Forum Games and Roleplaying / Feudal Adventure 2! The Adventuring!
« on: July 02, 2012, 12:46:16 pm »
As chosen by the people, Feudal Adventure rises forth. The basics of the game are the same as last time, but please read the OP due to slight reductions in base stats.

First name:
Gender:
Age: (late teens to early thirties, unless you PM me)
Distribution of points: (see spoilers, and please also spoiler yours).
Height: (Everyone was smaller then, so if you are thinking in modern heights, subtract a foot everywhere).

If you have any questions, or questions based on questions, feel free to drop a wall of text like I have.
First five characters to pass the double-check process will be in. I overslept, so the map of the realm will be coming shortly, with the options for where your potentially glorious kingdom will have its roots.
This game is set in the Dark Ages, is high fantasy, but low magic. High magic used to exist in the world but has been dying out.

Forum Games and Roleplaying / Players choice: Game revival
« on: July 01, 2012, 12:35:52 am »
Gentlemen, ladies, gentlemen, and bears, it is summer time. This means that I have little work, great deals of time, and am currently not expending any sort of effort or creative energy. Ergo, I want to run a forum venture. And not just any forum venture. I want to take one of my old ideas, that I loved and cherished, and then ran into the ground out of laziness and a failure to address developing flaws, and breathe life back into it. So, here are the two games I've run, that I'm aware of, the premise, and my vow to not mess them up.

Feudal Adventure This one failed due to me waffling on how close in I wanted the players to be, interaction wise. In my head the players were mostly doing some Dungeon Delving RPG stuff, and running a kingdom in the background. In reality, I sort of flustered out after about two days because while I wanted the players to be more hands-on in the running of the kingdom, I sort of shoved them into a farming sim.

Mission Room This one petered out for several fun reasons. One, I wanted a complex multi-part map and had no clue how to do it well, s I half-assed it in weird ways. Two, the players couldn't even tell who they were, and I couldn't either, and my maps sucked. Three, I made communication weird. Four, I just plain got demoralized by realizing I had messed something up, and was afraid to change it and throw off the players.

[This space reserved for any other forum games that I can be blamed for]

So, seeing this multitude of options, it is time for a vote. The grandest of votes even. The vote for the game to beginneth.

Forum Games and Roleplaying / Ozymandias, Redux
« on: January 23, 2012, 04:58:25 pm »
Long, long ago, in a land far, far away, a story began. It began almost exactly like this.
Making this shit up as I go along.

You're a naked male adult human in the bush, with naught but a fire and a knife.

It is night.

What do you do?

And now we are here, after a lengthy series of events occurring in part I. This is part II. It will, hopefully, live up to its father. You see, its father died posing a question: Do we, Ozymandias, God of Caves, King of Kings, Master of menacing poses, and Potential Wizard, sail north with no followers, under the mercy of a pirate king and his crew that we just recently met? Or do we do our own shit? Currently, 100% of our 1 voters has said that we should sail north. I'd like a tad more input before I do anything, although if there is no further input I'll roll with it. You've got roughly a day to decide, or until I feel bored and update anyways.

Spoiler: Stuff (click to show/hide)

Ozymandias, who has done so much and conquered so many, is at his crossroads.

They say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. I hope Solifuge is flattered, because I am copying the hell out of him. I'm going to try to stream once a week, at least, and to provide advance notice of stream times. I hope to provide a steady, consistent stream that you all have fun watching. I've got your MineCrafts, your M2TW, your Wesnoth, Dwarf Fortress, anything that can be done on an NES emulator (if you request it). I'll also stream any MMO's I get caught up in, such as Dungeons and Dragons Online. At the moment I am mic-less, but I've been hunting down my old gaming mic in the hopes that it will work for the job. I'm aiming to do the first stream on the channel at approximately 2:00 pm, July 21st, GMT -5. Hope to see you there!

General Discussion / Youtube audio ripper?
« on: July 03, 2011, 08:27:19 pm »
As the topic might denote, I'm trying to grab some audio from Youtube, but I've yet to find a non-shady site or program. What is it that the folks of B12 use?

So, I found a website full of grid-based maze generators, using Stumble. I just made a sphere out of mazes. IwishIhadan'awyeah'gif.gif.

Other Games / Dungeons and Dragons Online: Eberron Unlimited
« on: May 07, 2011, 04:39:38 pm »
So, the old thread seems to be quite a ways dead. Figured I would revive things given that Update 9 is here. Update 9 adds several things like:
- The Elemental, Divine, and Arcane crafting schools letting you fully customize and power up your gear
- A smattering of flavor stuff in the store
- Some map packs

We used to have a very large guild running around, and I'd love to see who is still active in the game. I've started over and have a level 4 rogue on Sarlona.

Forum Games and Roleplaying / Fedual Adventure: On like Donkey Kong
« on: February 13, 2011, 09:14:00 pm »
Right, well, this will be a feudal adventure. Clever naming, I know. A lot of this game, for better or for worse, will be based around the awesome/terrible art I'm going to be churning out. As my scanner is in an unknown state, somewhere in the void, this will mean the actual gameplay will be delayed. Semi-fortunately, I think that making your people will fill up that gap nicely. So, here is the gist of things; It is medieval sort-of-Europe, as realistic as I feel like making it, and low magic. The details for making your awesome person are below.

First name:
Gender:
Age: (late teens to early thirties, unless you PM me)
Distribution of points: (see spoilers, and please also spoiler yours).
Height: (Everyone was smaller then, so if you are thinking in modern heights, subtract a foot everywhere).

