A Tale Of Two Kobolds
« on: May 20, 2017, 10:37:10 pm »

Two kobolds sit in front of a small campfire, just outside the mouth of a cave, carved into the side of a cliff.

One of the kobolds is holding a dead rabbit over the fire by his bare hand, trying to cook it, but keeps pulling back his hand as he's accidentally cooking himself, too.
He swears, "Dringus!"

The other kobold pokes the fire with a stick, ignoring the one cooking.

And suddenly, a Dwarf walks up.

The two kobolds stop and stare at the newcomer, nobody moving a muscle, until the first kobold burns himself again.
"Dringus!"

Give a scathing look at the two creatures, then sit down at the campfire.

You narrow your eyes, and focus them on the one with the stick.

He inches his arms and legs closer to himself and stops poking the fire, staring you in the eyes, as through unable to look away.

Your eyes shift to the other kobold. He meets your eyes, then averts them to the rabbit. Then back to you. Then to his buddy. The rabbit. You. His buddy. You.
His eyes continue to dart frantically, unable to comprehend all the three things he's trying to watch.

You look back at the first. He's looking at his friend until he notices you're watching him again, at which point he locks his eyes on yours again, not daring to be the first to look away.

You hold your gaze as you cross your legs and set yourself down in front of the fire.

The one with the rabbit is on your left, and the one with the stick on your right.

Open a hand at the one with the stick, motioning to give it to myself.

Also, take a quick look at what we own.

You look at yourself.
You are wearing two shoes, under which are two socks.
You are wearing trousers, over which you also wear a skirt.
You have a shirt beneath your coat, which is covered by your cloak.
You possess gloves beneath your mittens, and a cap beneath your hood.

You know, casual dwarven attire.

You desire more, however. You lock stares with the kobold with the stick. You then slowly shift your eyes to the stick itself, and the kobold follows suit. You hold out your palm demandingly and motion for him to hand it over.
He responds by curling himself up tighter, and clutching the stick close to his body.

Give a shrug, and go to look for a stick. Char the end in the fire, and hand it to the kobold with the rabbit.

You lower your hand back down to your side and pull yourself off the ground.
Turning around, you leave the kobolds and walk a little ways off.
This whole area is a pine forest. It's pretty dense, but you can still make your way through it without too much difficulty.
You find a branch that has fallen from one of the trees. It's a good size, and straight.
You strip the needles from it, and scrape the end against a rock to form a point. Perfect.
You make your way back to the fire. The kobolds haven't moved much.
You hold the end of the stick in the fire to harden the point, turning it slowly to make it even.

When it's done, you flip the stick around so the point isn't facing the kobold, and try offering it to him.
He stares blankly at it until he burns his hand and gets distracted.
"Dringus!"
You roll your eyes, and flip the stick back around before stabbing the rabbit out of his hands, causing him to pull his arms back to himself.
You then hold the rabbit over the fire by the stick, and try offering the handle again.
The kobold slowly takes the rabbit stick from you, and holds it over the fire, keeping his hands out of it.
His eyes light up, and the other kobold relaxes and looks at what you've created with a fascinated look.

Attempt to speak with the two kobolds, through words, and if necessary, mime.

((OOC: I wonder why there aren't many players.))

Agreed, our dorf is no homicidal maniac. At least, not to those who haven't slighted him.
