Title: Brute: SG
Post by: chubby2man on October 18, 2019, 12:28:02 pm
Brute.
All your strength rolls result in a 6.
Everything else gives you a 1.

What is your Name?:
Gender?:

You thought you were a normal child, just a bit stronger than usual and that no one seemed to like you.
Then your mother told you the truth.
A. You were blessed by the Divine Ox I your mothers womb (will grow massive muscles)
B. Your mother was seduced by the Angel of War (claim angelic inheritance)
C. A mother’s desperate wish to give her child strength fame true, but the child also drains that strength from the world around them. (Gains additional power from defeated foes.)
D.Something else.

Probably won’t be a long lived game, but should go quickly. Will take first responses, or most upvoted based on how quick I respond.

You are Rogg “Meatface”,  a boy cursed by a mother desperate.

Your mother soon grew weak and frail, but you provided for her, doing more household chores than 2 men could. She always appreciated you, even as other children called you Meatface behind your back.

But to care for his weak mother was not to be Roggs fate. What happened next?

A. An Orcish raiding party finds your village.
B. An lord comes to conscript lads for the army.
C. A beast prowls the woods near the village.
D. Something else?

That’s crazy and I like it.

You come back from collecting kindling for his mother fireplace when you hear a literally ungodly wail echo through the village. Your hut bursts into flames, and from the fire a tall spindly incarnation of pure evil throws your mother down the hill. You hear bones break as she falls. Fires erupt all over the village, and a gleaming hellpit has sprouted in the center of the village. You feel your vision go red.

What do you do?
A. Attack the demon.
B. Pick up your mother and run.

The Demon glares at you contemptuously, at least until your punch sends it flying through the hut, sending blazing wood everywhere. It looks at you in shock as you scream and tackle it and beginning pummeling it’s head, sending ichor flying. Breathing heavily you stand to your feel. The heat grows less oppressive, and the flames around you no longer hurt as they once did.

The village still burns and the help gate remains open. Your mother cries for help. What do you do?

(It was your suggestion with supers name)

(Got it, thanks.)

Grab her and run to safety, kicking demon ass as we encounter it.
In a rush, you run your mother and despite her cries of pain, sling her over your shoulder and prepare to run out the village. An imp leaps at you, face contorted in rage and hunger and with a backhand you crack its skull, sending it flopping backwards limp.

You run deep into the forest and lay your crying mother down. She grips your arms with a desperate strength.
“It’s too late for me, go, save yourself my son!”

What do you do?
A. Leave her and continue on, though it breaks you heart.
B. So your best to staunch her bleeding and carry her on.
C. Go back, and make those demons regret coming here.

You hold your mother’s hand as her life fades. She tells you that you are a good son, but that you should go. You lie and tell her that you will. She smiles, blood trickling from her mouth. “My son, you are a terrible liar. Go with the gods, my son. I love you.” And with that she fades.

Rage, a black terrible Rage fills you. You march back, hardly aware of where your feet take you. The village is in ruins, demons prowl and fly in the sky. Old Harris, the grey headed veteran of 3 kings wars, lay disemboweled, his bastard sword skewering his head. An axe lay embedded in a tree stump you pass, left in the panic. The demons notice your presence and cry, surging towards you. You return a savage cry, and rush to meet them.

Do you grab a weapon?
A. The sword.
B. The axe.
C.  Just use your fists.

Title: Re: Brute: SG

A goat headed demon leaped at you, a chain whirling about his head. It whipped out, and caught your arm, wrapping around it several times. You yanked it, fling the demon at you. As it scrambled to its feet, you flung the chain around it head and twisted, increasing the pressure as it’s eyes bulged and bleated, until it’s head exploded in a shower of gore. The demon host paused at this, even as you dropped the headless corpse and roared defiance.
You pulled the sword free just in time to parry a demons claws, and a quick counter stroke left it streaming ichor from a deep rent in its side. A diving harpy received a blade plunging into its face, tearing the sword from your grip as you rolled to axe, tearing free the stump itself in your haste. The stump you sent flying in the direction of an archer demon, breaking its bow and chest as the stump smashed into it.

Your Rage was not quenched.

Wielding axe, and retrieving the sword, your blows scattered demons. One tried to attack from behind, only to lose its head for the trouble. A snake demon tried to constrict you, but it could not contain your strength and you tore it in half just trying to free your arms.

Finally an armored Black Knight stood before you. He extended his Greatsword at you, blood dripping from the tip.
“Join us, and you will find such glory in battle that you cannot imagine. The Great Demon Lords themselves will shower one with such potential as yourself with whatever his heart desires.”

What do you do?

Your Rage was not yet quenched.

You dropped your weapons, the battered and chipped sword and axe. The Knight’s grip tightened on the sword. No more words were needed.

You lunge forward with a roar. The Knight sidesteps, his sword in a perfect arc to take your head off. You duck backwards, turning into a slide a hairsbreath underneath the blade. The roar of battle fills your ears and heart as you take advantage of the opening and crater the knights armor with a punch. The Knight stumbles and brings his sword up in a desperate defense, but you knock the sword aside as you pummel the Knight. His armor, thick black steel, crumbles underneath the rain of blows. You don’t stop once the steel gives way to flesh and blood, as the Knight gaps to the ground. Your fists bleed from cuts form the armor, but you don’t stop until the inside of the Knight are splattered across the ground.

Finished you stand. No demons remain, and even the demon gate, erupting from the ground, has gone silent. Around you the village is ruined, and everyone you knew is dead. Even those who called you Meatface are gone.

What do you do?
A. There is a castle not too far from here. Maybe you can help there.
B. You have an uncle in the city. Maybe you should go there.
C. Something else?

Do you take the Knights Greatsword?

Hmm since the vote is tied. . .

You finish shoveling the last of the dirt over your mother. The work of digging and then filling it had drained the last dregs of the anger that had filled you, leaving you empty. For now at least. You swore over your mother’s body that Hell itself would regret taking her from him.

“Rogg?” You turn around to see a tear streaked girl, Alina. She was a few years older and had been kind but mostly ignored you. She rushed to you, but stops. Her eyes wander your body, “Rogg. . . What happened?”

You look down. You clothes are stained with ichor, but your body has grown larger, muscles more prominent. You already discovered that flames no longer harmed you.

What do you do?
A. Explain that you defeated all the demons due to your curse making you stronger.
B. Offer to help her get to either the city or the town.
C. Say as little as possible, try to get moving.
D. Something else?

You turn to Alina angrily. “Those Demons kill my mam, so I kill them.” She stepped back, eyes wide and face pale. Seeing her afraid, you tried to reassure her. “Do you have anybody in the castle or city? I can help take you there. “

At this, her face crumbles and she sits down, crying in great heaving sobs, “I lost everyone I known! The village is gone, everyone is dead! I’ll die from the cold or hunger or demons. What am I going to do?!”

What do you do?
A. Reassure her she can find a new life in the castle or city.
B. Ehh seems kinda a waste of time. Just leave and she can follow if she wants.

You come up behind her and pat her on the shoulder, sending her sprawling with a sharp cry of pain. As she back up away from you, you try to reassure her, “There’s lots of stuff you can do in a castle or city. You probably won’t even be on the streets for that long! You can find work in the kitchens or washing or something!”
She looks around frantically, “ I don’t know, I don’t know! I don’t have anything here, where are you going?”
 A. Head to Castle, they may help you get your revenge.
B. Head to City, you can start to restore your family with your uncle.

You begin waking in the direction of where you think the castle is, where revenge, glory and death await. You strap the Black Knight’s greatsword to your back. You somehow sense it has accepted you as master.
Alina asks if you know where you are going, you confidently answer yes.

After 3 days and several trails ending in dead ends, you admit that you are completely lost. Alina also has no idea where you are, and she begins to panic as she counts your remaining stores of food.

“My my my what do we have here? Two lost babes in the woods? That’s a nice sword you got there boy, mind sharing it?” A ragged wry man hopped down from an overlooking rock as 10 other rough men emerged from the woods, weapons in hand. Alina cried in fear, you just smile as you grab your sword. It seems you have found a source of directions after all.

What do you do?
A. Attack the bandits immediately, leave one alive.
B. Ask them for food and directions, if they don’t comply leave one alive.
C. Something else? Inspire them to join you somehow?

“Sirs, would you mind giving us directions to the Castle? And some food would be nice.”
The bandit leader looked at the others in confusion, even Alina looked a bit askance at you.
The bandit leader smiled harshly then, “I wouldn’t worry about Castle Yurnspire, you got some more pressing concerns at the moment.” They begin to close the circle around you.

You nod, “Well, at least it seems you know where we are.”

6
You step forward and kick, your foot connecting and shattering the leaders knee. He drops with a cry as arrows loose at you, but you easily dodge them. A bandit with an axe run to you, but blade cuts through his axe and then his body as he charges, sending 2 half’s flying. A woman, a cry on her lips and swords in hand charges as a man with a spear comes from the opposite direction. You spin out of the way of the spear, allowing you to snap your elbow into the chin of the women, causing a large crack as her head snapped back. The spearman tried to dodge your sword, but you do not miss as your sword crashes down on his head, ending near his navel. You grab his spear and turn and throw it at the archer drawing back on his bow. The spear plunged through his chest and flung him into a tree, where he hung impaled.

A bandit desperately tried to slip behind Alina, but you are upon him in a blink, crashing into him shoulder first, pulverizing his ribs.
After that, the others begin to run away, leaving the bandit leader.

What do you do?
A. Have the bandit Tell Alina how to get to the castle, and have her lead the way.
B. Have the bandit tell you where his camp is, might be able to get some loot.
C. Something else?

You drag the bandit behind you, to his loud protestations as you follow his directions to the camp. As you near it, an arrow flys from the woods into your shoulder!

6
Roaring in anger, you heave the bandit leader from behind your back and throw him 20 yards into the archer, who goes down in a tangle of limbs. You rip the arrow out. Your blood steams on the tip, and the wound clots quickly. You feel only a little pain, not enough to be distracting. 3 bandits rush you. You don’t bother to pull out your sword. You rush forward, grab the leading mans arm and spin him into the second man, you hear and feel a large crack as their bones break. You brush the last mans weapon aside, punch him in the gut, and then break his neck.

