That makes me wonder how well a mafia game with a voted power would work.

So you have a mountainous/near mountainous game that's mostly normal. Except that in addition to the lynch each day you also vote on who gets that day's power. The mod would cycle it, mostly likely, so it'd be something like 'inspect' day 1 and 'roleblock' day two or something like that.

That might make for a really interesting dynamic.
Would they know what power it was?

Hmm. That's a tough call. I think letting them know would be better for a near-mountainous (you'd at least have a doc to protect the known cop-of-the-day or whatever). For a true Mountainous, it'd probably be better to be a mystery power.

Twitter Bidding Groundhog Day Mafia?

Bidding would be interesting and easily doable on IRC.
That it would. In fact, I kind of want a Bidding IRC Mafia variant.
Let's see... there's the credit card in gunfight that already exists for points and purchasing (though limiting supply needs to be done), and you could probably just modify the voting code to have the bids work out.

This would be neat.

It should be a private vote so the mafia can't just kill the power person every day.

Of course, the WIFOM of not killing him. "Hey, he didn't die, so he must be scum." Townielynch.

Or the possibility that the power is a mirror. "Kill hi-ohshi"

I probably wouldn't.

Except you have to choose the song "Don't Fear the Reaper".

Everyone.

By definition that makes you a fan since you still buy them.

What's the interest in another Kingmaker?  Also, please stop by the previous game and comment on the proposed rule changes.

Query: does anyone seem to know why in the potato (shut it, I'm tired) so many people seem to be skipping the threshold list and just going "Ooh, I'll start a game of Mafia!  I don't even know what it is, but I want to run it?"

It's pissing me off.

Wait, did you mean "start a new game"? OKAY!

I'd say that mostly it's because they're new, and therefore don't recognize the Threshold list as a place to wait in line for a chance to mod. They also don't realize the amount of effort it might take to run a game either, having not played one, so they do it without thinking.

Just give them a reminder. They don't know the rules.

EDIT: Also, I'll add BYOR 6 to the list.
