Skeet shooting implies shotgun, which means trench gun which means TRENCH WARFARE

Well you may have noticed from the screenshots that Terraria 'redstone' (It is a red powder, I'm calling it that until we get a name for it) works more like a fuse than Minecrafts redstone wires. Looks like when you use the redstone to power something, it get's used up, so you can't just hook a level up to your goblin spawner until you get boots, because your wiring will be used up.
Actually, it looks more like the "wires" or whatever they are remain, but you just only see them after pressing a specific hotkey or having certain items equipped. With the amount of slimes in the first picture, I doubt they replaced the wires each time, and the skeet shooting set-up in the second picture would be kind of pointless if you couldn't use it more than once.

I certainly hope so, anyway. Setting traps for people is so much more fun when they don't see the mechanisms.

This might make me play online again. Massive fun-tential in firing rapid-firing slime cannons at nearby players.
That, and sand-traps.

Of course, now everyone will be walking around with the wire tool, so chances are, everyone's going to see your traps.

Unless you can only see your own wires.
Or only your team's wires...

Those wires run from a specific block type, just look at the SS. Even if you can't see the wire, I'm guessing those will be a dead giveaway. In the pitch black it will be effective....but I'm guessing it'll be most effective when you're setting the trigger and the spawner next to each in an unavoidable spot (like in front of your door.)

Would be cool if we could make little covers to conceal the triggers and spawners...

Dispensers would be fun, especially if they do cool shit for arrows and explosives.

Bullets too, maybe? Though you'd have to put a gun in for that. Maybe there will be dispenser like blocks that can shoot but only if you put in a gun or bow. If it's explosives or regular items it just flies out.

Speaking of bullets why are there no demonite bullets? That would be so rad. And also sweet.

I wonder if there will ever be an option to disable mining, thus making pre-planned adventure maps a lot more feasible.

Seeing that I think we can't be too far away from a working plumbing system. It's not like it's a huge priority to me, but I've always been bugged by the "infinite amounts of water on the edges of the map" thing...so I'm hoping with some piping logic in effect now, Red might actually be considering letting us play with finite amounts of water, instead of us just trying to find the most fun way to deal with unlimited amounts of water.

Also, rivers. Have wanted those for a long time. A huge underground stream would make for some interesting engineering challenges.

I'm not really sure what would differentiate an underground river from any other giant horizontal stretch of water.

Definitely want some pipes though.

You could just build over it with a bridge though. I mean I like the new mechanisms and such but I'm not so sure that they're going to be that involved or complex considering we're working in 2D here. :P

It's not about a super deep level of complexity. I'd call it more of an immersion thing. Getting swept into a flowing underground river that drops you several hundred tiles underground in the pitch blackness?

That sounds cool, the ability to bridge over it or not. Engineering the flowing river itself to do things would give me plenty of fun. Plus, persistent waterfalls.