1
You loot the camp, there are a few pieces of bread and a 10 copper coins. They were just as desperate as you. The bandit leader, body broken, tells you how to get to the castle. You let him know that if you don’t find it you will return.
6
The bandit leader closes his eyes and tells you the true way to get there. Satisfied, you stand and walk back to Alina, who you tell the directions to.

Do you try to bond with Alina on the journey?
A. Yeah!
B. No, don’t make things worse.

“Hey Rogg. . .” Alina starts.
“My friends call me Meatface,” Rogg interrupts with a smile.
“I’m. . . not going to call you Meatface.”
“Well I guess I’m not your friend then, huh?” Rogg jokes, but Alina’s face remains troubled.

The two of you continue on to the castle, exchanging few words. After another day of travel, you begin to hear the unearthly din of demons. Alina grows increasingly frightened, as your determination grows. You keep watch for any prowling demons. Finally you crest the final hill.

You are too late.

The walls of the castle are broken down and melted, and shadowy hordes stream through the gaps. There is a terrible noise of steel and screams.
Alina grabs your arm, “Lets go back, we are too late.”

What do you do?
A. Turn around and try to make your way to the city.
B. These demons have ransacked their last castle. Attack the back lines, cause havoc. Kill every demon that stands in your way.
C. Fight your way to the castle. Maybe some can be saved.

Blade in hand you charge, revenge in your heart and defiance on your lips. The Abyss will not claim this place as long as you draw breathe.

You collide with their back line, archers, sorcerers and warriors held in reserve, celebrating their part in the victory. They stand no chance against you.

Your blade is death, every blow tearing through defenses. Ichor sprays in the air as you sprint through their lines, every kill making you stronger. A Black Knight moves into your path, and only takes two blows to remove his head from his shoulders.

You feel so much stronger, faster than before. You are a reaper, harvesting your bloody revenge as you work your way up the broken rubble of the wall. They are aware of you now, the horde recoiling on itself as it tries to defeat you. You build to a furious tempo, slaying left and right as the broken body’s of demons spread across the ground until a boulder smashes into you.

You roll to your feet, a bit shaken as a great Demon Lord approaches and laughs at you, it’s laughter shaking the ground.
“What a specimen you are! I will take great joy in adding your skull to my hoard!”
His axe is broad and viscous, two men would struggle to lift it. Your sword has grown chipped through the hundreds of demons you have cut down.

May be time for a replacement.

What do you do?

You grab the boulder in your hands, and throw it with all your might against the Demon Lord. It slams into him with a mighty crack, splintering into many pieces as the demon bellows laughter.

The axe whistles down towards you, like a crack of thunder it split the air. You bare your teeth, rage pounds in your heart and gives you strength as you block the blow with the sword. The dark steel screams and breaks in two, but you grab the handle of the axe. The monsterous lord, body swelling with darkness, tries to heave it away, he finds you unyielding. His body strains as he tries to tear it away from you, and as he fails his anger turns into panic. With cold resolve you reach out with your other hand and grab his. The darkness inside the Dark Lord tries to burn you, but it can find no purchase on your skin as you squeeze and break his hand.

The lord cries out in pain as you tear the axe from his grip and swing it down, embedding it deep within his body. You tear the axe out and swing again, and again until the Demon Lord is little more than a pile of ichor. The demonic host cries it’s dismay. You just wear a vicious grin.

What do you do now?
A. Your vengeance is not yet quenched. Kill as many demons as you can.
B. Try to find survivors, you broke the horde’s leadership now it is time to protect those who might still be alive.

A roar of rage fills the castle as the brave and ambitious of the demons charge, and the cowardly fled. Your new axe and fist claimed their fill, slaying and hewing through crowds. You shattered swords and shields, leaving broken and twisted metal. The ichor stains the ground black. Men begin to peer from the keep, as the demons are drawn back to either fight you or flee. You are a whirlwind, consumed in battle.

Many minutes pass until finally there are none left. Your axe lays embedded deep in a large bullheaded demon, and it’s pitifully bellows in pain. With half attention paid, you stomp the head into nothingness.

You feel... different. You look down and hardly recognize yourself. What are you?

A. The Paragon: Use your strength bonus to lead and inspire men. You are no angel or demon. You are the strength of men personified. You may be cursed, but you will bear this burden and lead your people from this dark age.

B. The Demon Prince: For too long, the denizens of Hell had no fear of this world. That changes now. Gain the power to use your strength bonus to control flame, and more importantly, open a Hellgate to and from the Abyss. You will travel to their darkened thrones and tear them down, even at the cost of your soul. Your mother would have hated this, but   they have taken her from you. And They. Will. Pay.

C. The God of War: You are death and war and  destruction. Channel your power into your weapons, so that they become extensions of you. You will be lead from battle to battle by a fiery chariot, horses called Ruin and Woe. An aura around you sucks the life from your foes. The enemies of man shall fear what they have wrought.

D. Or maybe something else? Or maybe you try to renounce your curse/gift?

A. The Paragon: Use your strength bonus to lead and inspire men.

I think this means we get to roll sixes when gathering and leading armies. So my vote is for A

Oh! Well that's perfect then!

You were still Human, but almost perfected somehow. Your body was tall and almost radiant, rippling with well defined muscle. Men came out of the castle, wide eyed in wonder. They knelt before, the paltry few that they were. They were haggard from hard fighting, but they seemed to be restored slightly by your presence. Even the lord of the castle, wounded, trembled and bent his knee.

Observing them, you called out, “You have fought well and hard this day. You have laid down your bodies and many their lives. Today we have turned back the Darkness. This was to be an age of Darkness, but that Ends today!  Tomorrow, we will be the Dawn! Who is with me?!”

6

All the men and women stand and roar their approval. They have seen you fight, and they are yours now.

What do you do?
A. Rest and celebrate with a feast. Everyone is weary to the bone, and even you could use a breather.
B. Push on to the City, it is surely in danger.

You exhort these warriors on. “The people need us! There will be time for celebration later, for our labor is not yet finished!”

With you inspiring and leading them, they gather their weapons and equipment and march from the ruined castle, for the 3 days march to the city. (The City was called Caskbound, you were soon told)

1
But of course it could not be easy for you and you men. At night, for you could march no more and needed rest, a sorcerous blast hit the rocks above you, and so began an avalanche of stone. Your men cried out in panic as huge boulders began to tumble down the hill towards the camp.

What do you do to save your men? (Be aware that really no matter how ridiculous, if it involves strength or leadership, I have to give a 6, ensuring almost too much success)

Then clearly we must order our allies to keep out of the way as we uproot a nearby pine and set it horizontally against the oncoming tide of stone, thus blocking the avalanche completely!

If there is no tree nearby suitable to our purpose... catch boulders and chuck them at other boulders. We're good at chucking boulders.

You rush to the edge of the camp, commanding that everyone move away from the avalanche. Live a wave they do so, leaving you alone as the tumbling stones come ever closer. You grab one tree and with a mighty yank you uproot it. You transfer it to one hand and you grab an equally mighty tree and heave it from the earth.

Two trees in hand you rush back to the center and extend both trees out, making a makeshift wall. Boulder collide with the trunks and stop cold, tremors shaking your arms. One stone flies directly towards you, but you headbutt it and it shatters into chips. Finally the last stone settles, and you set the trees down. Your camp has a new wall!

You approach the city, though you see the foundations of a massive Hellgate before you see the city itself. The city sits in a wide flat valley with a river coursing through the middle. The city appears to be holding,  but even as you watch, the Hellgate actives and legions of Black Knights march out.

You have a ragged band of 140 infantry (all the horses died), set against the might of thousands.

What do you do?
A. Lead your forces to the gates of the city. The walls will not fall on your watch, and you will (probably) gain the command of the city guard.
B. March to the Hellgate, they will never reach the city, for you are vengeance. Walls will only slow you down.
C. Something else? (My options aren’t optimized, generally being the first few things I think you can do. Feel free to improve suggestions!)

Hmm I don’t think you can use leadership to summon things from across time and space but...

You stand before your warriors, and you tell them about what they face, and the victory that will be theirs. You tell them that before you stand 140 of the greatest warriors of man. Your words wash over them, stripping them of their fear and leaving only courage in its wake.

The 141 charged down the hill, possessed by a righteous fury. They were no longer just tired and ragged warriors, they were unstoppable champions.

They waited for you, long deep lines of Black Knights, unbreakable and unshaken, spears and swords poised and ready to strike. You struck their lines like a meteor, blazing through their lines. Their thick armor crumpled and shattered, bodies thrown into the air like leaves in a gale. Behind you the 140 warriors charged behind you. While not matching your strength, they were inspired and unstoppable. They moved faster than what should have been possible, strong and sure in their strikes. The legions of the Black Knights fell before them. Each Black Knight could take on 20 human warriors comfortably. Now each Knight has to wield al of his skill to fend off one.

As the battle raged on, it seemed that a portion of your enemies strength went to your champions, for they too did not tire in battle, instead only growing more determined. Terrible blows and amazing skill at arms was shown on both sides, as you bore through their ranks, the outcome became certain as your warriors cut more and more down. Never before had such fearsome battle taken place in the world.

All 140 of your champions arrived with you at the Hellgate, the legion of black knights broken as before you stood what surely must of been a Prince of Hell. Standing 8 meters tall, it rippled with the power of death itself. Black steel burned with dark flame, covering the monster from head to toe. In one hand lay such a beautiful sword it must have been claimed from the Heavens themselves, but a dark virulent power coursed through it. Surrounding it was a fearsome guard of monsterous Knights, transformed by dark powers. Your champions fell to their knees from the sheer presence of the Prince, and even you felt it’s unearthly power. It raised its hand to you and beckoned.

What do you do?

A savage grin comes to your lips at the invitation. With a roar you launch yourself at the demonic prince, and your duel begins. Your axe whistles through empty air as the prince steps aside with sudden swiftness. His counter strike falls, aimed to take your head in a fell swoop, but you turn it aside with a flash as you bring your axe to bear.

His deathly aura crowds and chokes you, trying to draw your strength away. But yours is the strength of all Humanity, which fears not death but embraces it as it’s own. For a few long moments the darkness surrounds you, but it finds no purchase on your soul. It dissipates from you as you rise.

