If we're all stupid enough to keep trying to fight zombies at arm's length that is.

What we need is a catapult, or a bone crossbow or something.  If the dwarves can figure it out, surely we can pull it off.

Hey, I always wanted to know something. Is carving a crossbow out of bone realistic? I mean, could it really hold up in a fight if you could even manage to make it (granted, the crossbow doesn't have REALLY complicated mechanics, but...)

It just seems like a bone crossbow would be so hard to make, it would be smarter to make it out of wood. And wood isn't THAT hard to find. Well, easy enough to find to make you rethink making one out of bone.

Also, modern crossbows seem to be far more powerful then medieval ones.

flesh launcher works like a potato gun but you use zombie bits for ammo instead!

I would get lots of guns, supplies(from a walmart or something) steal trucks, get my friends/family, and go to nearest military base. I also would like nuke/lots of explosives, so if I'm infected, BOOM!

Flamers are horrible against zombies. Zombies are bad enough, but think of FLAMING ZOMBIES!

I propose the making of a Apocalyptic Aid Kit(TM).

It will have lots of ammo, a nuke, explosives, water, food, chainsaws, all the commodities to survive the Zombies

I don't understand why chainsaws have become such a popular weapon to use against zombies, they would actually pose more of a threat to the chainsaw operator rather than the zombies. A better CQC weapon would be a blunt weapon, preferably a metal one, heavy enough to break a zombie head open but light enough to swing effectively and be carried easily. As a bladed weapon will eventually dull and possibly get stuck.

An even better choice would be an actual rifle, semi auto would be best.

Your probably right.......

'Dont worry guys, my chainsaws got this. Oh man this things getting heavy.' As he goes to slash a zombie, he runs out of strength and decapitates himself.

I propose, instead, a mace. Or a big choppa.

Depends, a carbine would only really be preferable if a full length rifle would be impractical. As the shortened barrel will adversely affect accuracy and stopping power. So long as it uses a full power round that is easy to find, meaning 30.06 and .223 Remington would be good choices.

A buzzsaw could work if it's big enough.*

Anyway, a weapon that can be made from available materials is actually a very important concern.  You don't know how long industry is going to be non-existent.  A crossbow made out of salvaged leaf-springs, firing rebar or sharpened bones, would certainly be a good long-term option for staying out of reach.

*I can't believe that's the only picture of that thing I could find.
