There is one thing however which reallllllly bugs me however, and that is the lack of engineers.
There are plenty of dwarves that do some engineering, but none is advanced in it.

I blame the guy who thought the two rooms at the bottom weren't enough and built more in another pattern without filling bottom two first :(

Primary goals as of now
1.   Shape jailroom to appropriate shape
2.   Set up a few more wells around the place
3.   complete the stack of magma pumps (although I may not be able to finish it by the end of the year)
4.   Create a water pressured flushing device to clear room for all that refuse (Optional, although then again I could just order my dwarves to manually dump the garbage down a hole in the ground)

Anything else I should take note of during my year?

And where is the lever room?
I feel queasy when I don’t know how to control all the floodgates and stuff

I assigned it to be F5. If someone changed it, it's in my quarters just above first cavern layer.

Nothing much happening as of now
just posting a few random stuff I found of interest

Good spirited swordsdwarf commander.

can't seem to find this mystical garbage smasher though.

Do elkbirds really like swimming in neck high water that much?

I'll post a proper update once I get through the rest of summer.

Gahh :( :( :(
so many days.

sry guys, got stuck in the real life hospital after breaking a leg from a bike accident.
At least I get a few more days off before going to school.
Just posting so that you know that I'm still working on EH even if progress is rather slow, although might need a few more days.

question: do dolomite blocks resist magma? I'm mass forging iron pumpsections and corkscrews, but if the blocks can't resist the heat, then I might accidentally make an unfortunate accident not just for myself but for the entire fort

Sorry to hear about your leg  :( At least you will be treated by human doctors and not dwarf ones  ;)

:'(
And yes, dolomite is magma-safe.

No, it's just weapon-grade, while garnierite was mined specifically for smelting pipe sections from nickel, since it has no other uses.
