I'm probably rather late on this, but I'd just like to confirm that the meteor shot trick will not help you find floating islands on Large maps. The shot does seem to dissipate after a certain range. (That or it takes more than a full minute for it to come back down)

It is possible for it not to help... though I can confirm that the Meteor shot trick does work even for large maps

You just better make sure your not low down.

For example at the low point of the map I can see the shot disapear.

I've done it on a large map using a phoenix blaster and found an island before (That's not to say that you might not be right about sufficiently large distances; I've only found one that way, and haven't really looked for any more that way, so my experience doesn't prove that it doesn't dissipate at huge distances, merely that it is possible to find at least some floating islands on large maps with meteor shot with the phoenix blaster).

The first shot actually ricocheted and struck an enemy, killing it. The second one just came back normally (and landed closer to me - the first one was halfway to the edge of the screen). With such large distances to the islands, if you aren't aiming close enough to straight up, even if the shot did ricochet off an island, it could still wind up offscreen when it came back. (The farther the island, the farther away from you horizontally the shot is going to get if you aren't aiming perfectly upward)

Alls I know is if I shoot the floor of my giant skycastle with meteor shot, I don't see the shots come back down.

But I can reach the floor myself with rocket boots.

I've honestly had better luck finding the islands by just making a skybridge (With a second person to disassemble it because we didn't want to just leave that there) and jumping off with rocket boots every so often than with the meteor shot trick.

You need to get luck with rebound shots. Rocket boots are all about the love...

Lum, are you sure you were aiming at 90 degrees? Even 85 could send the bullet way off screen if it goes high enough.

Somehow the game has figured out that I'm trying to go for meteors, so they've stopped spawning.  I've broken a half-dozen shadow orbs and waited over an hour; no meteors landed.

So... I'm having issues with the Hamachi network password. I sent a PM to Nevyn, but I wanted to post here in case it's being watched closer. I've tried variations on capitals/not caps and things like that based on the password hint in the server post but it says invalid password.