The prince nods at you in respect, his swords falls like lightening, and your axe rises to meet it. Your blows split air and earth in a furious exchange, faster than thought. You operate on pure instinct, pushed to your limit when you score the first scratch in the Prince’s armor. Then another. You draw the first blood, your axe cutting deep in the prince’s leg. He roars in anger and kicks you away. He turns, and enormous black wings split from his back and he takes to the air, fleeing fast.

What do you do?
A. While you can’t fly, perhaps you can jump and bring him down.
B. Trust your arm, throw your axe and sever the wings from his back.
C. Finish off the remaining demons, you will find the prince and his sword later.
D. Something else?

Your eyes narrowed as you observed your target, and you took a running start. Each step shook the ground, and you leapt into the air, cratering the earth you stood on.

You hurtled yourself like a missile at the fleeing prince, and he was unprepared for your assault. You both plummeted to the ground with a cry, his of fear and pain and yours of a dreadful triumph. His body digs a trench through the earth.

With a roar you punch your fists through his back, causing the demonic prince to scream. You remember your mother and your heart hardens as your hands embedded in the demons body lift it off the ground. You pull and strain, and with a final cry you tear the Demonic Prince in half.

You exhale, splattered in demonic ichor has you felt a wild strength pour into your body. You glance at the sword, which seems to quiver and call to you.

What do you do?
A. Summon the Lost Sword of Heaven to yourself. Can be transformed into a different shape, or even a different melee weapon, if you wish.
B. Destroy the Sword, take some of its power for yourself.

C: Synchronize our soul with the sword, and make it an extension of our very being.

Since it is rather similar to A.

The Lost Sword of Heaven flew into your hand. Immediately it tried to corrupt you, sending a dark wave into your hand. But with that power you gained from the Demon Prince, you purged the darkness and sent power into the blade. It glowed as your strength courses through the blade. It widened, becoming straight and edged on both sides. It grew noticeably heavier, but was perfectly balanced for you. Heavenly script ran down the blade. You could not read it, but it promised death to evil and boasted of its strength. It was a peerless blade, and no longer lost.

It was the Sword of Man.

The remainder of the legion fell on you in a fury, but they were but leaves before your storm as you swept through them. Your Sword cut through their arms and armor like a hot knife through butter. The last Black was brave, and made a desperate lunge. You cut through his blade and then his head.

The Hellgate had darkened with the death of the Prince, and started to crumble into dust. Your champions finished off the honor guard, and was cleaning up the rest of the demons. Within the hour the field was clear, and you and 120 of your warriors (for 20 had fallen honorably in battle) went to the gates of the city.

1

A knight peered over the battlements and called out, “Who and what are you? What are your intentions with Caskbound?”

What do you do?
A. “I am Rogg Meatface, I only seek rest and comfort for my warriors and myself.”
B. “Open these gates at once! How dare you disrespect us like this after we have saved your lives?”

“I am here to lead humanity against the demons! Will you swear allegiance to the cause?” The Knight looks back and seems to confer with others. He turns back,
“You fight like no man, more like a demon! We will not risk you and your berserkers in our city! We will give you provisions as thanks, and then we would ask you to move on from our walls.”

You blinked in shock. Never would you have expected such offense would be offered. A balding man, Sir Fronel, one of your champions, stepped forward in anger.

“How dare you! We have turned back the legions of the Abyss, and this is the thanks we get!? You have brought great dishonor on yourselves!”

The Knight turned back in a rage, “Dishonor? We would have turned back those miserable creatures from our walls! Go before we riddle you with arrows!” Archers appear at the walls, eyes wary and arrows nocked.

What do you do?

I just want to note that being terrified of you, the people of this city would reasonably throw a feast in your name and lavish you with gifts to put you in a good mood. With a rolled one, however, that fear has made them unreasonable to a point. Just in case anyone was feeling cheated, I agree with you :P

You turn to depart, unwilling to deal anymore with the fearful and stubborn inhabitants of the city. Perhaps the Knight negotiating thought it was an opportunity, or he became greedy for the sword on your back. Either way, a longbowman loosed an arrow at your back. Instead of sinking through your throat, Sir Fronel stepped in way, and sacrificed his life for yours, the arrow piercing through his right eye. He collapsed to the ground with a moan. Your men are shocked into silence, even the men on the battlements seem to hold their breathe.

You crouch and leap into the air, it takes only a moment for your to roll onto the gatehouse. The longbowman who fired the arrow you decapitate with a quick swing of the sword. His body and head drop to the ground as the Knight and others on the gatehouse freeze in fear. You point your sword at the Knight,
“I expect those provisions.”

Without another word you leap down back your men. Your champions stare at the gate and wall in anger, and several bows are nocked and ready to fire. You tell them to march on, but though they comply they do so with grumbles, and Sir Fronel’s brother, still hugging the warm bloody, swears bloody vengeance against the city.

The Hell gate had crumbled into stumps by the time you approach. It would offer no entry to you and yours. Perhaps you had managed to stop the invasion? Somehow you doubted it. You summon a war council of your more educated champions.
What is your next step?
A. Go to the next nearest city, known as Elmhome.
B. Go to the capital of Kingsgarden, and seek the King’s guidance.

Your council confers and comes up with a few options for you to choose. While they don’t really understand why you want to go north, there are a few options to visit.

A. The Mountain King’s Hall. Even you have heard of this place, for its wealth was nigh unimaginable. A whole human kingdom was supported by selling foodstuffs and other goods to it. No one other than a dwarf may enter its halls, though. But for men who would follow you into the Abyss itself, it is nothing.

B. Citadel of Cernas. A rival kingdoms fortress on the border of your homeland. Might be a good place to either sack, or perhaps forge unity against the Abyss.

C.The Dark Scar. A large Orcish fortress from which prowl maurader bands and hordes of warriors. Might be a good place to investigate.

D. None of those are interesting. Onwards to Lorchus!

Your destination and route decided, you move your camp away from the city and battleground. The provisions from the city arrive, and though it is simple fare, you and your champions tear into it with relish.

1
However, your champions soon start to become sick, throwing up violently and laying on the ground, unable to move. You yourself feel slightly sluggish. As you run water to the sick, you hear the march of hundreds of men. The city guards have come for you. The knights leading it seem to be surprised and dismayed to see you on your feet. They confer quickly and shout at you,

“Surrender yourself to us, and we will take care of your poisoned men!”

What do you do?

I am loath to begin fighting our fellow men, but surrender is not an option.

Give a show of strength to intimidate the city guards, and demand antidote to the poison and fresh supplies.

Hopefully this will work since this is pure intimidation based on strength, and not real diplomacy.

You stride toward them, anger blazing in your heart. How could they be so stupid, so blind? The Knight walls forward, as if to accept your surrender. You continue your pace. He commands you to halt. You do not. He unsheathes his sword and brings it down in a heavy chop. You grab the blade with your bare hand, stopping it cold. He pales as you stare into his eyes.

You squeeze, and the blade shatters.

He stumbles back in a panic as you look at your hand, blood trickling down as your body already begins to heal itself. You glare at the Knight who has vexed you so.
“Healing for my men. Now.”
He stammers for a moment, “Well, we actually... don’t have a cure for the poisen. Most will survive though-“

You pick him up and hurl him as hard as you could manage, high and far in the direction of the city. His cry quickly fades from earshot. The 500 or so guards still in fear.

You look over the crowd of men and point to a young guard.
“Go back to the city and grab all the priests you can. The rest of you will stand vigil in prayer to the gods above for the survival of these men. And pray earnestly, for every man who dies I will claim 100 lives from you.”

All 500 lay down their weapons under your watchful gaze. A few try to flee, but when you run in front of them they quickly return. Some volunteer to help nurse the poisoned, and the rest form a circle and pray and hope.

The priest come, and the vigil lasts throughout the night as you wait.

In the morning, the sickness breaks. 20 of your men are dead. The guards tremble in fear for the cost as you stand in judgement before them.

What do you do?
A. Their lives are now forfeit, but you will use them. They may choose between joining you on your quest or death.
B. Kill them all, then kill 1500 more in the city to claim your price. Bloodthirsty but will satisfy your champions.
C. Something else?

A, make it clear that if any refuse to join not only will we kill them, but we will also go into the city and kill all of their relatives that live there. If they all join us then the city will be left untouched.

I don't really want to go back and commit a massacre against our fellow man, but...
we made a promise. We'll come off as weak if we don't fulfill it, potentially inviting further treachery.

With that in mind, here's the big question: did any of our own men hear that little ultimatum of ours?

If not... kill every last of our hostage foes, but don't bother with the city-massacre. None will be the wiser.
If so... well we'll have to assess the situation, but we'll likely be forced to carry out our promise as spoken.

A. We said we will claim their lives, not destroy them. We are now due 2,000 men. They may not be able to pay the full price, but make it clear that in time, we will need it due, with interest - say, a levy of 2,500 men should be given to us by the time their payment is completed. Attempting to refuse this price will lead directly to death.
After all, we have a war against hell itself to win.

Any objections? There shouldn't be, since this is supposed to be implicit in A, but I want to check.

You look over the assembled, terrified men.
“You’re lives are mine now, to spend as I wish. Your deaths will not come this day, unless by your choice. You will die in the dark, fighting against the monstrous and cruel. But I will promise that you will not die alone, that those who wish to see humanity enslaved or extinguished will fear your coming. We all will die one day. Let us make that day one that makes our foes tremble to remember!”

All 500 agree to serve. The city scrapes together another 500 men to give to you. The Lord of the city is stone faced when his son says goodbye to his mother and father and kneels before you pledging his service. Armound Barrel, the son of the lord, said that he was ashamed of his city’s actions, and if he had to give his life to expunge the city of its sins, so be it. The 1000 did cheer up a bit to hear of his noble sacrifice.

And so you departed for the Dark Scar. You have enough food for your party (and some camp followers) to comfortably reach the orc fortress about 12-13 days march.

Do you:

A. Send scouts to nearby villages and towns to gather information and ask for donations and volunteers. Will slow you down some.

B. Focus on reaching the Dark Scar. You will remain with the main group to protect against attack.

C. Something else?

You march through the kingdoms lands. It is beautiful, and you soak in the sights that you had never had the chance to see before. Villages, towns and rivers. There were scars and burned villages, but you see no more demons for the moment.

After a week you see fewer villages and towns, and the land becomes harder as you approach the Dark Scar. You know the stories, of how a thriving city was ruined by a dark ritual, and the orcs came and turned it into a dark fortress where disobedient children are taken.

