As for tablets: I don't get them. What is their use case? What do they do better than a netbook? Or a netbook with a touch screen could do?

I'm actually quite happy with my tablet, an Acer Iconia W501.  I looked at every single tablet on the market back in the fall and it was the only one I could find running windows with two usb ports.  I would have loved to get a slightly more expensive netvertible, but I had to save up for two years just to spend that much.

My casting set-up is starting to almost look semi-professional. Not bad considering the mic is being held-up by empty cans filled with water and sealed with industrial tape...Still need to go pick up my fixed pc though, took picture with crappy netbook webcam xD

Speaking of which, it astounds me that there hasn't been a decent tablet pc marketed towards artists yet.  Yeah, it's a niche... but it's a pretty damn big one, and that type of device would be perfectly suited towards our needs.  Capacitive screens just don't cut it for artwork.  Way too finicky.  There's that HTC thing where they teamed up with Wacom, but it's a pretty weak start.

Yes, but given that it's HP, we'll release it in a half-finished state and then abandon it because Meg and the Board have had another schizophrenic mood swing and decided that HP is going to abandon computer hardware and become an asteroid mining company, because it's cool and in the news, and we love to compete with people who are already established in their market.
