Wouldn't that simply be a negative version the enderman face skin with the bottom and top line removed?

Because their eyes are a separate skin from the rest of the face.

It was no reference. To make their eyes glow Notch separated the skin for the eyes and the face, so that they eyes overlap it only after it is rendered. I assume that it will make it easier to make a slenderman skin, since that thing has no eyes.
