Of the whole list of targets Houlandin I picked on the biggest, most martial opponent around. How could that have gone wrong?

Let's not repeat the folly while outnumbered; we still have to re-re-retake Eval. We don't have the martial bonus for our army but we do have the charismatic bonus to making treaties.

Not sure I want to bring in Cydwyl on the terms of "HELP WE FUCKED UP" just yet.

Well, it's good to see Houlandin dead, at least; martial kings never last here because everyone always insists on trotting them out for every engagement until the luck wears out. Plus there's that whole "refuses to have backup sons" thing. Llewyn is good and charismatic and can continue the ongoing business of Queen-Victoria-ing everybody into peaceful unification.

You decide to mobilize the populace and call Cydwyl for help!

Two weeks later, the hastily mobilized recruits join forces with the leftovers, plus some fresh troops, and battle the Damdamians.

They push their forces out of Methiant! But casualties were plenty, and your forces bounced back to safer location to regroup, while the enemy is camping inside Lametanian borders.

1155 AD, Late Summer

No response from Cydwyl yet.

Agents of the Spymaster bring news from Eval; apparently, the Damdamians wanted the Evalians to rebel and later join back with Lametanians, which didn't quite sit well with Evalians. Apparently, the Damdamians are now fighting to capture strategic keeps while Evalians are keeping them at bay.

Report comes from borderlands; the enemy is on the move again, and is going to step into Methiant by the Ironbone Mountains within days.

A) We gotta split the forces to help the brave Evalians but also to protect the mainland!
B) The Evalians brought it upon themselves, we need to protect ourselves in the meanwhile.

I hate to leave Eval in the lurch, but without the Cydwyllians we don't have enough troops to split up.

B We can't allow the enemy to ransack Methiant proper. We'll have to wait on helping out the Evalians until we beat off the main army threatening our core lands. Though we should remember this bravery on the parts of the Evalians. Even if it probably wasn't born out of true loyalty.
