Week 17 Continued: The Dance

Brilliant reasoning. Really.

Awwwwww yeeaaaah.

...also our father is going to LOVE every single aspect of this.

Either she's a lot better at this than we are or this isn't her first time seducing a young queen.

YOU HAD ONE JOB! ONE!

So is "mingle" or "chat" the euphemism for "ask what the fuck that was all about?"

I think we already know the word for poison.

Pretty sure that's the blonde dandy we conquered Ixmilar for.

Wait, Earl of whatnow?

Well he doesn't seem to have gotten married...

Oh! Serenitatis must be the somewhat ironically-named section we conquered for him.

That's noblespeak for "She threw away the lives of many our kingdom's soldiers to get me some more power and land."

Anyone calls us on that without mentioning murderous slatterns and I'll make him a Duke.

This might be more helpful if I could keep track of the nobles we do see, but it should be informative nonetheless.

At first I really had to wonder if 14 1/2 years was really an eternity to wait for the throne.

Then I realized she probably has a regent until she's old enough, somewhat like us.

Might be worth noting that their sports fiend is the youngest daughter, and thus not likely to need to do Duchessy things.

Damn. We should have enraged her parents further by ordering her to come.

Well now we know who we really want to dance with.

After the fiasco with the snake, her mother wanted to make sure collateral wasn't an issue unless things went Full Wizard on everything within a hundred miles.

We should publicly embarrass and enrage them by asking loud, inappropriate questions about their children's absence.

This makes me SO nervous.

But we do manage to get through the ball without being magic missiled.

Of note this weekend: Visiting the Barracks gives +1 Pressured and nothing else. This holds the pattern for Barracks being tied to your highest emotion on the lowest half, since at the moment we don't have any.

Attend Service, on the other hand, still gives -1 Angry, despite Pressured being higher. Evidently it works differently than I had assumed.

I think it's time to play with toys again. Besides, it might be nice to see little Axspendable be cheery for the first time since her mother died.

Oh dear. A failed intrigue check and a failed magic sense check. That can't be good.

This makes me SO nervous.

It's like that moment when you make a skill roll and roll a natural one - you know you've failed something, but it remains to be seen whether it will result in explosions.

As to what we should do this weekend... well, I guess that the pressure of the ball can only be rectified by communing with nature, so Sneak Out - with sword in hand - and do some communing.

Play with toys.

Totes didn't hoped for Duchess of Ursul there, though. Nope.

Magic may not be mandatory, but there's PLENTY of reasons to keep after it! I mean, we're single-minded, we've already worked our hardest to fail at noble interactions, we've plunged the world into darkness with ignorance, and the assassins WILL come.

So, if we're going the socially awkward introvert who knows a little too much about weapons, wars, and gossip route, we may as well back it up and be a magical introvert rather than a normal one.

It also allows to detect death curses.

Playing with toys.

Maybe Cheerful gives bonuses to accounting? I guess we'll see. Play with toys.

Weekend 17: Balance

She's actually tied on all four emotions, with Angry winning out presumably due to Left->Right superiority.

Also I thought Dance was one of her good skills, but turns out it's just barely below 30. It's actually not so surprising that she couldn't dance well.

Alright. We have proven thatwe can be a very capable military leader. However, we must work on other aspects of our world if we want to stand a chance. Given that we are almost always angry and we have thus far failed on every occasion to be social, I suggest that we look into our Intellectual side, namely Intrigue in regards to knowing what other countries are doing.

So, I suggest Foreign Intelligence and Ciphering.
