Insofar as the expert boss stuff goes, I think the only ones I'm actually using are fishron's and plantera's (well, and the WoF's, obviously), and plantera's really only because I've been giving myself infinite HP (due to performance issues making surviving end-game expert hardmode basically impossible). The spores are surprisingly useful for passively killing stuff. Not as good as the stardust dragon, but not bad.

It might be interesting to go full bee one of these days, though.

Me and Neonivek went full bee in our co-op mode, much laughter was had.  Unfortunately it's not all that good cause the enemies can only be hit so many times in a second, such that you end up with a cloud of bees swarming around not actually doing much more than degrading your fps.

Actually just did a couple full-bee queen bee fights on expert, (haven't started over yet).
The hive pack actually makes a big difference for the DPS.

1.3.0.5 is out.

A few notable changes/fixes.

Cheesing bosses by hugging spikes has been disabled, spikes now check for damage immunity separately to other sources.
Living leaf walls now count as safe for housing!
Old pre 1.2 worlds that would not load, now work again.
Moon lord now has a summon craftable, so you don't have to go through the whole event to fight him again every time.
Moon lords bite debuff has had it's duration dropped a bit.

It's hardly cheating to use ingame mechanics. Abusing invincibility frames has been a thing throughout gaming pretty much since they've existed.

abusing a mechanic in an unintended way to trivialize the challenge in a game is cheating to me but that's just my opinion

Emergent behaviour is parts of the code/game/program interacting in unintended ways. This is players exploiting the game's mechanics.

I'm not seeing a difference.

DF has sieges. It also has drawbridges that can seal your base or crush people.

One one hand, emergent gameplay.

On the other, you're "cheating" (whatever the hell that means) by cheapening part of the game.

Something like this which makes you immune to pretty much anything (unless you just happen to catch a hit during the miniscule window between invincibility frames) is pretty clearly an oversight in the game's design and not an intended use of those features. It was patched before and its been patches again.

I don't particularly care whether someone uses it, but I do consider it pretty much blatantly cheating. No different than exploiting the AI pathing problems in Skyim by standing on a rock and suddenly nobody can reach you in melee so you can kill anything because they just run into the rock stupidly. If you do this you're bypassing challenges intended to be part of the game. This only really matters if there is some sort of competitive multiplayer aspect to the game though. Otherwise, so long as you're having fun then you're doing fine. There is no 'right way' to play, and I'm not saying people who exploit these bugs are bad people. Just sharing my opinion.

Day 3 of SP expert+hardmode. It's raining. There can be an infinite number of flying fish on screen, it seems. Ragequit has happened because I can't alt-tab out and wait for the rain to stop because that pauses the game (oh yes, because when I alt-tab out that totally means I want to stop the game!)

Instead of alt-tab, hit the taskbar icon thingy to minimize it, it will keep running (tho it will still detect all mouseclicks so ready something like a sword).

You can turn off auto-pause in the game settings as well as doing the afore-mentioned thing in the post above.

I think I did well on the details, (like hints toward the ore content, ore sediment from the exposed vein, that kind of thing), but the overall shape might be kinda funny- the back end slopes down too much, & it may just plain be too big.
Also, ...does it look too much like a bird head?

Any resident geologists in the house that can point out how I fucked it up?
I can provide a link if anyone wants a closer look.

Oh hey and what the hell should I put in that little cavern besides mushrooms?