Late on the 9th day, war horns erupt around your party, and great dark green monsters poured out of the scrabbly hills around you. The orcs had laid an ambush. There were hundreds, thousands even. Your men begin to cry out in panic.

What do you do?

“Men, stand your ground! These are nothing compared to the legions of hell!” You command, your voice rolling through the valley. A few more orders and you leapt through the air.

You came down like a meteor, slamming into the orcs ranks, splattering rock and dirt and blood over the surrounding orcs. They were quick, shifting their charge back to you. You blade flashed out, slicing them down, bodies bisected and heads flying. Some few meet your blade with their own weapons, but they couldn’t resist the Sword of Man. You kick out, foot slamming into a charging berserker. His chest broke and he flew back into the mob behind hi, knocking and breaking them down. You were a whirlwind, dealing death where ever you strode.

Your champions held the line, fighting like demons. The orcs came like a tide of pure ferocity. But they held strong. Where it seems to weaken, you carve a path to and buy a reprieve, and then make your way to the next point.
The horns sounded again when you tore the head off of one particularly large orc. The orc horde made a fairly coherent retreat, with a rearguard that didn’t relent even as you cut them down.

Near around a thousand orcs lay dead, for the cost a few dozen men, and none of your champions. There had never been a battle like this. Always the orc was the wolf to the human sheep. That changed today.

You march on, and though you see Orcish scouts occasionally, no large force opposes until you reach the outskirts of the Black Scar.
The first thing that grabs your eye is the large crevice that goes into the earth. It is perhaps a mile long and half as wide. All around it are large steel and iron walls, and a fortress that rises from the middle. Several causeways lead into it.

And those causeways are filled with orcs. Already the plains are full of them. Not just the lightly equipped orcs you fought earlier. These are armored head to go in steel. Your men give you the report. At least 40,000 wait for you down there, with more pouring from the fortress.

You are now at the Black Scar. What do you do?

Your challenge rings out across the crowd. It seems to throw them into a bit of confusion. A large orc strides forward to meet you.
“What do we get when we kill you?”

You pull your sword and slam it into the ground. Tremors could be felt across the battlefield. The orc confers with his fellows and they run back into the crowd. The orc pulls his weapon.

“Your challenge is accepted,” and lunges at you. He moves with the easy grace of a confident killer, the experience of a hundred battles and duels. He was more tiger than bull, killing intent in every movement.

You clap your hands together with his head between them and squash it like a grape.

This caused a cry of dismay among the horde. They had expected you to kill the orc, but not without a fight. Orcs came at you one at a time or in pairs. After a while you figured they were delaying, but then you think you figured out why.

Out of the fortress strode orcs twice the size you have seen before, and at the head of them an orc half again as big. The orcs opened a path for them and they cheered as the huge orcs marched to you. You drew your sword from the ground.

They began, two spinning axes thrown, arriving in the blink of an eye. You dodge one and catch the other, sending it spinning back, tearing through the arm of one and slamming into the chest of a second. The leading orc charged, ducked underneath your first swing and his sword dug into your side. You roar and your counterattack cuts him in half. It is a viscious, bloody struggle as they would land blows, but your regeneration and your strength kept you going. Your attacks in turn often killed in one hit, unless you only cut off a limb in which case they kept fighting. Pierce, cut, smash. You battle through their best, until at the end when you tear a dagger out your shoulder, throw it through the last one and, since the dagger just tore straight through, pummel his face and body until it is just a mashy mess.

Finally, what must surely be their king stands before you. You are bloody and torn, but your determination and anger is not quenched. The orcs have for thousands of years preyed upon and terrified men. That would end. You raise your sword, eyes hard.

The largest orc yet considers you for a moment.
“Why do you fight, human? What drives you so?”

What do you say?
A. Vengeance.
B. Hope.
C. Because I am strong.
D. Something else?

The orc considered your words for a moment. He then tossed his sword at your feet.
“ I, Krush Steelbreaker, High Warlord of Black Scar, surrender to you. You may kill us if you wish, but I ask that you allow us the honor to follow you into battle.”

A

Make sure to lay down the new rules (no eating/torturing/killing/harming/robbing any humans or anyone who joins our forces etc)

You accept his surrender and offer, depending on condition that they cease attacking and the eating of humans, and anyone who is under his protection. He agrees, but asks that you consider they could still eat in combat, for their nature is hard to shake. He also asks that you promise to defend them against attacks from humans and his own forces.
Do you agree with those conditions? Y/N

And so the Warlord turns to his people and proclaims something in their guttural tongue, and there is a moment of stunned silence before they roar in approval. They begin to chant “Rogg, Rogg, Rogg!”

So the Black Scar became yours, and you became High Warlord of the orcs. You maybe dressed in rags and scraps of metal, but few could claim as much glory.

Warlord Krush gave you a tour of the place, from the breeding pits at the bottom to the armory (where he said he would have the armourers whip you up something nice) to the sorcerers tower at the top. Krush explains that the Sorcerer was the same who devastated the city so many years ago. He disappeared when the demons came. The sorcerer mostly focused on improving the orc race, making them smarter, stronger, and faster. Warlord Krush was the pinnacle of the program, guarded by the Slayers you had mostly killed off.

He offers around 100,000 orcs that you have command of. He suggests leaving 20,000 to guard the Scar, but that is up to you.

What do you do?
A. Leave the warlord and your “council” to plan your conquests/defense, while you take a few Slayers to guide to Lorchus in a few days vs. a few weeks at a normal marching pace.
B.Continue on to Lorchus with your party, have Krush prepare. Will take a few weeks of marching.
C. Something else?

Also, we should find their Sorcerer. They’ll need to be punished in some manner for their destruction of the city, but more importantly, we need them so we can make the orcs less inhospitable to other sentient life.
Particularly, so that they no longer feel the compulsion to feed in battle.

Sure. +1.

Also, we should find their Sorcerer. They’ll need to be punished in some manner for their destruction of the city, but more importantly, we need them so we can make the orcs less inhospitable to other sentient life.
Particularly, so that they no longer feel the compulsion to feed in battle.

You and your army march on as Krush remains behind to prepare his forces. He sends a thousand orc warriors with you. They are impressive soldiers, able to march for longer with seemingly unending stamina.

Halfway through the journey your progress is halted by a small party in front of you, dressed in chain mail and leather. You walk out to meet them.

The oldest, his face deeply lined raised his hand, “You may come no farther. This is the land of the Grothii, you may not pass without paying tribute to our king.”
You look to your companions. They shake their heads, you do not have much wealth to give.

What do you do?
A. Explain that you are just passing thru, and you do not have tribute for them at the moment.
B. Intimidate them to let you pass without quarrel.
C. Offer to do a quest for them.
D. Something else?

You approach the mounted Grothii. On their horses they were able to look you straight in the eyes. To their credit they showed little fear. You slowly draw your sword.
“I claimed this sword from a Demon Prince of Hell. I have bested the champions of the Black Scar. I have no wealth to offer. I am Rogg the Paladin, I go where I want. If you seek to claim tribute from me you may try. You would regret it though.”

The riders shift nervously, and the old man speaks.
“We will grant you neither blessing or cursing then. We do not count those who fight the Abyss as foes.”

Without another word they ride away.

You continue on to Lorchus, passing through a wild wood, with trees that shake and shiver even in the absence of wind. Your men grow nervous, and even the orcs show a little concern. A bestial howl echos through the woods every now and then, freezing the water in men’s veins.

A day and a half through the forest, a white stag appears before you and stares. As your party begins to move on, the stag leads, darting away and coming back when no one follows it.

What do you do?
A. Follow it.
B.Don’t follow it
C. Throw a spear at it.

First off, who the hell are the Grothii?
Just a “barbarian” Kingdom in the North

Posting to Watch. Also, what happened to Alina? She's probably pretty shell shocked over everything, but the last two survivors of a village looking after each other has a good story to it.
Hmm I didn’t address that did I? She hid from the fleeing demons and joined your party, and became one of your champions.

Hmm a tie, let’s meet in the middle for this one...

You raise a hand and halt your army. The white stag holds and stares at you calmly. You slowly approach, raising your hands. At a certain distance, it begins to leap off into the woods. You curse and leap thru the air to land on its back.  It can only raise a terrified whinny as you crash into its back and drive it into the ground with a loud crack filling the air. It moans pitifully before dying underneath you.

The forest stills for a few dreadful moments. Then you hear a roar echo through the air and trees and ground.
“You have Transgressed here, mortal! Your blood shall nourish me!”
Beasts began to crawl out of the ground, huge and snarling with wicked claws and horns. They charge into your lines, tearing men apart. The trees theme selves began to move, crushing all in their path.

What do you do?

You whirl into motion, your sword decapitating a beast in one motion as you slam into the side of another. It bursts in a shower of gore as you roar and hack a frenzied tree in half with your blade. You bring death and destruction with every swing, every movement.

All around you men and orcs fight and die side by side, snarling in defiance as they kill and be killed in turn. None of them break or run, for they know that they will either live or die together. Blood from man and beast flows thick and heavy into the ground, drinking deep until it seeps with every step.

You grab an oak, it’s branches twisting madly, and uproot it from the ground. Dirt sprays through the air as it crushes several of the beasts. You hurl it like a spear, and it explodes as it travels through the air, sending splinters of wood hurtling through your foes.

A majestic beast arises on a hill a hundred meters away. It roars at you, a bestial challenge seeking to test its strength. It stands as tall as 3 of you, rippling with muscle and power, a crown of horns upon its head. Blazing eyes glare at you as it issues it’s challenge, a deep call that shakes your very bones.

What do you do?

You snarl at the beast and charge, bashing aside beasts attempting to hinder you, and hewing down trees that get in your path. You finally get close, and it charges back, its massive arms hurling it forward. You let a fearsome grin cross your lips as you collide.

And fall.

Countless millions of leaves surround you as you continue to free fall through the air. Your sword hums with power you haven’t seen before.

A chuckle surrounds you.
“There’s no more use fighting, Rogg. You are in my domain, the Domain of Oreus, the god of the wood, and under my power now. The land of life, of red claw and savagery. With your power Rogg, together we can shape the world into a paradise...

