You have to rescue the mechanic from the dungeon and buy them for 2 gold each.
So, no traps and mechanisms until after defeating Skeletron?

As someone who has yet to defeat the Eye of Cthulhu, this bites  :(

Goblin only spawns once you've defeated a goblin army, fyi.

DAMMITDAMMITDAMM--

Okay, yeah, I've got enough rags to make a flag. Time for another round of pointless searching. Nice thing: I've got walls of dart traps set up on the approaches so I can just stay in the skytower meleeing their spells.

Might just be me, but Skeletron is actually easier in some regards. You get a surface that is easy to level, half his attacks are incredibly slow and expose his head, and the other half are weak/dodgeable. Just get a boomerang or minishark and grind away at the head. I do know for a fact that currently Skeletron has less HP than iCthulhu (or am pretty Cure sure), and by the time you get to him, you should probably have Shadow armor, which will really help now that boomerangs are melee weapons (somehow)

Skele has 4400 HP IIRC. The Eye of Cthulhu has 2800.

I'm currently embarking on a mission: Clear a path for the Wall of Flesh battle by pumping all that lava directly into the ocean.

Hm. I guess I was wrong; it seemed like he went down a lot faster. I even accidentally killed one of the hands.

The hands each have like 800 or 600 HP, you can generally clear them and have a lot less acrobatics left to do.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I have gold/silver armor, silver bow with fire arrows, an enchanted boomerang, a shackle, double-jump, and grappling hook. I cleared out a small area and walled it off to keep out the zombies and demon eyes. Full stack of health potions, but the cool-down timer means I can only drink one or two before being killed.

Daybloom, Mushrooms and water bottles make regeneration potions. Keep a few around, they are incredibly useful.

I don't remember the Ironskin recipe, usually I find enough randomly for boss fights. You may want to look into getting those.

While Shadow armor could be nice, the only aspect that helped was the higher armor rating. Use the arrows to knock out the hands as fast as you can and use the boomerang when those are down and Skeleton is simple to dodge. Then it's just a grindfest.

I was referring to the Eye. I just suck at boss battles, I guess.

How exactly do pumps work? I've got magma flowing over an inlet pump and an outlet pump up next to the ocean, but the magma's not going away. Are they on by default or off?

Simplest way to deal with iCthulhu is to set up an arena with a solid floor and walls, with several levels of wooden platforms. Get around 4 full stacks of shurikens, spam and dodge until it is dead. Shouldn't need more than one or two potions if you time yourself well.

Aside from the shurikens, that's exactly what I did. I'll give them a shot next time, maybe poison knives as well.

When it's spawning the little eyes, it tries to stay above you. If you stand still when it's doing that, you can just toss shurikens upwards and kill the little eyes before they can get in your way.

Also ironskin potions are bottled water + daybloom + iron ore.

For anyone trying to solo wall of flesh!

Use a featherfall potion and as many jump buffs (cloud in a bottle, shiny red balloon, rocket boots, cobalt shield and obsidian skull is what I used). Preferably paired with a minishark. I ALMOST GOT HIM just now, if you have all of those things you can basically effortlessly glide through hell which gives you a much better shot at killing those leeches for their precious hearts.

If you don't have alot of jump buffs, the standard make a huge highway and a ton of buffs and go to town method, as described by frumple earlier on is probably your best bet. I still reccomend the minishark for that.

I'm going to build a highway regardless, and use the obs shield, special boots, cloudinballoon, anklet, regen combination. That jump addition helps more when you have a flat surface to dodge from, I would think.
