Other Games / Re: Dominions 6: Rise of the Pantokrator Released

Middle age Ulm is, and likely will be for a long while, one of my favorite nations to boot up the game to soon as a new game is released and that is along the lines of a nation I would recommend heavily for a beginner. They're relatively simple, can be quite powerful against the AI, and really benefit from taking the right scales. I'd probably recommend MA Marignon next, because it shows the importance of hitting your research goals and bringing out your battle mages, and/or playing with blesses.

In general I would recommend one or two quick games working with one game concept that you can specialize in before jumping into anything like blood magic nations or anything more complex.

I did a bit of testing to see how false damage works. Because it seems really weird that the nation has so much of it but no inbuilt ability to upkeep it. From what I can tell the false damage is still applied, but if there's no one on the battlefield to keep it up it heals 2 points of false damage per round (I think per round...). Seems like a fixed number too, humans with 2 false damage healed 2 and giants with like 25 false damage also healed 2.

Which, honestly, 2 regen is decent but it's not that impactful in a lot of situations. It's still super weird that the nation uses the mechanic without the support to hold it up but I think even without that it might still be a step up from the old phantasmal weapons in a lot of situations.

You know, except against things with true sight or spirit sight who are immune to them.
Like undead
Luckily you don't have a bunch of undead to kill.

Here is what the manual has on false Damage by the way, and it looks more useful when you realise that it doesn't trigger regen effects and blood vengence.

Quote
False damage
Illusions as well as most spells from the path of Glamour will
only cause false damage. The false damage is kept real in the
mind of the victims with the help of glamour magic. If all
enemy glamour mages die, the false damage will quickly
dissipate (2 points / round) without leaving any scars on the
victims.
The false damage feels real enough that someone taking
damage + false damage equaling his total HP will die
instantly. False damage will never cause any afflictions,
apart from death.
False damage is shown as light purple numbers and dots in
the battle.
False damage will not trigger certain effects like Damage
Reversal, Blood Vengeance and Blood Bond. Also
regeneration, life drain and healing spells will not heal false
damage.

Okay, now I am confused because my capital of nazca hit 5 sloth and a lot of places in my dominion? I didn't even know that was possible and I am not even sure how it happened.

Judging by what they say in the changes section the focus looks like it's going to be bigger armies? I've noticed that some powerful bless units in 5 now cost 2 sacred points to recruit as well. Haven't looked too deeply into it otherwise.

Planning on giving it a deeper dive this weekend, it's been six years since 5 released so I'm excited to check out everything.

Landed me my first bigot. Someone on Reddit DMed me saying that I'm mentally ill and no matter what I'll be a man and etc. etc.

Mission failed, it was weirdly validating and I'm now feeling really happy that my existence upsets bigots.
You managed to upset an asshole by just existing congrats.

It's been green generally a great way for me to filter out folks not worth taking to for me. And I think it's a good sign that anti trans rhetoric seems to not be gaining as much traction as you'd expect as prominent transphobes have been showing their whole ass lately

You can check the default work orders by starting a new work detail, it groups all the labor done by each work detail in there.

I do think the menu is the only way to assign labors now, but I haven't played around with making people specialists in a task using that lock icon.

I'm cleared to start HRT, hopefully I'll be getting on with it by next week.
Grats!

Also I haven't been here in a while, hi. I'm a trans lesbian.

For whatever reason, setting up a work detail for medical professionals then assigning all doctors to it seems to do the trick, just make sure to exclude rescuing and patient care

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Steam version wagon accessibility?

Yeah my site has a baron and I'm getting that message. I'm mostly checking that ramps and bridges are not the problem since depot accessibility is no longer visible

DF Gameplay Questions / Steam version wagon accessibility?
« on: December 12, 2022, 10:49:48 pm »
Checking here to see if anyone knows how the accessibility works in the steam version now. I have a five wide bridge with 5 ramps either side but wagons still can't seem to access the fort.

I made a burrow and assigned all dwarves to the burrow one by one, so I guess that is one way, seems to be working in terms of keeping everyone away from the dragon outside that can't seem to find the entrance.

Kitfox's community manager mentioned that they would be putting some financials up for the sake of being transparent later, but I am pretty much assuming that the numbers the brothers typically post in their monthly reports also is not after tax, then its split between two people, so it wasn't a whole lot of money despite it being a respectable amount.

I'd be interested in the source for that if you remember where it was posted.

Alexandra Orlando mentioned it in episode 4 of the beginner friendly dwarf fortress streams. I'm at work right now but I don't mind digging up a timestamp for it later

And here we go https://youtu.be/GjT813HNX5g?t=3298

Link above is timestamped but at 55:00 this is discussed

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: BUG: Ammo is broken

I've had no issue with modifying and reassigning uniforms, you can also force them to update their equipment on the uniform screen. If they aren't picking up their equipment then this might be a result of an old bug where hunter jobs conflict with uniforms.
