apples is having pesterchum trouble so I'll just do this myself

"You know, I always did believe that the best way to figure out what something does is to hit it with a dangerous object a few times." Mimi walked back through the doorway they'd just entered and started looking around for important parts of the machinery. "Then deal with the messy consequences later."

>Mimi: Start jabbing/shooting any vulnerable and important looking parts of the elaborate machine until it seems sufficiently broken. Then wait and see what happens.

Really? Really?

Well, okay. You start wandering around, looking for any part of machinery that looks vaguely exposed or fragile. Within minutes of abuse, sirens start going off as the factory grinds to a complete halt. Things continue in the production half of the factory, at least for now.

I'm imagining that Mimi does all this before Emily has time to even say no.

>Mimi: Wait around to see what happens.
>CT: Get kinda upset.

Emily speaks, slowly getting just a little frantic-sounding when she finishes.
"What-- b-- why'd you do that? I'm all for destroy!ng stuff, but I was st!ll wanted to explore th!s place. And who knows what'll happen from break!ng th!ngs? A s!ren already went off, so !t clearly know's !t's been broken. What !f !t affects the other factor!es, or had someth!ng !n !t the other's d!dn't? What !f !t locks down, or self-destructs, or BOTH? What do we do THEN?"

"You're too cute. You see, I've been adventuring in this game for quite some time now, and what have I accomplished? Not much. I even let the small carapace - my only lead - get away. So I figured it's time to change the game up a little. Throw a curveball at it, if you will. All that's left to do is see what we can gain from the ruckus."
Mimi leaned back against the wall of the factory and smiled as she made her amends with Alex on her phone.

"We can still look around. The production's still going on, and I doubt the doors have locked behind us."

"Fair enough."

"The war was pretty much inevitable. Derse and Prospit have always been at odds, and we always knew it'd come to war. When the heart of Skaia changed, we knew we had to act, and so did they. We couldn't put it off any longer."

"As for my time on this world... It's been pretty sad, really. I mean, don't get me wrong, it's beautiful, but everywhere we look we're getting attacked by Derse battleships, or the crystals are being mined out before we can do anything. The whole exercise feels like a quest of futility."

>Mimi: Keep exploring. Watch out for anything that's changed.

There's nothing else inside the factory. You've already seen it all. You wait around, and eventually the tree production slows as well, until the strange tree-pudding stops pumping through the pipe. More sirens begin to wail.

"You know, the salamanders we talked to didn't seem to know what was going on. Maybe if we wait around long enough, whoever's controlling the factory will show up."
