impatiently await next turn.

You win the game

Congratulations

Dwyn pointedly ignored the voice for a moment. Its message was plain enough, and he had more pressing matters to attend to.

Get a feel for relative values of the different blood as people place bids, highlight the slave's strength and tenacity in order to bring prices up.

After:

Apparently we're both bound by the same master, my luminescent lizard friend. Shackles between equals creates a fascinating kind of slavery, and I see our partnership -if temporary- being quite profitable. Join me, and we'll both escape rich and well-fed.

(7) From what you hear, you can tell that red and blue blood are more valuable than black blood. That's about it, though, as the din of the slave market makes it hard to hear things easily. So far, you have a bid for 150 black blood, a bid for 5 red blood, and a bid for 3 red and 3 blue blood. (2) You try to describe the unconscious man's strengths, but he's rather scrawny and not too handsome. Stable-cleaner material. It doesn't seem like anyone is willing to up their bid, even after you spend 3 minutes talking about the man's exceptional teeth and slightly above average eyes.

"Now what is this fuzzy feeling crawling under my skin? Never been a stickler of light y'know. This authoritarian voice isn't going to threaten me, y'hear! Speak clearly will ya! "
Request that this godlike voice clarifies what it's trying to say, if the voice won't clarify I'll just assume it doesn't want us to be in combat party with each other. Not because that I'm inferring that I'll leave the party. Also try to understand why my body is all...glowing

(As a side note, Dywn is glowing to you and you are glowing to Dywn. This is so you know each other as chosen by the voice thing)

You start talking to the voice. People stare at you like you're crazy and start to back away. Apparently not everyone can hear this voice, although your bespectacled slave-dealing friend certainly can. Although the cliche sort of guiding voice certainly wouldn't respond to you, you're quite surprised when this one does.

The clouds blocking the dim sun roll away, bathing you and your new acquaintance in golden light.

Thine wish is to escape back to thine own world, is it not?
Indeed, if thou art to follow my guidance, both thee and all the other souls that wander this forbidden realm shall be freed...
I shall help thee as best I can...
Thine first companion, a deadly warrior and defender of the wood, awaits thee in the corrupted land.
Thine second bravely fends off droves of those who would end your quest, a guardian of a Great Wall.

Beware of the corrupted land - a great mental fog upon that accursed land willst turn thee against thine companions...

After thou hast united with thine kin, I shall assist thee once again...

As the heavenly voice fades away, you look at your friend, who seems to have heard it too. After a brief discussion, you agree to join him, even if it is just for the sake of loot.

(totally not a plot line going on here)

he would briefly attempt to speak, before clutching his chest in pain. Tossing his helm off to the side, he would hurl what litttle he had for lunch back onto the ground as his body tries to expel the foul poison.

After recovering from that moment, he would turn unsteadily to the wall knight marshal addressing him.

"I am honored to join the wall knights. It will be good to have kinship in this dark land, but I have matters to attend to now the battle is over: My health and my foe."
he would briefly scavenge the battlefield, pick up his helm, and then go to shoulder-carry the enemy captain back to town with him. His foe seemed primal, but was doubtless more intelligent than they seemed.

The Marshal is rather taken aback by your... condition, but he nods.

"Of course. Vhat you do vith your prisoner is your choice. And here, take this. On me."

Remedy - cures user of poisoning and venom

You thank the Marshal and return to the battlefield, looking for valuable loot. Most of the cuttlefish men's weapons are rusted to the point where you'd have to pay people to buy them, but you do find a nice little necklace on one of the fallen savage creatures. (12)

Pendant of the Pilgrim - (necklace, +1 END) - This necklace symbolizes the endurance of the religious monks who make long and grueling pilgrimages to various holy sites. It slightly improves the wearer's endurance.

You snag the little pendant, sling the unconscious cuttlefish man over your shoulder, and gallivant back to town, humming a merry tune. You find an abandoned house, enter it, and barricade the door with a few bits of broken furniture. Using a bit of clothesline, you tie your captive to a chair, who is now somewhat awake.

"Hhnnnrggg... where... urrngh..."

"Walk in accordance to nature, friend. Be well."

Continue heading southwest, still need to cull evil men from this world.

(To clarify, Deikos isn't a dragons layer, he's simply a helpless victim of autocorrect.)

Deikos nods and salutes you.

"Be well yourself. Make sure not to stay in those plains for too long - or else you'll turn into a savage. Oh, and take this as a token of my gratitude. As a disciple of nature, you may find use in it that I cannot."

