Oh, yay, a legendary wood crafter who made a useless artifact, it's not even interestin! Oh well, atleast it's valuable... Wait, spikes of WHAT!?

It's always been possible for items to menace with spikes of plant fiber cloth (pig tail or rope reed) or spider silk, so it's not that much of a stretch for it to also happen with wool.

Well I've never seen the silk or cloth ones... I just had an image of a llama with a spikey do...

I've seen it in adventure mode.
Yeah, it's weird. No, it's unlikely to change. Dwarves like menacing spikes, even if they're more like big fuzzy bits of felt than like big pointy bits of OUCH!!

Spikes made of ash seems a lot stranger.

I assume the game means the wood variety.