An endless forest stretches around you, even reaching into the sky. Impossibly far in the distance, you see a massive tree, blazing with light and power and all the colors of the rainbow.

What do you do?
A. Join your power with Oreus, gain his nature power.
B. This overgrown tree killed some of your men. You will tear this world apart to avenge them, and return for the others.
C. Something else?

You are still gaining strength and power and stuff, you just really get more choices when you reach a new tier.

His words ring in your ears, tempting you. You are torn in two. You could save the lives of your men if you submitted, but at what cost? What would this god demand of you?

“Will you spare my men?” You shout your question as you land on a wooden platform. A swirl of leaves still surround you.

“Yes, they will be spared,” the voice of Oreus surrounds you.

Willpower check: 1

You slowly nod
“I will join you.”

Dark laughter surrounds you as vines plunge into your veins and body, digging deep. You cry out in pain as thorns dig into your scalp. You feel the intense pressure of the gods will bearing down on you. You begin to feel your mind shatter under the onslaught.
“Don’t worry Rogg, soon the whole world will tremble before us. All will become one, unity within me. You may not be able to see it happen, but I will remember your sacrifice.”

The lure of oblivion exerted a heavy pull, tempting you towards oblivion. As you saw the vines twist and piece and invade, your heart began to beat harder. Your muscles twitched. A thought entered your head.

I am not finished yet.

Your mother, your village, the destruction of humanity. You could not abandon them. They needed you.

The vines dig deeper, perhaps sensing your renewed resistance. They tunneled and tore and filled you. They sought to choke the very life out of you. The light dimmed in your eyes.

But you weren’t finished yet.

You roared in defiance, even as the world shook and compressed around you. The vines constructed around your throat. You stretched out and grasped as many vines as you could, then pulled. They created bloody wounds in your body as you tore them out, ripping out other. You flexed the muscles in your neck, and they vines fragmented from the sheer pull. You ripped out the other vines just in time to receive a brutal punch from a giant stone fist.

A stone golem stood before you, wrapped around a tree, it’s leering face lit by a baleful fire. It wound up another punch, which you caught with your hand before you crushed it to powder. Your own punch broke the tree and golem in half.

A golden man, twice as large as you and shining with the presence of the unmistakably divine, gripped your sword and stared you down. The sword glowed with an inner fire, calling to you. You shake your head at the golden figure.

“That’s not yours,” and extend your hand out.

The sword seems to sing and spins out the man’s grip and returns to you. It brightens in your hand, and you feel eagerness pulse from the blade.
You stride to the man, slicing any vines from your path as the world seems to roar at you. He kneels on the ground, holding his stomach, a deep wound bleeding ichor. He gazes at you expressionlessly,
“It would have been so much easier for you to submit.”

You grab the top of his head,
“Fuck you.”

You slam your knee through the mans head, crushing it into a golden mess as the world itself tries to kill you. The great tree trembled in the distance.

And so you fought and killed. The first week Oreus was triumphant whenever he spoke to you, for the god knew that eventually you would have to tire out in this pocket realm of his. But you were renewed after every beast and every plant creature you killed. After that first week of battle he bargained with you, offering you freedom and release. You journeyed ever deeper, each step a war, and your every movement tuned to perfecting the dealing of death.

After 2 months of nonstop slaughter Oreus was resigned to his fate. He had funneled all his power into defeating you, and you had ripped and tore your way through all of them, taking his strength for your own. But you had been yourself changed by this experience. You are now:

A.The Slayer: Red of eye and red of hand. Gods and men both fear you. Your sword and hand bring death to both. Take Oreus’s power and channel it purely into becoming the perfect sword of man. Stride into and out of realms at will. Can inspire your warriors into unstoppable berserkers.

B. The God of War: Seize Oreus’s divinity, and become the God of War(current God of War may become displeased). Gain a flying chariot, knowledge of battles and wars being waged, and ability to inspire troops into Legionaries.

C. The King of Man Combining Oreus’s authority and your leadership. Gain Authority over all mankind. Your words will carry the force of law, bending even the most resistant of man’s hearts into service. You can inspire your armies into champions and paladins. However, your bonus does not include the choices you may make as King.

D. Maybe possibly something else. Needs to be as cool and comparable to these choices. Very unlikely to get approval, but the possibility is there.

C: The King of Man

You walked towards Oreus, your stride stirring dust in your wake. You had long lost track of time, consumed in a constant battle for your life. This realm, once so full of life, was now dead and cold. The ground was a dusty grey, the sky a burnt orange.

The giant tree was the only thing left, a lone pillar in an empty desert. It leaves had all gone, leaving only twisted branches reaching to the sky.

“So you have emerged triumphant, Rogg,” Oreus whispered. You grab the trunk of the tree with your scarred hands.

“Look upon your works and despair, oh King of Man. This is your kingdom, the desolation of everything but yourself. This is your curse.”

You tear Oreus in half, and take the stump and crown of the tree and smash them together until only splinters remain. The domain shatters and collapses around you, and you stand, surrounded by your champions and lot by the sun.

There were no trees around you, just piles of logs and mounds of flesh. Your champions cheered and shouted, eyes full of wonder and hope! You returned scarred and near naked, yet no richly dressed king looked as regal.

You were gone for three days after you and the monster disappeared. The fighting stopped very soon afterwards. They had lost near a thousand men and orcs in the fighting. While they waited, they cut down the forest in this area.

You had a small feast that night. The beasts made for good eating, and you toasted and cheered those forgotten. Eventually you were left alone with your thoughts as your army celebrated behind you. You never were really good with people. Alina gave you a small smile when she caught your eye passing by.  She wore chainmail now, and carried a sword at her hip. You had both come a long way since the village.

And the next morning you set forward to Lorchus. The rest of the journey was rather uneventful, and you soon came to a town on the shores of a lake, and a spindle of a tower overlooking them both.

What do you do?
A. Head to the town first, ask about the tower.
B. Just head to the tower.

Bring a couple advisors with us to the town, and have them ask about the tower.

You have your advisors question the townspeople about the tower. They say it was just suddenly appeared around 2 or 3 decades ago. Occasionally a wizard comes out of it. They leave the tower alone and it generally leaves them alone. They are also very frightened of the giant mostly naked man coming at the head of an army, it turns out.

Do you:
A. Ask more questions.
B. Head to the tower.

You approach the tower’s gates. You were unable to find clothes for you large and powerfully built frame. It is simple wood, with a large crystal knocker on it. It glides open when you approach. A soft chime fills the air.

“Oh gods, as if my day wasn’t. . . Ahh, greetings visitor! Welcome to my tower! I am Silanius the-“
He cuts off as he glides down the stair and goggles at you.
“-Did you eat a god or something? Even with the accelerated time table, we may still have a chance!“ He huffs and turns around to go back upstairs.
“Well come on, we got to figure this out. “

You go up the stairs behind the wizard, climbing high before you enter a room with hundreds of books and several comfortable chairs.

“Honestly, we don’t have time for the mystical bullshit, sorry,” The wizard leaned over the desk from his chair and rubbed his eyes. His beard stretched down to the table. He jabbed a finger at a parchment.

“The Ascendency are coming. Hundreds of warships flying across dimensions, coming here. This is what spurred the Abyss to strike, to pillage as much of they could of this world before they arrived.”

“On top of that, the Chosen One is running around going from strength to strength. She should be next on your list-“

“You are looking confused, I should explain. Our organization works across many worlds like this one, building networks and stopping disasters. The Council has plans involving creating a Chosen One to steer history into a desired path, while we needed someone to counter her.”

“The master was passing by when your mother prayed for you to be strong. He was looking for a candidate and granted her wish, giving you the ability to draw strength from the world around you. The Abyss attack was indeed unexpected and threw everything into a bit of chaos, but you have adapted admirably! King of Mankind, huh? A powerful choice. Just beware the Chosen One, if she gets wind that you are draining the life of humanity on this planet, she will try to take you out before you do too much damage.”

A lot of this flew over your head.

What do you do?
A. Ask what you should do next.
B. Express confusion over what is going on.
C. Just leave, he seems like a waste of time.
D. Something else?

You grab him by the collar of his robes and lift him into the air.
Smaller. Words.” You growl.

He stammers a bit before replying.
“Okay, okay, you were made to fight a chosen one, an elvish woman named Amara. But demons invaded first so that plan is tits up. Boss still wants her gone, but after that you are free to do whatever. Keep working for us, stay here or go wherever.”

You slowly nod. You don’t really understand what is going on, but the concepts are over your head anyways. You furrow your brow.
“What do you mean, draining the life of humanity? I defend it, I take strength from those I kill.”

The wizard shakes his head and gestures to the floor. You put him down, if not gently.

“Rogg, remember how your mother grew weaker as you grew older? How you could grow nothing in your yard around your home? Your curse is you draw strength from the world around you. Your powers forge a bond between you and your subjects. You can lend strength to them, but that is only temporary. It is a slow process though.”

You can hear the pounding of your heart.
“How can I stop it?”
The wizard pauses. “The easiest would be to eventually leave. You have awhile before your effects grow too deleterious. Just be cautious of staying in one place for years on end. You could also change your powers when you reach a milestone. You would still drain strength, just in a local area instead of your realm.”

What do you do?
A. Ask where to go next.
B. Ask more questions.
C. Smash.

The wizard shrugs, “Destablize the social order, maybe forge something new that will turn rotten down this worlds timeline. Or their death causes something good to happen in the future. I don’t know for sure, I just receive the orders.”

“Now for the Ascendency, they shouldn’t be here for some months yet. You will know when they arrive, but the Abyss should be dealt with first or they may just scour this world to stop any corruption. ”

So if we had chosen to become the god of war, would we have drained the strength/life of all soldiers and rulers who engage in warfare in this entire realm/universe? That seems like it could be a way for us to stop all war by making them get less and less capable of fighting.

“Where do we go to finish off the Abyss?”

The wizard laughs, “There is no finishing off the Abyss. It is truly infinite. But if you kill the King of this world’s hell, you should stop their invasion. You already bought the world valuable time by killing one of their princes.”

“Now, we can wait for them to attack again. My sources indicate they are massing for a full out invasion in one spot. They don’t know exactly who you are or where you are yet, but they will. My money is that they will try their best to take you out.”

