I don't know what you're talking about with 1971, shillings and pounds. :P

It is currently the first year, and guineas are merely the highest named denomination of the Motherlands currency. Ships and cargo are always going to be expensive, so we're not going to bother with tracking anything worth less than 0.1 guineas. We can assume all lesser costs roughly even out.

The essential question I had is more 'if you only have one sand, can you sell it for half a guinea, or do you have to wait until you have another sand to sell them both for one guinea in total'. Going by current market values for this example.

Also a Repeat Visit update since someone put more money in. There are now 9 Guineas invested so only one more is needed to launch the ship. Well, one more and then for everyone to recopy the letter so it's official.

this is true, Motherlsnd isn’t the US

Question for GM, when is this taking place? The far future after societal collapse causing humans to lose our most recent technologies? Does this even take place on Earth? Or could it possibly be a new planet that the ship crashed on before being destroyed, tsk9ng its culture and science databases with it? Which would cause the humans to start society from scratch? Maybe the colonists were from where the Guinea was used, or the AI that brought them here implanted the Guinea in their memories so they’d have a currency unit in mind in case destruction of the archives occurs
