"I cannot apologize enough for that, Infected and Looters have been poking around, trying to find food or water or fuel. None of them have come inside, thankfully. I've been worried about it, lately." Fred shrugs his shoulders, eying his dozing brother with a small smile. "Me and Tim are all that's left. Our mother, father and eldest sister were in the city when this happened, I think."

He sighs, "Probably missed the evacuation if what you're telling me is true -- or got hit by the radiation burst. Him and I were underground when it happened. I think we got spared. Had a bit of sickness, though, for a little while. That...that got me worried. But we seem to have gotten better now." Fred explains, then, slowly, he rises, scooping up his little brother and ticking his head down the stairs. "We're sleeping on the sublevels. We got a blast door and a shelter down there. You're welcome to stay the night-- it's the least I can offer."

You are tired, and the histamines in the wine are not helping your exhaustion. You yawn, rubbing at your face while you consider the Caltrop's offer.

"Thank you, that would be lovely. Do you know the locations of any other survivors in the area?"

"What the radiation didn't do, the Infected finished, I'm afraid. I stayed away from other people. There was one group nearby, but I wouldn't trust them. Might be a few minor Families like mine holed up somewhere." You rise as Fred speaks, leaving the dishes where they were and making your way down the main staircase. He keys in a code, unlocks it with a key, and pulls the heavy door open. He scoops up his little brother from where he deposited him. Down here is much cleaner, filled with crates of food, some machinery, and a few beds. "A couple of servants survived too-- but...they left. Wanted to find their loved ones and bring them back. I didn't stop them." The door rattles shut behind you, and Fred seals it with a manual system.

With a quirk of his lips, he sets his brother down on one of the beds and tucks him in gently, gesturing you over to the heater where a few seats are placed. After adjusting a control panel, he sits down nearby. "I probably could have stopped them -- but I don't blame them. Iunno what I would have done without Tim."

"It was noble of you to be willing to shelter their loved ones.  I'm glad I ran into you both, as there is plenty of space in Stormmont.  When we return, I will be sure to look into whether your mother, sister, and father were part of the evacuation."

"Not really. A more noble sort would've helped them out. I would appreciate that." Fred nods, "I've got first watch if you'd like to sleep."

After those parting words, you fall into the bed. Sleep quickly claims your exhausted form --

[-] The Planet below is beautiful, and blue, with swirling clouds shining with multicolored hues in the bright light of its white sun. It's setting on the megacity below. It's a massive VOID forward industrial complex -- one that supplies a nearby shipyard with plenty of superalloys, hyper-conductors, and all the other materials needed to keep a VOID-based fleet operational. Three custom outfit Pirate warships hover nearby.

There is no VOID defenses at this moment. This city of a billion souls lies ripe for the slaughter.

"Saga of Discord. We're ready and in position, Alphira."

"Burning Night. Green light."

"Gold Tooth. Golden. Heh, you see what I did the--" Your forward comms office cuts off the transmission before you pop a blood vessel -- or a VOID vessel.

"All escorts are green for engagement. We've laced the hydrogen-antimatter bombs with your nanites, as requested. We're good to go on your orders -- any words to transmit?" She questions, turning to face you in her swivel chair, settling her hands across her lap.

You must understand the difference between right and wrong.  Take note of how wrong this feels, and let this be a warning of what you could become.

They don’t pose a threat, plus blowing the place up destroys what we came here for, we could take what we need without killing the people here
