Most characters wouldn't need more than two years at most to be adults.

Fighting Eldritch Abominations makes you realize the world for what it is and endure terrible hardships and you have to make sacrifices and all that, but I don't think it instantly qualifies you to become an adult considering how many children and high schoolers fend off these monsters and remain young nonetheless.
