That request thread, you know the one.
« on: October 31, 2010, 02:55:35 pm »

Okay, since we don't have one of these, and probably won't have one if this isn't a popular idea, I decided to create a game request thread. You request a game to be found by genre and pricing, browser or downloadable. Console games can be requested too, but I don't think many people will request those. No ROM requests please. ROMHacks are fine, but the actual ROMs themselves aren't. And provide info link with a mirror if you want. Or not, it's cool. RPGmaker games can be shown if asked for or they fit the bill.

Now, for my request: An RPG with a nice class system ( or just multiple classes which is what I'm really looking for), and it can't be Dungeon Crawl. Freeware, RM* games are fine.

NWN: Hordes of Underdark.

You could probably pick up Neverwinter Nights Diamond/Deluxe edition (The only difference being that Diamond comes with some popular player mods, as well as all the expansions) for dirt cheap nowadays. It's 3rd edition DnD with a pretty nice character creation system and has a reaaally long campaign, as well as a bunch of player made modules and online worlds you can roleplay 'n stuff in.

And I suggest to play Hordes of Underdark first :P. Expansions are not related to the original story, and I've found HotU to be the most enjoyable and well-planned out of all. It has a nice ending too, and it's not boring at all. I've found Shadows of Undrentide to be a bit too long, and the first one is quite good (and tells the original story) but still not as interesting as HotU. Not to mention that it's the last so it has the most features.

I'm looking for a game that is a carbon copy of X-COM: UFO Defense, but free. I WILL NOT support Steam. End of story.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X-COM
It lists two games. Are there more free ones?

A quick hop to UFO:EU's page showed UFO:The Two Sides, which is a freeware carbon copy of UFO:EU, with some balancing added. Never thought to check wikipedia. Thanks, dude. :D

Request: A good, space colonization strategy game. Preferably with multiple planets/system that are randomly generated.
Examples: Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri, Light of Altair, Aurora

Only one I can think of off the top of my head would be Star Ruler, which is rather rough, but very in depth.

Have you tried Galactic Civilizations 2?

I know it's unrealistic, but I can't help but imagine little bearded babies for dwarves. In my mind, they come out of the womb fully bearded. That's how the mother carries them around, too, she just drags them around by the beard or ties it to her belt. When the father's on duty, he just ties their beards together and the baby just kind of hangs there, swinging to and fro with Urist McDaddy's movements.

An RTS where the chain of supply is vital to the war effort. As in, ammunition, and fuel are required, delivered by something, and the delivery vehicle can be destroyed, disrupting supply.

Knights and Merchants. Chain of supply is the whole game. Old, buggy, and frustrating.
