Is there a program like DFhack that will let me give my AI crossbowman ammo?

I managed to get a legendary crossbowman. The only problem is, he'll become absolutely useless once he runs out of ammo.

What our overly brief companion is trying to say, is the adv-bodyswap function of DF Hack will let you take control of your companion, and pick up some ammo.
