So the Discord chat came up with another idea for the Touhou plot you mentioned here.

In addition to genderbending the male characters, the already female characters have their anime traits exaggerated. Like they all become moe and get anime personality traits (Ex: Eirika is a tsundere)

it sounds like it could be comedic, but at the same time touhou tends to not actually have those sorts of exaggerated character archetypes (outside of fanon)
