A I mean the son of the duke did just attempt to assassinate us. So this act of aggression and slight against our honor can't not be met with a response right? We can not let this injury against our imperial might and splendor be ignored. Plus I mean it's been a long time since the Prophecy said don't go west so I'm willing to at least give it a try.

A A.  I still don't buy the prophecy, but going after Eval has potential to create diplomatic issues with the Eldricans or the Empire.  Irritating Lametania as well does not seem wise.  We aren't really in the business of tolerating assassins, even accidental ones, and I highly doubt we can hush up the death of the son of the Duke of Eval.  We're already riding the crest of this wave; we either see it through or fall off.

You decide to ally - and to proclaim that Duchy of Eval commited most heinous crime of attempted assassination and will pay for it with blood!

The Lametanian envoy is quick to chime in.

"My liege, on behalf of my master, may I negotiate for Evalian soil to be returned to its ancestral owners? King Dangarm would heap praise and gifts upon you and your house if the Duchy of Eval would become integral part of Lametania again."

A) "Gifts and praise, sure thing! The Duchy will go into hands of Lametanians when I'm done with it!"
B) "He will only receive the Duchy from my cold, dead hands. That land is mine to take!!"
C) "He can have it if he bends the knee to me first!"
D) "Sure, but only if he fields men and arms to help me take it. I won't be giving hard-won territories to him for free after all!"
