First of all I'd like to thank everybody for their kind words.

Second of all I'd like to let you all know that with Bartavelle's help, the save for Nist Akath has been offloaded.
I am playing a new fort in the same world to pass the time, but I have also included a small number of heroes for you to recruit in the nearest Dwarven Capital
The new fort is intended for you to be a source of equipment, and also to be generally close to the dwarven capital as well as Nist Akath. It's a nice little fort, with rivers that only flow in the second month of summer, waterfalls, and of course a lower river that floods like crazy before being frozen.

So the Forts finally been Abandoned?
(I can't do it myself as DF crashes everytime I try to.)

Wow, its finally over!

And what an ending it was!  Thank you, Mayday for taking the time (years!) to write such an epic story.

One last question:  Who lived/died in the end?

So the Dwarves are SUPREME!  Excellent!  Final victory is assured now.

This is a tally of who is still alive and who died after the final battle with the Soulsmith.  I got the information from the unit list in a downloaded save and posted it here.  I got the numbers and names down as best I could but the numbers for the skelks and such might be a bit off, dunno.  The rest is pretty much approximate.  And no, nothing is a typo.  Enjoy.  -- Xvareon
P.S: Doesn't it seem like the most prevalent families in this game are Anuzast, Datannazush, Morulmadush and Lerommeng?  Almost all the children were from those families.

I'm sad BurnedToast didn't get a mention at the end, being the only other survivor of the original seven and close friend and advisory to Ironblood. He only gets listed as one of the stone workers in the Xvareons wright-up (which is awesome btw).

Did he ever recover from the mining accident? He was always so under appreciated, it made you always hope for the best for him. like the time when Ironblood made him get "Something" for his office.

No, BurnedToast is still in bed with a yellow wound right lower arm and right hand.  He's Ultra-Mighty, Perfectly Agile and Superdwarvenly Tough, though, and has legendary in Mechanic, Record Keeper, Miner, Mason, Engraver and Appraiser.

He owns 89 objects including an Opulent Throne Room, Grand Bedroom and a Fine Tomb, but he's currently resting in a small four-bed room alone.  He still has a Bronze Pick in his left hand but most of his clothes are worn out.  Even in bed he still manages to be the bookkeeper, manager AND broker for the fortress all at the same time, which seems unbelievable because with his kind of injuries, he'd have to write lefthanded.  I guess he got ambidexterous over his extended bedrest.

BurnedToast likes Kimberlite, Electrum, Yellow jasper, doors, amulets and goblets. When possible, he prefers to consume char and Strawberry wine.

He rarely feels discouraged.  He is incredibly creative.  He does not have a great aesthetic sensitivity.  He is easily moved to pity.  He is confident.  He is occasionally given to procrastination.  He needs alcohol to get through the working day and has gone without a drink for far, far too long.  He likes working outdoors and grumbles only mildly at inclement weather.  He is getting used to tragedy.

So he's still alive, the old rascal, and still helping the fortress by doing paperwork lefthanded, though he hasn't had a stiff drink in a LONG time.  And in case you're wondering, he is currently ecstatic for happiness, so he's doing fine.

Oh... my... Armok... it's finally over.

...No, wait.  Oh my Captain!  I've been following this since before I joined the forums, and I was starting to fear that it would never be completed... but the Captain has delivered.  Oh, Ironblood, did he ever deliver!

I suppose it's rather late for this, but:

Haha yeah no problem, everyone.  Took me a while, but it was like I got taken by a strange mood like I was making some artifact.  Took me a whole day to write that up.

It's like...

Xvareon withdraws from society...
Xvareon has claimed a Desk.
Xvareon sketches pictures of dead animals and people.
Xvareon sketches numbers.

Xvareon has begun a mysterious construction!
Xvareon has completed The Macabre Manifest, a paper Death Toll!

Yeah.  That sounded better in my head, but it really felt like I got hit by a strange mood.  Speaking of which,  Nist Akath had over 60 artifacts I believe...  I could list the artifacts, their names and value if you like.  Might do that anyway if I get taken by a fey mood... hmm.  Most of the stuff is just finished goods, though.  No artifact steel axe :(

Shame, though, that would have been awesome if Ironblood had an artifact axe, it'd be like he finds a holy weapon with the power to fight the demons and uses it to kill the Soulsmith.  After all, what he used was just an ordinary steel battle axe without any quality levels even.  Of course, Olon Ironblood had his own powers so he probably didn't need a holy axe...  Still, something to think about.

Ironblood's axe became a pre-DF2010 semi-artifact.

It will never leave his side, as it has become a part of his being.  One of the axe's powers is concealing its artifact nature, luring foes to act overconfident before being laid low.

It is Nazushsholid Nurallibash Gast, Bloodcluteched the Blind Axe of Cleaving.