“Now you could go on the offensive, but we would require a significant magical artifact to sacrifice to open a gate. Now your sword is rather unique, consisting of demon, angelic, and human energies, and so would work as a sacrifice. Or you could take the Dwarves’ Heart of the Mountain, or some other major artifact. Sacrificing the Chosen One might work! Or-“
Silanius rummages through a chest full of junk and pulls out a ring.
“Kill a high ranking demon with this ring, it will allow you to maintain an open gate.”

“Now I suggest going to Findlass, an ancient elven fortress, and finding and dealing with the Chosen One; or focus on uniting the human realms. Of course your path is up to you. Do you have more questions, Rogg?”

What do you say?

Silanius nods approvingly, “Good, if you have need of me slam your hand into the ground 3 times and call out my name on the 3rd beat. Good luck, Rogg.”

You depart the tower and to your champions. Silanius told you that you would gain more power the more you conquered, diluting the effects of your drain. However you would be draining from a larger area.

You make your way down South, your army trailing behind you. Both human and orc alike march with a steely gaze, caught up in your purpose.

You pass through forest and meadows till you come to a river, and suddenly a swell of water forms in the river, and shapes into a giant man wielding a trident. Your champions shout at the sight of the Water god, Oceanius.

What do you do?

You shrug. “He attacked me, I had to respond. If you attack, I will kill you as well. If you would let us pass, there will be no issue.”

Oceanius rears back in shock, and then roars out, “I will lay a curse upon your people, no rain will fall on your crops and-“

You draw your sword. “If you bring any harm to my people or land, I will tear you apart, no matter where in the sea that you hide,” you call out fiercely. Your sword glows brighter.

The sea god glares back at you, but he nods and sinks back into the water. Within moments there is little trace of his presence.

Soon your path takes you across the major trading city of Selidfale. Your scouts report that they are wary of your approach, considering your party of warriors and orcs. One of the scouts reports being waylaid by bandits, but she was easily able to fend them off. Apparently there is a large number of bandits being lead by a self proclaimed Bandit Lord preying on the villages and trade along the city.

What do you do?

Let's go find this bandit lord and force him to become our vassal!

Your scouts are directed to find the bandit’s main camp, and while the bandits do have some skill in hiding it’s location, your men soon find a few bandits and bring them before you. You ask them innocently if they would direct you to the Bandit Lord while you benchpress a hundred year old oak for exercise.

They quickly agree.

You go alone with the bandits to the camp. You believe that you may be able to gain an audience by yourself versus starting a conflict with your army.  It is hidden in the forest, nestled between a couple of hills. It is loud and rowdy, with the door guards barely acknowledging your presence. You are surrounded by squalor as red faced men chase after crying women, as children in pens watch teary eyed. A red hot anger begins to pump through your veins as you walk through this, culminating to where the Bandit Lord holds his court. He is a large imposing man, though not as much as yourself. His eyes seem to glow red, though that perhaps is a trick of the fires. The bandits around you then seem to notice you, and stillness begins to spread until it reaches the lord. He squints at you.

What do you do?
A. Offer him and his men a chance to redeem themselves in your service.
B. Their crimes are too much for you to forgive. The women and children are under your protection and you will not abide men like this.
C. Something else?

You draw your sword. It keens dreadfully thru the air. The bandits with enough wits about them recognize the sound of their doom.
“As your King, as a man, I pronounce judgement over your crimes.”
The Bandit Lord climbs to his feet. His eyes remain a baleful red.

“You are no King of mine,” he growls, his voice the sound of stone grinding against stone.

You shrug, “You will die just the same.”

You leap at each other in the same instant. Your sword sings out, cutting through the air, but the bandit twists through the air impossibly quick. You both land and turn. His axe whistles through the air. You grab it midswing, bringing it to a sudden halt. He grunts in surprise, but quickly abandons the axe and unleashes a flurry of blows to your body. You take them all before you plunge your sword deep in his chest. He stumbles to his knees as you take the sword out and survey the stunned onlookers.

“Your time of captivity is over. It is time to Rise!”
With that you spring into action, your blade a blur as it cuts down bandit after bandit. The captive women and children find new strength in themselves, and they cut down the worst offenders and prevent any escape from justice.

In a few minutes it’s all over, and you direct them to take what stolen loot they can from the encampment. Inside the main tent, however,  an orb rests on a pedestal, glowing a dark red.

What do you do?
A. Smash it.
B. Take it.
C. Leave it.
D.There is a correct answer, but you’ll have to write it in!

This is great haha.

You approach the pedestal. The orb seems to glow brighter as you come closer. You almost feel a malevolent presence turn its attention to you. You reach out and grab the orb.

Almost immediately you feel power rush into you. It tries to make you drop the orb, but you stubbornly cling on, power continuously pouring into you. The power burns inside, like fire shoved into your veins. The flood of power begins to slow as the light inside the orb flickers, then gutters out. The power fades to a trickle, then nothing.

You breathe out. You are still standing, and you can feel your body repair itself from the damage from the orb, which crumbles in your grip. You feel more powerful. Obviously you were successful in purging the orb.

You walk outside the tent with a smile, which falters when you see the crowd of women and children. All of them have a soft crimson glow emanating from their chests.

You look down. A blazing red sun burns from your heart.

What do you do?
A. You are the master of your fate, try further gain control over the power.
E. Lead them in conquering the city, then harvest their life force!
C.Uhh maybe you should call up that wizard.
D. Something else?

Yeah, wizard. And try to keep whatever power is inside of us too intimidated to try anything mind-control-y.

In a bit of a panic you slam your hand into the ground 3 times. Nothing happens. You realize that you forgot to say his name at the end. You pound the ground 3 time more, and try to pronounce the wizards name, but you are pretty sure you mispronounce it. You try really hard, and 3 times your hand goes into the dirt, and you call out Silanius’s name.

“Oh my... how... how do you have enough Abyssal corruption to turn a whole city into blood crazed fiends?”
The wizard, stepping out behind a crate, holds up his hand.
“Wait, never mind. Whew, you really walked into this one-“

You grab the wizards by the front of his robes.
“Fix this. Now.” You growl.

“Okay, okay easy there fella. I can put some enchantments on you that will contain the corruption, but you will need to find a way to purify yourself. Doing some measure of extreme self sacrifice will do it, or even sacrificing a proper demon in a proper temple could do the trick.”

You gesture at the crowd. “What about them?”
Silanius gives them an apprasing glance then shakes his head. “Too risky. They will spread corruption wherever they go, and the enchantments will not be able to help them much. We’ll have to put them down.”
At your look of dismay, he adds, “I can handle it, it just be like going to sleep. They won’t feel a thing.”

What do you do?
A. Witness their last moments as the wizard does his work. You will remember them.
Evil: Consume them all to increase your strength. (Evil is really not subtle).
C. You refuse to accept this. You will take them with you until you find something.
D. Something else?

C. We are a leader of humanity, not one who puts down old dogs. They will not bear the consequences of this.

The wizard does a quick count, and slips a wand out from his sleeve.
“Well, we will need 2 rather powerful demons, one for you and another should be sufficient for them. Here-“ he grabs some manacles with a bit of distaste, and with some muttering and taps of the wand hands them to you.
“These should hold a demon if you beat it up a bit, and it’s scared enough. Now, there is a sorceror’s tower 3 days ride to the East, hidden in the mountains. Now, it is heavily fortified and warded against one such as myself, but I could teleport you outside it’s bounds. Now I wouldn’t be able to teleport demons out of there, but if you could take them to the temple of Alovial, roughly halfway between here and there. We will meet there with your men and the afflicted. Or you could travel there conventionally with your army.”

He pauses a bit, hesitating.
“You could also choose to let the corruption grow. You have enough strength to bear it, and you may be able to open a gate once it grows enough, and launch your own offensive into the Abyss. However, once it reaches that point ... it may not able to be removed. I wanted to give you the choice now, before the corruption potential interferes with your decision making.”
He turns and makes 3 quick motions and the crowd of women and children begin to yawn, and look for a place to lie down for a bit. Within half a minute they were all asleep. He turns an expectant gaze to you.

What do you do?
A. Teleport to the tower.
B. Travel there with your army.
Evil. Accelerate the corruption process. It will get you quicker to your vengeance.
D. Allow the corruption to continue slowly, giving you the chance to master it.
E. Something else?

Silanius nods and grabs hold of your hand. You feel something like a hook tugging you backwards, and after a fleeting moment of disorientation, you find yourself looking at a fortress of doom.

The wizard whistles next to you. “Wow, he really made some changes around here. You won’t have any problems finding demons here. You sure you can handle this?”

Dominating the landscape in front of you is a black iron tower stretching into the sky, magma pouring down its sides. Additional towers are being constructed, half finished frames stretching out into the sky. A wall wraps around the base of the tower, and even from here you can see legions of demons patrolling the walls and filling the grounds.

Your lips twist into a savage grin. Here lies your true foes, enemies of humanity and that is good.
“I think I’ll be fine.”

What do you do?
A. Charge the gates and knock them down.
Evil: Swear loyalty to hell, make reforms from the inside!
C.Go down and ask to see the sorceror. Chop heads until you do.
D. Ask if Silanius can launch you into the tower.

Doom.

The drums sounded.

Doom.

The horns cried.

Doom.

Your footsteps pounded.

Doom.

The gate crashing.

Arrows whistle around you blow through their gate.  Near a full regiment charged at you, demonic features twisted in anger and rage. You breathe, your sword sings out and they die. It is not easy, a sword as light as air taking the life out of them. They die hard, hacking deep into torsos and twisting heads and breaking limbs and smashed chests.

One champion drives a spear into your side. You roar, snap the spear in half and tear it out of your side and slam the broken end through the demons eye.

Your sword does not lie mute. It sings in a sort of vicious pleasure that vibrates up your arm as you cut and kill. It is an extension of your will, a part of you now.

A snarling demon lunges at you. His black blade clashes with yours as you crush down a footman with a swing of your arm. Your blade win free and carves deep into his chest.

You fight your way into the tower, bashing a large beast with a too large mouth through its most likely cursed door. Tentacles stream out from the shattered door and tear the struggling demon to shreds. You pass thru, slicing a tentacle that was too slow in retreating.

Red and bloody battle is fought on your journey up the tower. Quarter is neither given or offered. Floor by floor you climb, leaving only broken bodies in your wake. Your rage is not quenched as you arrive at the top of the tower.

