A fresh start in the ages past... good or bad?

Yeah! Loving all the aspects of it, and the original series got a bit boring, to be honest.
It's quite good, and has everything a SPAMKINGDOM should have.
It's okay, wouldn't mind seeing the original series updated again though.

You decide to keep the Kingdom away from the internal conflict of Xane-Peon.

445 AEC, Winter

You receive news that Peonians have managed to capture several southern cities in quick succession, aided by the local populace and some symphatizing governors and garrison commanders. A large battle between Elea and the Regents ended inconclusively.

In the meanwhile, you fall sick. Your stomach started getting very upset as of late, and your urine stinks fouler than usual.

445 AEC, Few days later...

Quote

Fever sets in as your intestines rot while you're still alive!

You don't survive the night.

445 AEC, Midwinter

The court is in uproar, many of the noblemen shouting at each other and each demanding to be listened to. Obviously, the sudden death of King Iakes have left the Kingdom without a heir, and the succession crisis, so fast to occur after the last time, have demoralized the people. The potions and elixirs he was imbibing have sickened him, and ultimately, led to his untimely death.

The Advisor calls for order, but the noblemen are not listening!

Quote
2

First time since its creation, the council of Kastorian nobles is unable to solve its problems!

445 AEC, Late Winter

The war in Xane-Peon continues, and Kastoria is still without a King!

Quote
1

The court assembles in much smaller number as part of the once loyal nobles have flocked under the flag of elderly Duke Oro. The old Duke is wishing to put one of his grandsons on the throne, displacing Lycwyllian dynasty! Xenia, wife of late Iakes, have renounced her ties to the old man our of her loyalty to her dead husband. Nonetheless, he is now in the east of the Kingdom, gathering supporters and arms for the war he is willing to wage within the Kingdom's borders.

The Advisor shakes his head.

"Whatever have we done to suffer this much?" He questions himself out loud, and then addresses fellow noblemen. "My friends, we must decide quickly in whom do we invest the Crown of Kastoria?" The candidates are as follows:

Elea, who is still fighting the loyalist Regents of Xane-Peon for the throne of that Kingdom. Obviously, siding with her would turn the old Kastorian ally away from you.

Ixara, married to Menhael of Maellia, haven't been in touch with politics for almost a decade. Her husband is rather sickly, and her two sons are nearing adulthood themselves.

Matin, the youngest of Lycwl's children, married to Aguria, daughter of Duke Oro. The couple have distanced themselves from the traitor the moment he started his rebellion.

A) We must join forces with Elea! Only together we can bring peace to Xane-Peon and Kastoria in the same time.
B) We must call Ixara back to Kastoria. She's the eldest, has a husband and two children already, a perfect way to continue the dynasty.
C) We must put Matin on the throne. He might be the youngest, but he lives nearby, and speed is the essence, considering there's a pretender for the throne, too!
D) We should just give the throne and the Crown to Oro the Pretender, and be done with it!

Urgh, that moment when you check into Forum Games & Roleplaying and you see the SPAMKINGDOM title's changed names again... and you know another sovereign's bit the dust.

Elea already has an army. We should take A and add our troops to hers. In theory, we'd only need to win either Xane-Peon or Kastoria to keep playing, but in practice, we could win both.

she could marry someone else from the family

I think you guys underestimate how close you are to extinction of the family. Two adult ladies, one adult guy, two near-adult kids, one infant on foreign throne... and leftover consorts of previous SPAMKINGS but those of course don't count.

Also, I forgot the salt caravan last year; RNG decided you get +1 Eco.

The court decides by majority to enthrone Matin, the youngest of children of Lycwl, as the next King of Kastoria!

446 AEC

You are Matin, son of Lycwl!

By the divine cruelty of fate, the descendants of Lycwl from first marriage have all perished, and only you and your siblings remain alive. Elea is fighting in Xane-Peon in her bid for its throne, Ixara lives in distant Maellia, so Kastorian nobles decided to put you on the throne.

Quote
2, 4

Boy, aren't you lucky, huh? You might not have any talents of note, like your predecessors, but at least Fates are on your side.

Your dearest wife, Aguria, was the first of you two to put her father away, for he was always a scheming old man and she hates schemers. Your son, Amet, was born half a year ago. He is such a cute (if loud) little boy.

The coronation ceremony is quick and without much pomp, for there are threats that a proper monarch needs to deal with.

The same evening, while Aguria is breastfeeding Amet, the Advisor enters the bedroom and lays down the Scrolls of Kingdom Status on your desk.

Happiness: 4
Population: 3
Economy: 4
Army: 5
*Navy: 5

These are good numbers, you wager.

446 AEC, Spring

"My liege, the Forest of the Ancients is smoldering, and no Fai have been found since last report. Oro, the Traitor, is amassing arms while our soldiers are watching northern border armed with soft gold instead of hard iron." Count Salapena explains as the council of nobles begins in earnest. "We must melt down the gold and prepare our Army for inevitable conflict.

"Our we could send money to our friends who short-sightedly joined Oro. I'm sure that some money and offers of amnesty will sway them to flock back under the banner of Lycwl dynasty." Count Maravela speaks up. Count Salapena scoffs.

"Use money for bribes? Are we that afraid of Oro and his men that we need to weaken his camp?"

As for the Army management...

A) The Fai are gone. Melt down the gold weapons, give iron ones back to the soldiers, and send these to the east!
B) We must be super extra sure that the Fai are gone, and for that, we need few more months, at least!

As for suggestion of bribing the enemy...

A) Let's show the traitor nobles generosity and leniency of Lycwyllian dynasts!
B) No! They've betrayed us, and all that they shall receive from us is death!

Knowing our luck, the fai will return halfway through dealing with the rebels, but it's better to plan for the threat we know exists than one that might not be there. Melting all that gold should pay for at least some of the bribes as well.
