(IDEA) Scrap Shop

This idea just popped into my head not long ago, having a few legendary dwarves now, it annoys me that i have a shortage of logs and certain materials, And yet have all these crappy quality beds and such sitting around i can never use again, having replaced them with masterpiece beds and such. This can leave you with a lot of left over furniture, to leave in stockpiles or toss into a garbage stack, it seems like such a waste to me though. Im wondering if with the new workshops it may be possible to make a shop that will break down an existing item into its base resource, or at least, resource type aka stone, wood, metal. Any ideas guys ?

Enough of being rude...

I believe we came to the conclusion, yes, it is indeed possible, however, it's a little hit or miss on the object you break down and the material you get back.

Why? GET_MATERIAL_FROM_REAGENT.

If that were to work with beds and the like, there'd be some interesting potential...

It gets a material from any reagent, including beds. Let me check it now.

So it is possibly doable ? this would be most awesome! thanks for looking into it guys. also not that i have a real say in it since im not making the mod myself but i certainly support any mod using this idea :)

Uh, [MATERIAL_REACTION_PRODUCT:WOOD_MAT:LOCAL_PLANT_MAT:STRUCTURAL] crashes too... What's wrong with LOCAL_PLANT_MAT?

Well Deon, I have basicaly ZERO expirience with reactions, but if I had to guess, its either that LOCAL_PLANT_MAT related to shrubs, not trees, and therefor not logs OR you havn't defined a "LOCAL" for your LOCAL_PLANT_MAT to relate to. But like I said, this is a stab in the dark from somebody who tries wings onto things with legs, not somebody who puts two items into an oven and pulls out a spear.

It looks like LOCAL_PLANT_MAT is not working in reactions and there should be something else... Neither wood.

[PRODUCT:100:1:WOOD:NONE:LOCAL_PLANT_MAT:CEDAR]
doesn't produce Cedar logs.

Also
[PRODUCT:100:1:WOOD:NONE:WOOD:CEDAR]
doesn't produce Cedar lots too.

They both make just " logs". Which material should be there?