Ring of the Druid (all biome cites and nature based attacks gain +2 to rolls that would already be successful)

You thank Deikos and leave the tavern. After a short trek, you're back in the plains. Long story short - you find a savage, and get the jump on him. The savage is facing away from you, poking around at the ground with a stick and grunting.

Explore around the town trying to find some thugs to beat up on while waiting for Dragnean to finish his slave business
(Two things, late message but hoped you did well on the standardized testing thing. Also is this city really cosmopolitan (cosmoracial?) because I don't understand how the presumptive assumed human citizens wouldn't already turn their head on a lizardman and whatever Draignean is, I mean how isn't a crazy lizardman prophet talking to a deity-like figure not natural in this town?)

Let's get formalities out of the way quick: I am Dustan, your judge, jury, and possibly executioner depending on your behavior. You have the right to remain silent, though it would be in your best interests to act friendly and answer the questions truthfully.

Let's start with simple things. What is your name?"

Interrogate my captive. Learn why they and their men were fighting alongside the monsters.

"I quite agree," Dwyn said, motioning to the one who'd bid three red and three blue blood. "I'd also make the point that finding said others might be a great deal easier in the dark- under the assumption that they have the same glow about them.

Dwyn took the bid for 3 blue and 3 red blood. Give 1 blue to the Lizard, and 1 red to the slavemaster who helped me earlier. No debt unpaid.[/color]

Goddamnit, let me change the effects of the Ring of the Druid because fuckign autocorrect is mad at me for referencing it as bad

Ring of the Druid (+2 to all biomancy spells and nature based attacks if the hit is successful without the modifier)

You leap at the fiend, moving lithely as a jungle cat stalking prey.

(13 + 3 + 2 + 2 = 20 vs. 19 - 10 = 9)

You drive your katana through the creature's back, and wrench it out in a spray of blue blood. The creature screeches at turns towards you, but the fight is already over. The thing is barely able to stay on its feet, let alone attack you.

+1 blue blood!

"Warrior of the woods y'say, would it be that elf I saw a while back?, who knows, also if it were up to me it seems that the 3 red and blue blood seems like the best value deal"

The city is rather urban (for a medieval setting), but mostly abandoned. It's inhabited by two main groups composed of many different races. The spirits, of which you are one, are the lost adventurers, soldiers, and even just peasants who somehow slipped into the Resonance. They are made up of all different kinds of races, coming from different worlds and the like, explaining their lack of surprise at seeing a lizardman and a bespectacled illuminati. They inhabit the good parts of the city, but their numbers are dwindling, leaving the once grand city as a ghost town.

Then there are the natives. This group is mainly composed of normally savage creatures with sentience (such as cuttlefish men) that have adapted to the city and become somewhat civilized. They vary greatly in shape and form. They inhabit the slums of the city, since they are often persecuted by the spirits who live in the other areas.

The main thing that distinguishes spirits and natives is blood. Spirits tend to have both red and blue blood innately, and are able to acquire blood from other creatures they kill. Natives have predominantly black blood, and are unable to collect blood.

You go back to the slums of the town, where you first killed that vagrant. You stroll down the alleys, and eventually find three cuttlefish men gambling in a corner, weapons sheathed and unready. You quietly sneak up to them, and...

(7 + 3 = 10 vs. 12 - 10 = 2)

Drive your spear through the back of one of the cuttlefish men! The other two both draw their weapons as they see the blood of their comrade spill forth, but they seem unprepared for the assault.

Interrogate my captive. Learn why they and their men were fighting alongside the monsters.

The cuttlefish man chortles.

"You cannot say name, spirit. Is not your language. Is not able for your kind say."

You ask where the cuttlefish man comes from.

"I come from great spawning lake, where Water Spirit is live. Your people encroach on our land."

You ask the cuttlefish man why he fights alongside the monsters.

"Lake Spirit. When your people kill us, steal our land, Lake Spirit defend us. Teach our peaceful people how to fight. Give us strength to face evil invaders like you. Lake Spirit is send us forth to hunt down evil, lurk within world of your kind."

You prod for some more information, but the cuttlefish man's simple and broken speech provides little more information than that.

"Warrior of the woods y'say, would it be that elf I saw a while back?, who knows, also if it were up to me it seems that the 3 red and blue blood seems like the best value deal"

Without even seeing the face of the person you are dealing with, you hold out your hand and announce your decision. Seconds later, you feel something flow through you as another hand briskly touches yours, then takes your slave.

