Hmmm... There are only two non-BM games running at the moment (P22, BYOR11)...

Maybe this would be a good time to bring Cybrid VI back into sign-ups? If I open it again (with a cleared player list, and a new asteroid), would there be interest?

If people feel like having a Cybrid chaser with their December festive drinks, please say so, and we may make it happen. It's a nine-to-twelve players, open setup, predictable mechanics, flavour rich game. Interested?

I'll have to hold off until I get killed out of one of the games I'm in. And my activity the week of Christmas would be spotty, at best. :/

I'll in after the seventeenth, though I don't know if Christmas week will be busy.

Bot online for a while. Check it out while I work on a different bot, and play some Liar's Dice! Great for learning WIFOM!

There should be one in signups soon, I'd guess! Happy to see a new face. :)

Specifically I should start sign-ups at around 6 or 7 today. How long do I hold sign-ups for by the way? I can't seem to find a decent rule-of-thumb anywhere.

Sooooo~
Can I, as a totally unproved person, be able to start up a basic game of Mafia*? I don't think I'd be able to play normally, as I am both in a very different timezone and frankly don't have the nerves of steel for such a game >.>

* I had a feeling that making unannounced games, especially by newbies, was rather unwelcome here. Rome, Rome's rules.

The general consensus is that people tend to join games hosted by familiar names.

As far as joining games go, we have several people that are in timezones quite off from US ones, and they're able to play just fine.  A game day can last 72+ hours, which would give you plenty of chances to participate.  A new Beginner's game is about to start, so you could give that a go.

If you really wanted to just mod, you could always offer to host the next Beginner's Mafia game- the one about to start has already been claimed, but there will always be more of them.  It's a very structured set up, so it's a good way to see how it's done.

From what I've been told it's best to play, then host a BM before you get into your own game.

I was thinking more of setting up a bare-bone game, which, in retrospect, is basically BM.
Also, I've always been more of a GM/host than a player. I don't know why xD
Ehh. Choices and choices.

The playing part is more to formalize yourself with Mafia. You get a bit used to how we play it before you run one, so you know what's up.

A BM hosted by a completely new mod is going to scare away the newibes if he fucks something up. If you still want to try your hand, I think you should ask one of the established mods to guide you through the ropes.
