Thanks! Gonna be switching to warm bastion right now!
Also, you don't NEED 7zip. WinRAR works just as fine.

EDIT: At least to unzip it, you don't need it. Encoding, I'm not sure of.

What are the cons of using the Lazy Newb worldgen parameters?
Sorry I missed this question before. Really I don't know! I created it long ago and haven't gotten any feedback on it. I think it has very few megabeasts/titans, fewer cavern levels, and I tried to force happier/greener environments with lots of volcanoes.

Most people would see that as a pro. lol.
But yeah, I'm budding out of the newb stage (though this pack is STILL very useful) and might see it as a con since my fortress is thriving and.. I really haven't seen a single goblin or kobold in years (literally.. at least in DF time)... so I'm picking fights with elves.  :P

LNP ASCII Graphics Test Add-on Pack 34.05 (requires 7zip)
Just extract into LNP/Graphics folder, and next time you load the GUI you should have three new ASCII options.
Includes Guybrush 16x16, Jolly Bastion 12x12, and Vherid DF Warm 10x10.

Can someone give me feedback on this add-on pack, and if it, or what, should be included in an actual LNP release?

Sounds good to me.  I'm not a big fan of the ACSII sets, but Vherid does some pretty good color schemes, and Jolly Bastion takes care of the biggest problem I have with ASCII, all the peroids and such in the ground tiles making things harder to read.

That is an insane and dangerous plan.  I approve wholeheartedly.

The reason I asked about the worldgen parameters is I think a softer world leads to migrants and such being soft as well.
Making them more susceptible to tantrum spirals and stuff.

Tested it with the LNP Advanced, tried all three tilesets, genned a world, embarked, switched tilesets, and things seemed to worked fine. Only unexpected thing was that installing a tileset (at least Jolly Bastion did it) puts sound back on and the game into fullscreen and so on, so basically it resets all my settings. Maybe it's a necessary side effect because you include some config files with the tileset, but I thought I'd mention it.

Is it just me, or does the Phoebus tileset seem to be glitching up?
Just text. Usually when you open the nobles screen. I switched to Ironhand and the problem didn't exist. Actually, it still exists in Ironhand. Going to try Mayday next. Mayday's got it, too.

All it takes it moving the selection in the nobles screen and watching where it says "require" and stuff.
I never got this with 34.02.

Thanks for the testing! Yeah ALL graphics sets ALWAYS change your settings, because it just replaces init.txt and d_init.tx with the ones in the graphics set. Ideally it should just change a few settings, but would require some more work on my end.

Is it just me, or does the Phoebus tileset seem to be glitching up? Just text.
Is the problem with TrueType? Press F12.
If not, go into the d_init options and change Print Mode to something else

The issue is a bug with TrueType...the bug is in the tracker http://www.bay12games.com/dwarves/mantisbt/view.php?id=5097 but I am not sure if anyone is paying attention to it at the moment.  I find it super annoying and hope something is done about it before the next release.

Yep, getting the same with Truetype as well, guess I'll have to settle with regular fonts for now, but whatever works out.

might I suggest using something like Patch? I will do all the work of changing the configs for you, and will not mess with things that don't specifically need to be changed.

There's a link to a site full of windows version of them down on the bottom of the page.

the problem with this is that it's linked to a specific language. Patch will work with any text file.

EDIT: Here's a sample of a diff file converting the raws from vanilla to Ironhands: http://pastebin.com/A6W5cEu1

best way would be to have pairs of files, converting to and from various tilesets.

Yeah, we had the idea of using/creating something along those lines, but its a lot of work. I think a more realistic goal is just to modify init.txt and d_ini.txt only where it matters. Raw overwriting may have to stay until a modloader is written or a ton of patch files are written/implemented.

Edit: I guess if the patch files can create themselves it might not be that bad, but we'll see.

Diff would make the patch file automatically from an entire directory.