The walls are translucent, revealing a commanding landscape of mountains and valleys, with the world stretching out before you. The Sorcerer, eyes blazing red, sat on an iron throne, attended by a demon on his right and left, one floating with long draping black robes and the other a tall and armored giant, with a cruel axe. Could be good sacrifice to restore your soul.

The Sorcerer rises to his feet.
“Ahh, so much potential you have! I could help you become so much stronger! We could unleash your abilities, we could conquer the Abyss itself! Join with me, Rogg.”

What do you do?

You began to laugh at the Sorcerer’s attempt to sway you. The Sorcerer’s anger visibly builds as you laugh at his offer until he slashed the air in front of him with a dark guttural word. Nearly black fire rushes toward you, you cut it in half with your sword. The two halves of fire part before you as you leap forward; the Sorcerer only has time to throw up a shield before you kick him. The force of your kick still flings him against the wall, where upon his shield shatters and he falls down dazed.

You have no time to capitalize, as the axe demon swings in a perfect arc to take your head, and dark magical balls form around the floating demon. You react quickly, grabbing the axe, and spun, flinging the heavily armored demon into the mage. The magic detonated, sending both demon lords sprawling. The armored demon surged to his feet, howling defiance, until you give him two vicious haymakers with your fists, crushing his helmet and sending it staggering into the ground. The other demon lord moans within his robes, body broken from the collision and explosion from the armored giant.

A crackling is all the warning you hear as a bolt of green light flies narrowly above you after you duck. You whirl around to see 10, 20, 30 copies of the  sorcerer around you. All preparing some kind of spell or ritual.

A voice emanates from all of them, full of sinister maliace.

“You should rethink your choice, Rogg, before it’s too late!”

What do you do?

(I have to say that I should have predicted this answer, but I didn’t and I love it! Enjoy your spin to win!)

A dozen chains lash out at your defiance. These were ritual forged steel, each link cooled in the living ichor of a summoned demon. These chains could still angels and demons easily, withstand a dragons fire, and even bind a minor deity for a time.

But you were the King of Man, and you bowed to no one.

The Sorcerer chuckled as the chains wrapped around your body. As you stood there, unbent beneath the chains, his triumph faded. You stared ahead unblinking, straining with all your might. The chains groaned and the sorcerer our clones prepared their spells.

One chained snapped, then another. With a roar of pure determination you broke the rest, the whirling chains striking down a few of the clones. You grab the battered giant demon, and begun to whirl him around the room, his armored body smashing aside and dissipating the clones.  Spells cast in hast were either deflected or absorbed by the demon lords body, until finally you sent the real Sorcerer flying into a wall. They scatter as they desperately try to avoid their spinning doom, but their is no escape or defense from your rotating onslaught.

You stride over while he is still in a daze and seize him. First you break his hands, and then you break his jaw.  He whimpers as you place manacles around his shattered wrists.

Shortly thereafter you drag the demon lords and the sorcerer out of the tower, bound in the chains they sought to enslave you with. You turn around and look upon the tower, still standing tall.

What do you do?
A. Tear it down. It is a stain upon this world you will not abide.
B. Leave it. One day you may reclaim and redeem it.
(Also you may choose to wear demonic plate that you have liberated of owners. It is probably not corrupted)

You go inside the tower once again, and ravage it. Your sword cuts through stone and steel as the edifice groans above you. Inside you find a suit of plate that would perhaps fit you, made for a demonic champion. You grab it, you’ll have the wizard look at it. You finish cutting through strictly supports, and charge though a final beam and through a wall. As you jog away the tower, a symbol of pride and domination, crumbles behind you.

You make your way to the temple of Alovial, dragging the demons and sorcerer behind you with the ritual forged chains. They grumble and groan, but between their chains and fear of your strength they keep obedient.

You come in view of the temple complex, a sprawling thing stretching across a dozen ornate buildings. A more welcome sight to you, however, is your army camping on the outskirts of the complex.

You meet your army halfway to the the temple, as your champions and warriors cheer your arrival. There are crowds of commoners and traders there too, and they celebrate the sight of you, for they have been told of your deeds and valor, and the sight of you dragging the enemies of mankind behind you.

Suddenly the noise stops as you make your way through the crowd. You look in puzzlement until a way parts and before you stands the most beautiful woman you have ever seen. Hair as as dark as raven feathers falls over pointed ears like a waterfall down her back. Her eyes are green like emeralds, and her smile in your direction is like the dawn breaking.

Her smile soon falters and she rushes forward.

You move to stop her but she is faster than you and lays a hand upon your chest. Looking down, you see the red burning sun of your corruption retract and flee from her touch, shrinking beneath her attention.  You freeze at the sight.

She removes her head and bows, “My apologies, King Rogg, I acted on instinct,”
She straightens, “I am Princess Celyria, of the Elvish Kingdoms. We will not hide behind our walls any more while demons threaten our world.” She extends her hand to you.
“I have heard of your deeds, and would be honored to fight by your side.”

Your wizard, standing in the crowd, shakes his head and mouths,
”Chosen One”

What do you do?
A. Accept her offer of aid. In a war who knows what will happen. And if she turns on you will be ready.
B.  Well the wizard said you should kill her. Might as well get over with it.
!Evil! Tear out and eat her heart.
D. Politely decline her offer.

You awkwardly bow back. “I, uh, accept your offer of alliance. Now,” You lift the chains that drug the demon lords and sorceror behind you, “I have to go sacrifice these to purify my soul.”

At the furrow of her brow you imagine that she is confused and perhaps concerned by your statement, but you are already walking past her towards the temple.

“Wizard! Prepare the Ritual!” The wizard rolls his eyes but he follows.

First he ushers in the affected people first, alongside the guard he placed on them. He carefully marks the borders of the temple, and sprinkled holy water upon the alter. He has the demon brought to the alter, and in a flash of fire the mage demon is consumed and an wave of purifying power sweeps over the people gathered in the temple. The wizard explains the process and what was done to the princess, who glances at you admiringly. You stolidly await your turn.

You bring your looted plate into the temple. The Princess offered her finest mage smiths to rework the plate into something worthy of you, but you wanted to make sure it was purified first. You were done dealing with this corruption constantly intruding on your thoughts.

You then lug in the armored giant demon in on your shoulders and tie him to the alter. It arcs and screams as the holy water burns it, and Silanius speaks the words that ring with holy purpose and the demon evaporates in a ball of fire.

A wave of pressure rocks you and invades you. You feel a question asked deep within your soul, and answered without conscious thought. Your veins burn and your heart stops momentarily as the alien presence inside of you tries to destroy you. All you see is white, and you hear a scream not your own echo inside your head.

You breathe out, your vision returning to normal as you see the temple, Silanius staring at you behind a pile of ash, and no red sun burning from your chest. You are free!

You and the wizard see the Sorcerer standing in the hallway outside the temple proper. He glares at you then begins to chuckle. Silanius draws his wand and trains it on the Sorcerer. He just continues to laugh until a bolt of blue fire burns through his skull.

The wizard sighs and slips his wand into his belt as you look askance at him. “Well, my friend, you know how you wanted the ability to open a portal to hell? Well, Hell is coming to us in three days.”

What do you do? You have 2 thousand of your warriors, around 90,000 orcs a week away that you have sent riders to summon. Princess
Celyria has 750 elvish warriors, scholars, and sages. She wonders if it would be best to retreat. The Wizard informs you that the Temple will be the invasion site of this world, the bounds dividing the abyss inadvertently weakened by the purification rituals. In any case, this is where the flood gates of hell will open.

You may assign a task to the Princess and Wizard, and you can fortify defenses, or come up with some sort of plan. Or you could probably just get away with winging it and charging them back, but you probably won’t be able stop everything from slipping past you. Or you could retreat!

Of course we must have defenses. We're no good at strategy, though. Have some of our best strategists - and the Chosen One - set up a defense plan.
With the understanding that we, along with the 10 greatest warriors here (and the Chosen One should she so choose, though she may be better holding the line) will charge into the portal and conduct a counter-invasion, with a signal prepared for if we're able to clear the tide enough for the rest to follow us without worrying about demons running free in our world.

Let's pull a Caesar, and build a wall around the temple. We hold it long enough for the Orcs to reach us, and then we split the army to lead the counter invasion.

Lightly modified plan:

If massive hordes are heading our way, we need to hold them at the entry point---a choke point is our only hope if we're going to be massively outnumbered. Hold them at the entry point so that their corruption and whatnot can't leak out over the world. Send messengers to everyone nearby and ask for soldiers, using the authority of ourselves, the Elves, the wizard, the priests, everybody. Construct a line of circumvallation around the temple, prepare a rotation of soldiers to fight the demons *at the gates* so that their superior numbers won't do them any good. We'll rotate our limited supply of soldiers into and out of the fighting and attempt to hold the demons until our Orcish reinforcements arrive, at which point the Orcs will press into the portals...to support ourselves and a few champions, who are going to preemptively invade the invaders' homes, to distract them from invading our home.

You send out messengers to all the nearby lords and kings, to gather their men. The orcs cheer when you tell them that the invasion is coming, and Silanius returns from a quick teleportation trip, bringing the Orc warlord Krush, who eagerly promises that his army will make best possible speed to the fight.

Silanius predicts that the gates will open throughout the temple complex, and so you plan a circle of fortifications surrounding the complex, meant to contain what is within. With your incredible strength, and the magic of the wizard and elves, the walls rise and enchantments woven into the stone, that hell itself may not breech them as long as the walls were held.

And so you labor as warriors, knights and soldiers trickle in. All are impressed by your presence, and heartened by your labors beside them. Some are afraid or enraged by the orcs, but to see their ferocity turned to the enemy of all that lives heartens them enough to tolerate their presence.

The council works out a rotation of warriors and elves to fight as long as needed until the orc army arrives. The orcs do not need rest, so they are able to fight without rotation, stopping only to eat (for demonic flesh is not good). You as well prepare yourself for a long battle, as you have yourself lost the need for rest (though you do find it pleasant still).

Finally, the day of the invasion arrives. There is a dark pressure in the air. You stand atop the battlements as storm clouds unnaturally form. Your armor was reshaped by the finest elf smiths, to be strong yet not restrict your movements. They also weave spells that will allow you to communicate with your allies, and allow them to track your location.

