As for tonight... you
are going to need help. Nothing for it but to go find someone who seems friendly to pester.
After a minute of wandering and looking for people, feeling increasingly like a headless chicken, you discover someone who stands out a little bit.
A black-haired girl wearing headphones is sitting by herself. She seems quite fit, but isn't currently exercising, just... sitting and listening to music, spaced out.
You try to get her attention by standing near her. After a couple seconds you even look her in the eye. Then you try actually standing in her field of view, which also doesn't work. You poke the girl.
She winces and leans away from you. A moment passes, and then she speaks.
"Hey. Is there a reason why you're poking me?" She asks, curiously rather than accusingly.
You have to think for just a second. Try to smile. "Hello. I've never used a gym before. Could you show me how to use the machines?"
The black-haired girl stares through you. Then she takes off her headphones.
"Say again."
So you say it again.
She nods.
"I may as well help you. What's your name?"
"Uh, well." You're not really sure what to say so you smile and hope that the conversation moves on.
...
"So I'm not going to help you unless you tell me your name." She says.
"Eleanor." You admit.
"Ah. You look more like an Elise. Okay let's go."
Before you can reply, the girl grabs your wrist and starts walking.
The black-haired girl brings you to a machine for exercising your legs, and explains it to you while listening to her music. It's fairly useful, but you can't really learn without doing it, so you'll have to do a little bit of exercising.
After a while it becomes clear that she's not going to tell you her name unprompted, so you make her tell you that her name is Ash.
You really are kind of pathetically weak, it seems. Nonetheless you feel compelled to try your best and work up some sweat with Ash spotting for you.
In the end you feel tired and sore. What did you expect?
The rest of the night is unremarkable. You get a shower and go back home, tired. To a strange new apartment.
Perhaps being tired out helps you to sleep in a new place, as you have no trouble.
You remember none of your dreams. Today is wednesday. You'll have to go to school today, but first, you must make the most difficult decision yet.
What will you eat for breakfast?
