I don't know, upgrading to steel armor might just make things interesting. Thud is still unarmored so if she can get home first it's still likely to go in her favor, particularly if it's a head or limb shot.

The best defense is a good offense. I've learned that the hard way.

The best defense is completely paralyzing your opponent!

I feel that 150 points would not be much. Having everyone have less points doesn't seem fun. I'm trying to find a way to balance that, but I always end up with impractical and overly complicated solutions.
Having thought about it a bit more, more than that might be good yes. It's hard not to unintentionally get all overelaborate with solutions and alterations.

Two more updates left until the next round can start, i believe. Monty, who had to be freakishly posessed by the arena master in order to churn out an upgrade last time, and... Varick? Oh Variablenoooonsense~!

FearsomeClarinet (Monty's manager) last posted on June 13th. That's almost two weeks of inactivity - I don't think we should wait for them to show up to continue the tournament.

Agreed, I'd hate to see us get hung up. I'm sure they would be ok with it circumstances given. I know I'd want the tournament to continue if I weren't posting for some reason.

Quarter-Final Match I
Thud the Mad VS. Cadedi Icoricera

Spoiler: Gladiators (click to show/hide)

Ugh! Leave your seat for one moment and some random bastard decides that he is the new commentator. Disgusting, you have no idea how often random jokers wander into the arena master booth. I need some guards, any who;

Welcome to the first quarter-final match. Today we have the ever more maddening Thud. Looks like he has picked up quite a few new tricks with a blade, a master swordsman I would say. But can his spindly metal stick penetrate the grand defense of his opponent?

That's right, that little she-elf has come a long ways. Now clad in a full set of steel plate, she's traded out mobility for a skin of metal. But can she and her pikemanship withstand the furious onslaught of the insane? Let us find out!

Spoiler: Battle Gif (click to show/hide)
Spoiler: Battle Log (click to show/hide)

Aha! It would seem the the madman didn't have to penetrate the thick armor at all! With his superior positioning, Thud was able to force Cadedi straight into that sweet hot drink. The poor elf remarks that such a defeat is irritating, I'm sure it is.

Quarter-Final Match II
King Tuticane VS. Sath the Cloakbearer

Spoiler: Gladiators (click to show/hide)

And now we've returned to the lovely meadows. Ya know I'm surprised how well our janitors clean up all the blood and gore left behind, just look at this place.

King Tuticane returns, his paralytic venom has caused many a creature to expire. Perhaps to the point where more regulations should be put on natural weapons as such. Anyway, can this regal lord continue his vicious streak of consumption?

Especially against the cloaked Sath, let us not forget the exceedingly large pointed stick he carries in both hands. We've seen decapitations and other limbs flying from his mighty cleaves, surely this will be no different!

Spoiler: Battle Gif (click to show/hide)
Spoiler: Battle Log (click to show/hide)

Well I suppose it was quite different, the horrid serpent king took but one bite upon the poor unarmored human. And thus the match was over, taking his time, Tuticane began engulfing the flesh of the defenseless Sath.

Quarter-Final Match III
Cerol Trollbane, Monster Slayer VS. Princess Klackon-Ktsss-Ktss

Spoiler: Gladiators (click to show/hide)

There really is something special about having a good old klassic arena bout, ya know? There's that lovely scent, metal and blood simply divine.

Ah, here is that lovable little scamp, the monster slayer from the underdark caverns, give it up for Cerol the crundle! Yes indeed, this little red rascal has put an end to countless trolls and other horrors from the deeps. Can such a legendary crundle defeat another cavern dweller?

That's right, his opponent is Princess Klackon, a much different sort of deep creature. This four armed beauty has brought along her mighty defense to ward off blows. Will this ant woman slay such an innocent looking creature as Cerol?

Spoiler: Battle Gif (click to show/hide)
Spoiler: Battle Log (click to show/hide)

It would seem so, thanks mostly to the princess's immense resistance to pain! Some may see it as a weakness, but not this dazzling ant woman. Surely she has the audience swooning over her!
