New report:

Oh, fmod is more difficult. Can you try older versions from http://www.fmod.org/browse-fmod-ex-api/ ? They all have 64bit support. Not sure what they're doing that causes crash on old system though.

Now you'll get an impression development for OS X is a pain. Which is not except in some rare cases...

Alright, I'm trying 44221.  That looks like the end of a sequence from about halfway down the list.  Not sure if I should go back further.  Compile will be done in ~1.5 hrs.

Don't recompile, it's a dynamic library! I just copied even the earliest 43405 to libs and it works for me, so you can just do the same.

I wasn't sure if they had changed the headers.  Anyway, too late now!

If it still doesn't work try just copying the oldest fmodex then.

44221 worked for me -- and it ran with sound!  Here's the official test release for 64-bit OSX:

http://www.bay12games.com/dwarves/redist/df_64_test_osx.tar.bz2

I have various duties and so forth to catch up on now (including future of the fortress and your PM if I get there, I'll get there!).  Then if this is still working by the time I get back, we'll have to decide on a course of action for Linux 32 bits.

Awesome! It's using 6 to 7 threads!

0.43.03 uses around 10 for me - most of those are SDL or sound-related. (Probably not a secret threading addition, sorry.)

There was a typo in the siegers' campfire code. When the fires went out, so did the game.

I heard that the new compiler added microthreading, and thought that might be why, but I see now that 0.43.03 also uses 6 to 7 threads for me.

I was testing Mifki's SDL frameworks in a Lazy Newb Pack. An El Capitan user (tolkien_asimov) had a problem with an old SDL_image, but upgrading to Mifki's latest one fixed it for him. Hope that's helpful. Sorry if I wasn't supposed to do this.

FYI, I personally didn't do much testing, but didn't encounter any crashes either so far.
