Doublepost as want to know something: which is nicer? One is more twee, but also more experimental. Cliched scene, I know, but I'm tired and want to get an update done.

I think you're missing the detail in that I seem to literally have a mental illness that causes the things I draw and the things I see to become heavily distorted.
Maybe you can find a style where this serves you?
That's how I draw, as seen in the ISG in my sig.

I'm a fan of the bottom, it seems more 'lively'

I like the first one best. The second seems fairly... Well, bland, to be honest. :I
Lineless drawings are hard to make work without any shading or details, and the uniform green grass field stands in stark contrast to the more detailed sky. If, perhaps, the sunset and clouds were drawn in a similar manner, it might look more coherent/intentionally stylized.

@Cinder: Psh, you're a shit ton better than i was when i was 17, even with my past preference for pixel art taken into account. You doin' good broholmes!

edit: also obligatory fugly speedpaint

I'm a tad bit jealous, really. Here I am, 17 years old and unable to draw things.
[...]I think you're missing the detail in that I seem to literally have a mental illness that causes the things I draw and the things I see to become heavily distorted.
Ciiiin? I'll nudge you hard on your specificity again :P
I'm unsure how you've learned how to describe yourself with such...severity, but please balance it out with critical thinking here. o_o
Self-esteem issues?

Either way--chill on the jelly. I only started drawing when I was 18. That's after years of observation and study--but no field practice. I had to constantly listen to music [I liked] to get the flow going.
And then it came out well :D Problem is, self-judgements.
So...dude, you can seriously draw things. Just adjust that wording there to 'draw things to my expectations' or something. :P

...And no, you don't have a mental illness there. Maybe a sleight of perception, but seriously not an illness. From how it comes off online anyway. -.-

...Because this looks pretty normal. Maybe confusion of perspective (which is what I am messy with) but...really. Mental illness is quite a leap [and can easily be confused if you're unsure what you're describing is messy at...unless this IS REALLY what has been told to you and is NOT self-diagnosed instead.]

That's an actual thing. It's called 'how people normally draw things they see'. I'm intimately familiar with it, being only partway through the treatment. The cure is called 'an obscene amount of practice', but the treatment usually goes faster if you take regular doses of Loomis and tutorials.

Seriously dude, you're doing fine. Don't panic.

While I am quite proud of my ability to draw faces (as long as I don't want to draw a specific face) (I'll have to upload faces at some point) I am not nearly on that level. I can't put together a coherent scene of any kind. You are doing fine.

Wait, if you use that, are proportions locked?

Cin, if it helps, Araph details the thing that happened to me extremely well.
I draw by insight--sight and mind sight. :P
His cure works. ;3
That cure is diluted by a ton of self-doubt, esteem issues and other stuffs which affect quality of practice/motivation.

Not necessarily.

You can be silly with proportions. Space cat (Spehss _ ...dude, you seriously spaced the _! Renamed again huh XD) details only one part of the full bbcode.

Code: [Select]
[img height=x width=x] img url [/img]x = # of pixels.
And you can have fun with those proportions. You can set it as freely as you want. It's a nice guide-from-scratch to know basic proportions in pixels (according to standardized measures).

IF its one or the other--the one not mentioned in the code stays 'locked', however.
