I should post something here sometime.
But I share an opinion with Grakelin.

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

Ah, the good old center smudge.

It's not a LCD monitor without one.

It's impossible to see when it's not in black and white, so the picture serves two purposes. Thanks, monochrome!

Bad lighting? Bah. Obviously you're just protecting your identity from the Mobsters you're ratting out!

And hey, you know nothing about bad lighting until you've taken a high-contrast myspace picture, the kind that glows like Las Vegas and shows damn near nothing about what you actually look like.
Those are for self-conscious teenage girls anyhow. Silly things. No serious person would ever take one.

*cough*

That hair seems a fine shade of copper to me, nothing wrong with it.

can't say the same thing about the sultry myspace pose, though.

Yeah, the hairtone works, though the aforementioned KER-RAAAAZEEEEE contrast might be misrepresenting that.

That's orange?! I helped dye my housemate's hair once, whose natural color was close to what you have now (copperish), but she wanted fire-truck red.
People who call redheads "carrotheads" have never beheld the eye-shattering orange she became. She only had to wash it 5 times before it became even close to a bearable level. Also, you need more contrast, I can still distinguish facial features!

Blarg, you're doing the contrast right.

Heh. Glad the color works. And yeah, I know. That pose is way too myspace to be on facebook, and yet it was. >_< I tend to take things and only later how ridiculous they are. Especially if it comes across as "sultry," because as anyone who knows me can attest, I'm about as sultry as Cream of Wheat.

...and then I see Ein's masterpiece. Hello, new profile pic. Time to let all know of the Dark Mistress of Shadows among them.

Oh, also, a guide to making such beautiful pieces of art:
  • Take a photo of yourself in a silly pose. Makeup is unnecessary as it will get filtered out later. Bonus points for mirrors, obvious outstretched arms, or other indicators that it is a self-portrait.
  • Open in whatever editing program you want. As long as it supports a few basic features, you should be fine. I recommend Paint.net.
  • Crank up the contrast. You want it to be somewhere between normal and black and white. You should also increase the brightness to compensate for a higher concentration of dark colours present in the photograph.
  • Apply filters as desired. I prefer posterization and colour inverting. You may also choose to screw around with colour levels, doing things such as stripping out all of the blue and green to make it appear bloody and mysterious.
  • Save final image as a jpeg. Make sure you set the quality to about 80. If it's too low, it comes out crappy, but too high and the image is too big and you can't upload it.
  • Congratulations! You now have a profile picture that will be the envy of all your friends.

edit: oh never mind that's what you were going for

You forgot "Don't look at the camera, but at the screen". Nothing screams insecure as that one.
