I'm fairly sure that it requires Iron, which Methiant does not produce. It also likely involves magic, which dworfs can do but hoomans can't.

That said, I'm not opposed to B at all, I just think A is a better deal because I know that it will pay for itself at least in part.

We have a university now, and a shit load of income. I don't imagine human controlled banks are too far out, and those don't involve trusting the dwarves not to put self destruct buttons on our money.

Iron isn't really a hard-to-find capital-R Resource though? That's literally the appeal of iron over bronze? And if we didn't have ready access to iron then what the hell are we smithing our everything from?

Also, I was thinking more in the sense of figuring out how steel is made in general, or at least developing our metallurgical infrastructure while trying to investigate exactly that. Or heck, maybe we have some occultists and magic historians in the House of Learning who could invent some kind of workaround for the dwarven blood magic - the point is, you don't find out if you don't give it a shot.

Trading our gold for 1 extra econ a year and putting Our military supply chain in the hands of a hostile country is a terrible deal, banks are even worse (seriously, people voting for banks, can you explain why it's a good idea to give economy control in our nation over to a group of people that have been shown to be absolutely ruthlessly greedy AND have a bigger military then us? How is that not an obviously terrible idea...?)

Making crafts is perfectly reasonable.
