Hey uh, MB, how big is this place? I'm still just below the farming area, in the dyeworks/weavery, takes an 2+ hours to 'clear' a level & take notes/occasional pictures.

It's pretty big. It was, IIRC, ten years old when I abandoned it, with over 200 dwarves.

EDIT: But I don't have as many levels as some people do, things are spread out more horizontally in most cases. So there's not an endless number of levels that size.

EDIT AGAIN: Have you at least found some steel armor/weapons to deck yourself out in? I'm looking forward to your next report :)

Is this biome reanimating? I really don't want to know what happens when "absurd numbers of megabeasts" is combined with "reanimating biomes".

Heh, Ejel's a human. He does have a couple trinkets though, (& most of the steel I've seen was used in the final battle, if the dust coatings are any indication).

I lost this fortress three years in. Zombie invasion.

Still, should be a good example of adventure archeology.

Berdishmab, "Earthenrampart"

It's in the Diamond Hills, basically the center of the map vertically, just east of the inland evil sea (the water of drool).

Against my better nature, I'd recommend you to savescum.  Feels terrible to play for 3+ hours only to get a demon dropping onto your face.

Cheers PTG, looking forward to that.  Zombies are a taaaad bit more managable.

Hello !
Here is a fortress I lost a few days ago. As a casual player, I was quite proud of it.

It is named The Fortress of Cheese and is located in the Eviscerated Hills. It's a small world, you should easily find it.

I cannot guarantee that the surroundings are safe, though.

Have fun.

It's the first  save I ever share. I hope everything is good.

I have your save, Aiwha.  I will get started playing it maybe tonight.  Hopefully I don't die too quickly.

Edit: How do I get rid of the weird graphics?

As it turns out, pulling every lever in the fortress wasn't as good of an idea as it sounded like at the time.

Get the LNP, have it install whatever your favorite tileset is.  That assumes Aiwha didn't use mods though.  Mods are a huge problem and typically banned from saves that will be shared, but if it was Aiwha's first time sharing a save they might not have realized that.

Oh, sorry I forgot to remove the graphics. (And I did not see your edit.)

I am re-uploading the file, with basic ASCII if all is right.

I did not use any mod.

If one were, during fortress mode, to create a fort with the idea of using it for the archaeology thread -- what would you adventuring types like to see or prefer be avoided?

Not an adventurer, but from what I remember of past versions:

* Clean up cage traps before abandoning, and clean up or leave a warning sign near weapon traps.  Everyone hates traveling to the backend of beyond only to get gibbed or stuck in a cage.
* Some people had trouble finding the forts. Think about making a road to the fort gate.  Definitely post very clear instructions on how to get there and hopefully a screenshot of the embark map.
* Lots of engravings to read.
* Interesting statues and figurines.
* Also, good loot - weapons, armor, jewelry and clothing.
* Well organized fort that's fun to dungeon crawl.

Cage traps are nonexistent in adventure mode.

By default. The option to enable them exists.

Think about making a road to the fort gate.

Oh, so if you build a road with 'b' 'o', it shows up on the world map?