+3 red blood!
+3 blue blood!

The lizardman is nowhere to be found, but you're able to locate the other slaver, who you find purchasing a whip. Upon seeing you, he gives you a crooked grin.

"Yer back, eh! How did you fare out there?"

You tell him about your recent victory, and present him with the red blood. He readily accepts it.

-1 red blood.

"Yer too kind! Here... Lemme give ya something in return. I have more o' these than I can rightly use without gettin' sick. Have a few, on me."

Koziko Root x 4 (restores 10 HP. If consumed within 3 rounds of using another root of any kind, the user is poisoned for 5 turns. This effect does stack.)

With the Dirty Talisman on my other hand cast Neural Shock on the Vagabond dual wielding those swords, and than rush in with my spear focusing on the legs and the groin for a non-lethal takedown on the other vagabond. Remember that I'm trying to take these guys as captives

There are those driven to madness by some sort of curse on this land, and others who are so desperate to escape that they are willing to commit atrocities."
Attempt to convince them to take me to this lake spirit. If they refuse, just escort them back across the wall and let them go.

I fuckin' lost every single fucking word in a crash so this was a painful update for me

"Now lets have some fun shall we?, I'd imagine Dwyn likes his captives raw..."
(Now lets have some fun with magic since I acquired that talisman a while ago from that other octopus-dude)
With the Dirty Talisman on my other hand cast Neural Shock on the Vagabond dual wielding those swords, and than rush in with my spear focusing on the legs and the groin for a non-lethal takedown on the other vagabond. Remember that I'm trying to take these guys as captives

You cast neural shock. You're surprised when your newly acquired blue blood vanishes!

-1 blue blood

(14 + 3 + 5 vs. 8 + 2)

However, the spell works. Your foe starts spasming uncontrollably, leaving you with only one capable foe. They rush you!

(10 + 3 vs. 11 + 2 + 2)

The remaining vagabond grazes you with his khopesh, but the wound isn't terrible or anything.

-6 HP

You attack with your spear.

(9 + 2 + 2 vs. 13 + 3)

Your attack is blocked, but you follow up with a clawing attack.

(17 - 1 vs. 2 + 3)

You bowl the vagabond over and knock them out with a swift blow. You're unable to pick up their weapons due to the fact that you're already dragging them back to the slave market. You return and meet up with Dwyn. You feel your wound start to heal.

+1 HP

Spoiler: Vingar (click to show/hide)

Dwyn made a cursory effort to see where his companion of apparent prophecy went, but, if he couldn't find that, would content himself by checking the prices on various extra accouterments at the slave market. In other words, Shop.

You look around, and see your companion heading towards you with two strange men with mollusk heads slung over his shoulders. You nod to him and browse the nearby stalls. Besides a few stalls selling cheap clothes for slaves, there's little of value. However, a helpful patron tells you of a tavern not far out of the city that is well stocked in weapons, whips and scourges included.

Cut off its head, take the blue blood, and keep moving in the direction I was originally going.

In a swift movement, you decapitate the wounded creature.

+4 blue blood
+1 red blood
+14 black blood
+23 EXP

You head further into the field, and the oppressive presence in your head grows stronger. You don't think you can bear it for too much longer...

"two more questions: where is this lake spirit, and would you take me to them? I understand your reluctance to do so, but I assure you that not all of our kind are evil. There are those driven to madness by some sort of curse on this land, and others who are so desperate to escape that they are willing to commit atrocities."
Attempt to convince them to take me to this lake spirit. If they refuse, just escort them back across the wall and let them go.

"The Lake Spirit would kill you, even if my comrade do not. I am not able to help. If you wish kill me, kill me now."

You raise your halberd, and the cuttlefish man lowers his head. You bring down the blade of your halberd on his bindings, severing them. The cuttlefish man looks at you with gratitude.

"You are different. Very."

You nod.

"I will take you to Lake Spirit. You can call me Kien, is my human name."

Spoiler: Kien (click to show/hide)

The two of you leave the town, and return to the wall. Nobody asks any questions as you pass the wall and head towards the enemy, although there is quite a bit of murmuring.

Proud knight...
A powerful enemy awaits thee ahead...
I implore thee not to go ahead...
It matters not who I am.
Simply go forth and find thine comrades.
A slaver with mastery over time itself...
A fierce cannibal with a strong spirit...
And a defender of the wild.

It is thine destiny.

Ahead awaits a powerful foe of both thou and I.
Perhaps later thou mayst challenge them.
But not now...
You must grow stronger...
