I must have thought I was being edgy à la Fifty Shades of Grey.
I oh-so say that spelling of "gray".
GrEy in England, grAy in America.
Also, as far as I know, it's some sort of reference to some guy's name in the book.
But the surname is gray and the colour is grey. So clearly whats-her-face the author has no clue about what she's writing. Which makes sense for what was originally a Twilight fanfiction.

Huh. I have seen these two spellings equally used, so I never really associated one as British and one as American.

Why do we push forward, knowing this fate, that we are destined for failure? Because, this game grasps the concept of mortality. Some games you can never lose, but we all stop eventually, causing a 'death' to those game's 'worlds'. Dwarf Fortress gives us a definite end, knowing that we will leave that world eventually, and move on to more.

I'm an American, m'kay, and I pretty much exclusively use "grey". If it's on me tea that's good enough for me.

Frankly, when it comes to spelling the word, I often enter a mental mini-conflict as to if to choose Gray or Grey.

Same. Just go with whatever comes to me at the time. Same with whether things have double letters or not. Like necessary.

Yeah, it's one of those words that looks right with either "grey" or "gray" and that makes me think that one choice has to be wrong, because they obviously can't both be right, right guys?  :P

Personally, I have a preference for British spellings. Colour looks more proper than color to me, and theatre is the same way. It looks like it sounds classier too, "theat-ruh" rather than "theat-er" and theatres seem like they should be classy.

Unless you are French both spellings are pronounced the same. If you started calling it theartrer around here you'd sound a bit strange! Much like how colour and color, armour and armor are pronounced the same.

*EDIT
Well, apparently there are some who pronounce theatre as 'thee-a-tre' and then there's those who pronounce it as 'thear-ter'

I thought "gray" was the British spelling. Huh.
A is still a superior letter to E.

The proper solution to the grey/gray conundrum is to simply alternate. Never spell it with the same vowel twice in a row and you're golden.

I is tertiary.
U is second worst.
Here's Y, who whores herself out to the consonants and the vowels.
And that wretch E.
