I could make clay tablets, but engraving ANYTHING on them other than dead dwarves' memorials is, AFAIK, impossible.

Pygmy dwarves now exist! If they work, they will be hiveable and will make miniature iron fortresses. If they don't work...well, let me know.
Pygmy dwarves should appear in any non-freezing, benign biome and possibly in caverns.

Sure thing.

Has anyone, by any chance, had a chance to play this mod?

I've been a bit busy, but I can give it a go sometime. Is the whole folder "raw_industry" included in the download needed for the mods to work properly? Would I just need to drag and drop raws between sessions of fort mode for an industry fort and non-industry fort?

Just curious since past experience with mods short of Masterwork only need to drop a txt file into the raws to work.

Also, would the pygmy dwarves generate mini iron fortresses on their own from their hives or do will they use up iron bars or something?

Thanks! Yeah, the whole objects folder will be needed, a lot of files needed or will need to be changed.
As neat as it would be to make the pygmy dwarves make the mini-forts out of metals they are provided with, I don't know how to do that.

You misunderstand, I was more interested in the enslavement of partnership with the pygmy dwarves.

See, they build the iron mini fortresses with their little magical pygmy dust out of thin air, and the big dwarves admire them for a bit and then melt them down for real metal goods, like making steel weapons or armor or mugs to throw at goblins!

It'd be a beautiful system!

Also, you can get extracts from their corpses.

That's the general use of mini-fortresses for now. Maybe they'll be able to be emptied to get a mixture of alcohol and blood, and some tiny weapons and stuff, but free iron seems sufficient. Maybe they should be stone, but with little iron weapons or something.

I've added some reactions to make concrete to the mod, although I haven't uploaded them yet. They consist of a reaction to grind rock at a quern or millstone and a reaction to turn bags of rock into concrete boulders.

There are now candles and ways to light them. Candles can be made from wax or bought from elves. Currently, the only thing they're good for is being lit on their wooden stands and setting things on fire.

Any other ideas, and how could I make bee armor?

You would need a metal, called "Bees", a means to produce "Bar of bees", and reactions for smithing things, out of bees.

Obviously, but how do I make them actually use bees?

You could always make a special type of bee that in its hive produces a bar of bees. That way when you harvest it, it makes sense that it destroys the bees and hive, because they have been made into a bar.

You should be able to reference an animal material to create a bar. No reason not to have meat bars.

I'll consider something like this.

You should be able to reference an animal material to create a bar. No reason not to have meat bars.
The problem is how to bars. Or blocks, I'm not sure...
