I get so angry when people say pokemon is like cockfighting. It's more like having friendly wrestling competitions with people. The people who do act like it's a cockfight are almost always portrayed as horrible people. Because they are.
I wouldn't call anything that involves poison, electric shot and the like to be wrestling. Or very friendly for that matter.
Well, Pokemon aren't really living creatures, in-universe. After all, they never hurt people, are stored in devices far smaller than the creatures themselves, and are only "knocked out" by even the strongest of attacks. And that's not getting into limited movesets, TMs and HMs, or most items.

Lol, not if you read the Pokemon manga's that first showed up.

There's no really safe answer as to what to call a female CO. One option risks seeming like you're patronizing her, the other risks seeming like you're mocking her. There are, however, a large number of undoubtably unsafe answers.

A kind of Calculator used to calculate combat turns. One that Stores Character stats and allows things like: character A attacks Character B who dodges, which outputs [A's STR vs B's DEX]. There probably is something like it already, but not one that suits my needs lol.

Indeed.

Also, we're arguing about something that isn't our world so we can't say much on why the fights don't really harm pokemon. It's probably to do with the trainers or the pokeballs though.

Ah, that won't even need a GUI then, it could probably run off of a console display.

I'd personally approach it by using a "character" class, with enemies and players as objects of that class. Though you don't have to, you could just as easily have each character as an integer array with stats in it.

Then it would be input attacker's aim stat, input defender's evade stat. If successful, input attacker's attack stat, input defender's defense stat.
If it's just an ability use with no targeting, then it's aim stat (usually MND for things like teleport and the like) followed by the ability stat.

Of course, that would be a rudimentary program as it would fail to take into certain account factors. Also, since unlike random.org, a computer's RNG generally uses the system time as a seed into a complex algorithm, it would be pseudo-random as opposed to true random. But of course, a physical dice-roll is not necessarily true random either.

GUI programming requires more work, though I suppose you could use C++ with Qt using the Qt Creator IDE. You'll still need to do a bit more work, namely with slots and signals but it would work.

That looks nice.
That would be what a console application could look like. If you're using Java with Eclipse, it would be black text on a white background and could be quickly run. Same goes for Python.
