Spoiler (click to show/hide)

This is a papyrus from a RPG forum game I'm planning it will be about ancient pyramid full of treasure that gator-men/fairy squirrels/bird-men will try to pilfer. It will be presented like this but of course just as extras, the rest will be text v: (it will also include papyrusized character sheets and other such minutiae).

But back to topic: is it readable? It's supposed to be small but long, but readibility is important. Also, can you make out the story behind this papyrus or does it require more details to be understood?

I think it's very good! The art style is both clear and nice-looking.
My interpretation of the story is that gator-dude is walking and he walks up to a building (an inn, I'm guessing from context) where he gives a red birdman money. He goes to sleep in the red birdman's inn, and then two orange birdmen join the red to kill him in his sleep. They take his money and leave his dismembered body for the crows.
The only thing I'm unsure of is the white-mabobber on gator-dudes head. It seems to be a part of his body, but I can't tell what.

It looks like either a hat (that he hangs up on his bed-post) or a sword slung on his back (that the birdmen use to murderize him).

Tiny tip in emulating Egyptian art :3 (As far as I recall)
They always showed the full body--as in, arms and legs, with the palms facing the viewer. (It followed their belief that if an arm or leg was missing...as the depictions were interpreted to be distinct to those they depicted...well, afterlife would reflect.)
My wording is messy.
That is nice art.

So you're saying all of those animal men are missing their livers?

:P I know, sorry Tiruin. But where their hands are covering their torsos is iirc where their livers are.

I think it means betrayal (without knowing why though, I think its with the harvest or...drought?) :O
It easily conveys a message though--the problem is how it is interpreted (which doesn't mean its your problem now, I think, because -small details matter-).
Something with the sun and moon also seems to matter there, given how the betrayal happened when the gatorman was asleep.

Hey I like this thread.

Character design I did recently while rehabilitating my arm (messed up rotator cuff):

Watermark is mine, but I wouldn't recommend you hunt me down on that name unless you like cocks of the non felt variety though.  :P
