Either way, thanks for linking that Gatleos.  It reminded me that Caliborn is very much a player, arguably (on certain levels of narrative) a protagonist.  Just an evil, inhuman, petulant one.

Not an entirely unsympathetic one, though.
I think most people who have played tabletop games understand a little.  That drive to take a setting and just *break it*.  Even if you only indulge a little, or not at all.  To test the limits and advance your interests as if everything else is just valueless, often infuriatingly frustrating, challenges.

I hate Cronus (though some fan-interpretations make him sympathetic) but I don't hate Caliborn.  He's just playing the game, and defying the game.  He's no worse than Rose, just dumber and more powerful.
