Thanks BeruangSarkis. That looks amazing, I can't believe how much effort you've put into it!

AW YEAH. Welcome back.

Mkay, so on the first fort I ever tried cracking the HFS in, it went terribly (obviously). Luckily for me, the fort was very spread out over the z-layers, with lots of chokepoints, and the HFS went down to the magma forges before coming up to the fortress proper. Unluckily for me, I thought that drafting everyone into the military would make the demons go away. A few fiery explosions of gore later, and I'm down from 180+ dwarves to 2. The demons are busy 7 levels down in the catacombs, defiling every coffin and slab they can find, which seems pretty demony to me, and, meanwhile, I had one dwarf child running about in the residential areas and another dwarf, my mayor, lying in hospital, dying of a combo of slow necrosis syndrome and my-leg-is-gone syndrome. After going down to check on the demons one last time before abandoning, I come up to the residential level and see that the child is gone. I look around, and find her in the hospital. Not resting wounds, she was fine, just having a meeting with the mayor. The mayor, suffering from mortal and very painful injuries, is spending his last remaining moments comforting a child he's never met. He dies soon afterwards. Before I abandoned, I checked the girl's thoughts. There was only one positive one: "Was pleased to make a new friend recently."

DRAW THE FEELS.

Only the first request and it's already a doozy. Gonna have to make this a multi-parter.

Spoiler:  Here's page one. (click to show/hide)

This is awesome. just saying.

In a hole in the ground there lived a dwarf. Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell, nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a dwarf fortress, and that means magma.

A human caravan turns up, and I'm getting ready to trade, when all of a sudden:

Thief!  Protect the horde from the skulking filth!

Before I can do anything about it, one of the human caravan guards steps in to solve the problem, in a suitably terminal fashion:

The Kobold Thief Sidibulmis is fighting!
The Human Crossbowman Ata Neltiikar is fighting!

The flying ({iron bolt}) strikes the Kobold Thief in the head, tearing the muscle, fracturing the skull and tearing the brain!
An artery has been opened by the attack!
A tendon in the skull has been torn!

The Kobold Thief has been knocked unconscious!
The Kobold Thief is propelled away by the force of the blow!
The Kobold Thief's head skids along the ground, bruising the muscle and shattering the skull!
The Kobold Thief slams into an obstacle!

(And yes, that was the entire fight log.  One headshot, with very spectacular results).

Engraved on the floor is a well-designed image of a kobold and a carp.  The kobold is making a plaintive gesture.  The carp is laughing.

Lucky. I got a single kobold thief three times, and on the third time, it was killed by a titan. I never saw another one again.

This is the admin stealing a sword.
I know, it's not too good.  Just wanted to draw something.  Sorry, didn't mean to hijack the thread or anything.
Do you draw pictures of dwarves?

Artwork looks nice. Do other peoples suggestions first, but when you get to mine get cracking! (Please.)

I had my militia started and they was noobz, so I took a Goblin who had struck a cage trap and locked him in the arena. I sent the dwarves in and opened the cage. I expected them to hack him up with their 2 axes and 1 sword but to their surprise, the goblin shanked the fuck out of them. The first axedwarf died almost instantly from a slash to the jugular. The second axedwarf was stabbed in the center of the back, turning him paraplegic. The swordsdwarf got a slash on his arm before he cut the goblin IN HALF. So the bisected goblin lie dead next to the forever scarred dwarf. He was my first and only veteran and was bed bound for the rest of his life. I like to think he sits in the hospital everyday wishing he could kill the goblins that lurk outside my fort.

Or maybe he has Shellshock (shankshock if you will) and is just trembling every time a surgeon enters the room. Draw what you will out of this.

Bonus cookies to a two-parter.

Jarloth Steellungs is my current dwarf wrestler, who enjoys breaking everyone's knees and elbows and then working his way down from fingers to toes to ankles to wrists to arms to legs to gouging the eyes. And if he has a knife (though he prefers sharp rocks) he'll remove their ears, nose and tongue but only after kicking their teeth out.