Princess Celyria joins you, armored in plate and bearing a longsword on her hip and a bow in her hand. All the elves were armored thus, excepting some dedicated casters spread through the walls. The wizard watched in a tower he summoned set back overlooking the battle, he would be providing support where needed.

The Princess nods at you, and you jerk your head at her. She smiles briefly before turning her attention to the gathering storm.

You talk a bit. You learn she is the youngest and last princess of the elves. She had proven to be extraordinary skilled even among elves, and has pushed hard for the kingdoms to end their isolation and try to use their powers for good. The demons attacked, and she proved vital to pushing them back. She took a small force with her to try to unite the world against this threat. She heard of you, and fate would have it that she would encounter you here.

You mention your mother and losing her, and the stories of your first battle when the horns resound. You feel the ground tremble as a dozen and one gate/ emerge from the ground in the temple complex, each towering over the temple buildings and reaching nearly to the height of the walls, formed of dark stones inscribed with demonic runes. Legions of demons begin to march out, only to scream in pain and collapse as they walk into extremely purified holy water that was flooded into the enclosed temple complex. Thousands of demons stumble and collapse into the water before flames of darkness emerge from the gates and burn away the water into a heavy steam.

Thousands more of the demons pour from the gates, and as they leave the temple grounds arrows begin to fly from the elvish archers, who are unnaturally quick and accurate. The Princess herself claims two demon lords in as many breathes, her arrows piercing eyes and heads. She quickly fires the rest of her quiver, and reloads from the “autoloaders” that they had installed all over the walls.

At the moment they still use the temple buildings as cover, they cross the short distance to the walls. Once they reach a few feet, they are slowed immensely, allowing even human archers to get a good shot it. Touching the wall sends a powerful into their bodies, often blowing them apart. The temple buildings swell, and demons march to the roofs and try to leap from them to the walls.

At the moment that it seems that the demons would start to crawl over each other, the temple buildings explode, sending magical fire roaring over the many thousands of assembled demons, and a shockwave that causes the gates themselves to tremble. As the smoke clears all that is left is scorched earth, and 13 gates shining red.

All is still for a moment, before a demonic horn blows and giant demons charge out of the gate, howling into the sky, and more legions march at their feet.

Your time has come. What do you say, and what do you do?

Not giving an answer to the turn yet, but it now occurs to me that if our people die, there’s a fair chance they’ll end up in Hell.
Can they keep fighting after that?

Only if you commanded them to, otherwise they would just kind of fade away and be at peace (unless they were really bad).

13 gates huh?

We only need one, the rest will just be a liability for our world while we are gone. Since we have some time to kill before the orcs reach us, lets tear down the other 12 gates, and kill as many demons as we can in the process.

You leap from the wall without another word, fly through the choking air and smash into one of the charging 4 legged giants. It’s moan cuts off once you briefly plunge your blade in its skull before you’re swarmed by demonic infantry.

These are rabble, easily cut down by your sword, they fall like wheat before a scythe. Your blade doesn’t even pause as it glides through their armor, blades, and shields.

As demons charge you, defenders on the wall are able to focus fire on other portions of the demon horde. You cut and smash and stab in fluid motions, bringing death with every motion.

Your attention turns to the gate. It may be easier to deal with the horde if they had fewer gates to run out of.

You charge forward, bowling over screaming demons who couldn’t get out of your way. You make small detours to cut down the giants that can’t get out of your path, their falls crushing hundreds of demons.

Black fire billows in your path, burning away lesser demons. You slam your sword down and a path clears, cutting through the deadly fire. It barely scorches your armor as you leap to topple the pillar that forms the side of the closet gate.

But then it shifts 5 feet to the right, and you sail straight into hell.

It is a place full of fire and burning, and the smell of sulfur and brimstone hits you immediately. You land on crumbly stone, surrounded by demons.  Snarling in defiance you rise. You may be on their turf, but you will rip and-

The ground collapses beneath you.

You fall, the platform turning to fine powder in your grip. Demonic footsoldiers cry out in fear as you all begin to tumble.

Below you extends a bottomless pit, or at least as far as you can see. Above are ramps that reached out to the gate, bearing many thousands marching to your world. It appears they purposefully collapsed the section you arrived on.

You look around, the pit appears to be a mile in diameter, with many spirals bearing what must be millions of demons, all funneled towards the entrance to your world.

As you fall the thought occurs to you that there may very well never be a bottom, and you will fall forever.

What do you do? (Will have options posted later, but if you come up with your own it’ll get Rogg in the fight faster. You might have some level up potential as well...)

Through sheer force of will and authority, command gravity itself to obey us, crushing the demons around us into a fine paste and allowing us to ascend back to the surface, where we shall lay waste upon the infernal hordes!

Post by: Madman198237 on November 30, 2019, 01:28:24 pm
I do like the idea of forcing gravity to do what we want, but for a more "reasonable" option....

Fall like a skydiver (knees bent back, arms bent, etc.) and angle our descent towards the sides of the pit as fast as we can, screaming obscenities at hell's weak excuse for gravity. Get close to the stairways on the side, and cut them down, severing the demon armies' ability to march to their gates.

Alternate alternative:

Summon up all the rage we can muster, and stab the very concept of this hell, while falling. Just murder hell itself, and all those hubris-filled millions of demons who think they're going to take over OUR world.

After we land, work our way back up through the gates and back to our world. It's important for several reasons that we enter with our army at the appointed time. It's gotta be bad for moral that we seemingly vanished into a hell gate, but since they collapsed the area around the entrance at least this one probably isint spewing as many demons anymore.

Brimstone is an alternative name for sulphur, or sulfur.
Apparently brimstone is an alternative name for sulphur. So Hell is just made of sulfur. Why is sulfur hated by deities? Or is it loved by demons?
Title: Re: Brute: SG

Brimstone is a name for what hell is made out of. Historically, it became associated with sulfur because sulfur can be found at the mouths of volcanoes, which might be charitably described as hellish places when active. The heat, the noxious and toxic gases, the presence of sulfur (a material not found in that form anywhere else), sometimes molten rock, it seemed pretty close to hell as far as ancient people were concerned, hence why solid deposits of sulfur (a material almost uniquely found in these locations) became called "brimstone".

You fall.

And fall.

You struggle to maybe master gravity’s pull over yourself, but it resists you.

You angle yourself to bring yourself to the edge. After many long minutes where an unholy wind fights against you, you collide against the wall, hard.

You are alone, and the gates are very, very far away now. Even now you can see circling demons fly through the air towards your position, and crawling monsters inch down over the wall. It would take days to make it back.

You will not give up.

A leering face bursts through the wall behind you, snapping at you with its contorted jaws. You smash it with your fist, sending ichor raining around you as it explodes. A horde of mongrels, twisted beasts of a hundred different varieties all blending together, rush at you, attempting to push you off the ledge and back into the pit. You hack and hew, your blade slicing through them like a hot knife through butter, but their sheer mass threatens to force you back. You eventually give up on the sword and just punch and throw them back, each punch and throw’s energy rippling through the mass.

You realize that the horde is unlikely to end, and you begin to leap up and scramble along the walls of the shaft. Arms emerge from the walls and try to drag you down, but you tear yourself from their grasp. Flying demons Harry you from the skies, shooting barbed arrows into your flesh. You throw them back with lethal precision, repaying each wound in kind.

As you climb images flash into your mind

A horde of demons scale the walls. Ranks of brave warriors hold the walls for a time. But great monsters and machines break their lines.

You viciously stab your blade into a grotesque monstrosity. It squeals and falls into the pit, taking your sword with it. A great insect creature with a hundred legs looms over you, razor sharp legs lunging at you.

The wizard curses as a great explosion wipes out the demons caught in the blast, sending a mushroom cloud of dust into the air. The surviving forces make an orderly retreat, lead by the elvish Princess. The Orc Warlord holds the rearguard. You see the princess blazing a path, her face set and hair flying behind her as she cuts a way through.

Armored gauntlets plunge into the creatures thorax. A cry of anger tears at your throat as your rip the creature’s chest apart and tear out its heart. You call your sword back, your hand outreached.
Forged in Heaven, Stolen by Hell, it now only obeys the King of Man. It burns free of the corpse and flies like a comet back to its master.

The wizard teleports to the Princess, and after a short argument, he teleports her and a nearby group of warriors away. The elvish sages soon follow suit. The wizard returns in haste, teleporting as many as he can before the demons overwhelm them. The remaining champions stand firm. Their escape cut off by a swarm, they close ranks and raise their weapons with a cry. You see hundreds of your warriors fight and die.

You launch yourself at a huge black dragon. It’s fire burns you, and it’s talons squeal as they rip through your armor. You don’t care. You force it upwards, to the gate, yanking back it head with a roar.

It flies for awhile before it explodes, turning into an expanding ball of Fire flinging you back down the pit. You descend further than when you started.

Mother stands there, helpless as you see your demonic fist smash into your mam. You watch her body tumble down the hill to the sound of broken bone. It then repeats. And repeats.

You rise. Fury unmatched, you tear your way through thousands until you stand before the gates. You run, the ground collapsing desperately as they try to stop you from reaching the gate. It is so close-

The gates disappear. And you fall once more. Laughter rings through the pit as you fall once more. You only narrow your gaze as you fall.

Your rage is not quenched yet.

What do you Become?

A. Conquerer of Hell:
Your strength is absolute, and this shifting infinite hellscape WILL BEND to your will. Gain control over your local surroundings, controlling the environment and gravity. Will be able to form gates. Will be able to lead an invasion of hell and claim ground, gaining the ability to form a kingdom in Hell. Will shift your drain from your followers and subjects to the Abyss itself, as long as you spend the majority of your time in the Abyss.

B. The Guardian Tyrant King
The culmination of your path thus far. If strength is the measure of a ruler, none could oppose you. Nothing will keep you from your world. Instantly teleports you back to your world, and gains the ability to shut down any gates. Your authority is absolute over all inhabitants of the world, and you can choose if and who you drain from, possibly killing anyone in range in mere seconds. You will not be able to leave the world, however, bound to it as it’s eternal Guardian.

C.Avatar of Destruction:
You are currently restrained by your physical limitations. No more.

D. Something else? (Must be approved by me(unlikely), can look to past level up possibilities for inspiration, should be on a similar power level to A and B.)
