We are not fighting the dwarves any time soon. They already own self destruct buttons on many of our toys. At this point it is difficult to give them much more leverage over us than they already have.

We own the candle though, so if they try and use it against us they will find it surprisingly useless.

Also, come on. Artifact guys. We have a strong economy. The money will just end up hitting the cap and getting wasted after the first few years. On the other hand, since we can't use the sorceress anymore this is how we get new artifacts.

A sorceress made it though, who knows how long-lasting or reliable it's going to be? Hell it's probably eventually going to end up blowing up in our faces somehow. And if/when we eventually lose it, or if there's some situation where it can't be used, we have no way to respond.

It is worth 8 years of money to them. I doubt we could afford that service even if we hadn't just blown our reserve on a candlestick.

I doubt the dwarves would be dumb enough to give their somewhat unreliable neighbors with a small history of war against them such a potentially dangerous weapon anyway.

Apparently we're the only ones dumb enough to do that.