The last part is choosing what cultural group you hail from, out of the ones displayed on this image.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Also of what you choose, will be who you are grouped with. I'm rail-roading the hell out of the early game, and am putting you all into a clan together, in two families of the clan, in a group of two and a group of three. You'll be deciding what your groups are, and what your last name is for your group, and all together you will pick your clan name. Be wary, age and gender are going to have boons and consequences, as of the time.

If you have any questions, or questions based on questions, feel free to drop a wall of text like I have.

Life Advice / Battling panic attacks
« on: January 16, 2011, 04:43:00 pm »
Thread title is a huge clue in.

Basically, I suffer from panic attacks a lot, when socializing. The times I don't have attacks are small groups of friends, one on one conversations, meeting new people in the presence of friends, and a few others. Basically, it seems to me like ratios. I have always been heavily introverted, but I got along despite that. Now though, it seems like if I can't isolate and sort of remove myself, then I just break down.

Recently, I was at a lock in at school, and was having a great time. I was in a group of fifteen, out of a crowd of 400 or so. I had met everyone in my group and was getting along with them and opening up just as much as I do when chatting with my best friends. I felt really great about the situation and was laughing and dancing, and just all of a sudden got hit. I felt nauseous, heart rate shot up, got tunnel vision, felt faint, my extremities hurt, and I just felt cold inside and miserable all of a sudden. I am thinking (speculating with all my inner Internet doctor) that my heart condition, an unusually bad coronary artery fistula, may be compounding the situation.

Dear B12, my questions, based on this ( and a previous lock in that went exactly the same way), are several in number and are as follows. How do I fight the attacks once they happen? How do I distinguish the effects, like faintness and such, from what is being caused by the panic attack and what is my heart acting up in response to the attack? How do I socially maneuver into smaller groups to help prevent these instances?

To answer my own questions, so you guys know what I do and do not know, I'm editing here.
When an attack happens, I usually just sit down, breathe slowly, and try to make small talk with friends to help calm me down, and also get lots of cold water.
I have no clue how to distinguish the two, since a lot of what they cause in a person are the same, although the high heart rate from a panic attack will induce a heart flare-up thing (since attack is taken). They sort of feed into each other, because while I know the panic attack is mental and not real danger to me, the heart issue is, and since I can't tell what is what I get afraid, which heightens the panic attack, and the increased blood flow from that heightens my heart flare up.
The best I have for the social tactics to prevent this are to keep going to these lock ins. I have had panic attacks at the last five and intend to go to the next one still, to keep fighting it til it doesn't happen.

Advanced apologies if formating or reading flow are terrible, if you think my OP is terrible please tell me.

Play With Your Buddies / Civ 4 game: Signups and votes
« on: January 08, 2011, 03:32:53 pm »
Anybody want to play some multiplayer Civ 4? If you do, register your name and your votes. Issues needing votes are:

World size:
Map type:
Game speed:
AI players:
Starting age:
Barbarians:

Personally, I'm partial to huge worlds running island marathons. I understand that this would be a ridiculous undertaking though, and would likely necessitate very few players to ensure you can actually have a session here and there, and would also need AI players so it isn't just some centuries long duel.

So, I just got diagnosed with a somewhat debilitating heart condition that causes the oxygen poor side of my heart to leak blood into the oxygen rich side, and it is then pumped out to my body, meaning my body does not get all the delicious oxygen it needs. The hole it leaks through widens when I work hard, so I can no longer play football or lead an active lifestyle. I'm not really that worried about dealing with it. What I am freaking out over is a) how do I tell the people that need to know, and b) how do I let everyone else know what is up without attention whoring.

General Discussion / Free word processor?

So, I'm doing a report when Microsoft starts being an asscake and not working. Any of you guys have alternatives you would recommend? I tried OpenOffice but it wouldn't let me install without pushing a hundred fucking products on me as part of the terms.

Creative Projects / Fun music and art project.
« on: June 21, 2010, 10:18:28 pm »
So, I had a fun idea. Open up your music folders on your computer. Pick out some bands that you have 4 or 5 or more of their songs. Choose your favorite three bands. Now, open up MS Paint and doodle out snippets of the songs as you listen to each band. Don't spend time on it, just quick doodles with only necessary repairs for screwups to the design. Like, if you drew an eye and it was a square. It is really fun to do, and I've got my three here. Try not to laugh, and see if you can guess some songs or the band. Also, no cheating by looking at file names.

Life Advice / Cannot handle summer.
« on: June 12, 2010, 02:55:36 pm »
So, the title gives the basic premise. Basically, I cannot handle summer time. My family stays in town. My friends are all back and forth between town and awesome summer places. I am only able to occupy myself for 4 hours a day at summer school. I've been out for three weeks and I crave to be back in school. Help.

As it says in the title. Share goals, big or small, with the community at large. Once we know what you are up to, you don't have to believe in yourself anymore. You can believe in us, who believe in you. Basically, a small group inter-blag exists right here. Right here. Right now.

I would like to start us off. I have to read a hefty Mythology book and do 5 pages of report on it, along with answering 7 typed out (like, size 6 print with no spacing) pages worth of questions on it. I also have to read a 3 part work on the second invasion of Greece by the Persians. A full 9 pages of questionings on that, along with closed note quizzes the first day of school, and a philosophical paper on a quote from the book. All this while taking my summer school courses. My goal for this right now: Acquire and leaf through the books within 3-4 days. Type the paper on the quote within a week from now.
