Was discussing music with someone and it lead back to a band I used to be really into years ago, and now things have progressed into a full-blown musical nostalgia trip. Listening to all sorts of shit I used to love and gettin' all sad and stuff. This hasn't happened in a while.
Started off with this cover, after being wowed by the original (quite possibly the first time I've heard it!), then I moved on to another band I used to be into (my first "favourite band", actually) and listened to a few of their songs before recommending them, and then I listened to several more as I walked to the shops, eventually moving onto another favourite band from the time and getting quite emotional over certain songs of theirs* as well.

Then, having had my fill of that after a few more songs, I moved on to yet another band I was heavily into in high school and rediscovered  them, too.

...Then I continued on listening to other, slightly more recent-but-still-similar favourites of mine. Linking all those was a tonne of work already, so I can't be arsed doing any more. That's already a pretty good sampling of what late-primary school and high school Yoink was into right there.
Of course there are plenty of other songs that were worth including, but, well, I had to choose just a few to link, and that's the hardest part of sharing music half the time if you don't want to just dump a bunch of unmarked links in the hopes that someone will blindly click on them.
...Although, this one also kinda deserves a mention, since I'm listening to it right now. Really nice track, actually, even if it is perhaps one of the sappiest of the lot.
Well, that took some effort. That last band, as much as I love them, is probably the kind of thing I'd be too embarrassed to admit to liking  in meatspace, so I had to share them somewhere, y'know? :P There were certainly other cringe-worthy, sappy, even borderline emo songs that I listened to back in the day, but un/fortunately I don't have digital copies of them anywhere so they were not included in this evening's  nostalgia session.

* This upload is awful, but it's the only instance of the song I could find online, so oh well.

Brother recently linked Foo Fighters:  Run, which makes me feel similarly uncomfortable.  Well done, though.

Anyway, I've always had a weakness for "pop" vocals.  Maybe it's the autotune, but I'm 31 so I think the catchy lyrics and electronica are a big part of it.
But the instrumentals always felt a bit boring.

Christopher Bowes, the Alestorm guy, maybe feels similarly...
Lady Gaga's "Magnetic Telephone" with pirate-metal guitar
Or if you don't like pop at all, he also remixed his own Shipwrecked with excessive synth and a drop

He also made a stupid song about toast.  Still catchy because toast.

(I've long had a special appreciation for Lady Gaga for... reasons >.>)

Did somebody say pop metal?

Amaranthe - Boomerang
Amaranthe - The Nexus
Amaranthe - Electroheart
Amaranthe - Drop Dead Cynical

Off the top of my head, those are the songs that most fit with your post. :p

Are we talking about pop vocals?
here is the ultimate statement in the power of pop vocals.
Somehow it manages to be humorous, catchy and strangely haunting all at once. Definitely recommend, 'tis a great song.

Here is a completely unrelated song that is also great: Green Buzzard - Dream In/Out.
Spotted the band name on a suggested even a friend was going to on social media and it caught my attention. Checked them out, discovered that they weren't stoner doom like the name suggested, but their nostalgia-drenched, fuzzy alt-rock/indie-pop won my heart anyways.
Thinking of maybe seeing them play when I'm interstate in a couple weeks.

Stormy Cloud-Kirby Squeak Squad. Actually, i want to ask a question: Some people said the music also exists in MOTHER 3 and i want to check, but i'm too lazy to do so. Can anyone check which music sounds like this one?

EDIT: Searching for "Roasted Sweet Potato Shooting" results in this rap.

I love the song Xanadu, by Rush.

It's based on the poem of the same name (that's how I found the song).

In Xanadu did Kubla Khan
A stately pleasure dome decree
Where Alph the sacred river ran
In depths measureless to man
Down to a sunless sea.
?

Or something similar. Been a while since I read it.

Edit: As an aside, we actually named one of our horses Xanadu.

I'll have to give it a listen, all I've done with them is Easton Road, and I was pretty iffy about the album holding together well as a whole.

Karliene- Lament for Boromir
I can't say exactly why this is such a cool filk song, but there's something really haunting and generally great about it.
