Stupid Imps!! I hate the little gits, everytime I time i go to hell, boom fireball in the face drop into the magma!!!

I have a iron bow but they just teleport about...

 The only way of dealing with imps is either stunlocking them with a decent weapon(Only to have more spawn) or just ignoring them and have your swinging pick deal with it. Recommended to have equipment that speed up your swing speed.

 The real problem is Skeleworms. Imps you can sorta ignore and they occasionally damage you if you are constantly swinging(Unless they warp into you), but the worms just deal a larger punch and take longer to deal with and kill.

Yeah just found this out, I just shoot the imps fire balls now or knock them into the lava, but this guy came out of no where and beat the crap out of me :(!

edit: wait how do i smelt hell stone? I have about 60 stone pieces.

Well, it desn't look like I'm going to be having obsidian trouble anytime soon.

I have a ton of obsidian. Hellforge? Whats that, sounds like its gunna be a pain in the butt to get.

It's a forge made of hellstone. You can find those in hell.

Best you deconstruct one and take them to your base for uninterrupted smeltering.

My strategy for hell was to
a) flood the bastard, show no ecomercy! Divert as many underground lakes as possible in your dig towards the bottom. You need obsidian anyway. Learn to make airpockets in your sleep, and carry some flippers in your inventory, if not in your accessories.
b) dig down far enough that the imps have a hard time finding places out of your reach to spawn.
c) blow a huge space for fighting bone serpents and carry a big stick.
d) as you excavate, dig through/otherwise destroy spots where imps can sit out of reach.
e) know that you -will- die eventually, but I was able to last long enough to do all this with meteor armor and a ton of healing potions. It's actually -more- frantic if you take a friend, as you get more imps and serpents.

I only just started! I got some logs and dug right down. Now there are blue doom slimes and i'm unarmed. Least I found some free silver coins and copper.

I regularly make hell runs and come out alive actually :P

Well there are two non-god tier equipment for it.

1) Shrukens
2) Evil Arrows and Jester arrows

These are weapons that can go through enemies. Thus it is most then possible to shoot through their spawn to hit the eye.
