One more to go! Join now and I'll give you a (not very) special 1/9 chance of being the cult leader!

Also, what was band trip of doom?

During BYOR 7 (great game) and WWYDT (not quite as good), as part of my school's concert band, I went on a 4 day band trip.  I had very little access to the internet, and couldn't post much.

Captain Jack A T sits in the cockpit of his space frigate, the Orpheus.
A trading vessel that carries goods between the Earth and its Mars colonies,
it normally has little to no issues to worry about. The paper in Jack's hands,
however, painted a different story.

Seems a psychic enthraller from the Red Knives of Mars, a Mars independence group,
had been tracked to the spaceport the Orpheus had taken off from, at which point
he was lost. It was discovered that a tracking device planted on his person was
traced to the Orpheus just now, but the tracker has since been destroyed.

Normally this would be bad, but not the worst case scenario. However, the Orpheus
is also carrying a psy-amplifier, a device that magnifies a person's latent
psychic abilities a thousand fold. In the hands of a psychic enthraller like
the Red Knives member upon the ship, the result would be a madman capable
of enslaving entire fleets with a thought.

Jack's orders are as follows: "Work with your passengers to determine who
seems to be the cultist, and eliminate them. Do not dock until the psychic
has been killed. He likely has the ability to change his appearance, so you
will be able to tell when you are successful when the dead person reverts
to the form of the rebel. There is no way to tell who the cultist is while
he is alive, so your only hope is to kill people one by one until
the culprit is found. At all costs, protect the psy-amplifier."

After gathering the passengers aboard the ship, a collection of merchants
and travellers and vagabonds, and informing them of what has occurred, Jack
hands out a key to each person. Only when all the keys are inserted into
a console on the ship's dashboard will the signal be sent to Earth that
all is clear. By distributing the keys, Jack hopes to prevent the worst
case of the enthraller overpowering everyone.

Unless the psychic dominates enough of the passengers to do so.

May God have mercy on your souls.

Day 1 has begun! Jack A T is the confirmed townie!

NativeForeigner, it's been a while since I've played with you.

How does the town play against a cult? What is the Bay12 standard for that?

NUKE9.13: Sup! Think this time you will do a little better? Also, do you think this is a balanced game?
Powder Miner: Welcome to the pro league. Tell me, would you prefer to be a vig or a cop, in this game specifically?
Toaster: Hello, seems cult games are popular this season. Everybody is making one! Still, tell me, if you thought the cult was going to win, would you try to get culted?

Max:  [ego]I'd probably already be culted by that point.[/ego]

Seriously though, I'd play to the best of my ability either way.  I don't think I'd make any special attempt to sway the cult leader.

Urist:  What did you learn from Witches' Coven that you think will apply to this game?

Jack:  What effect do you think your status will have on D1?  D2?

Much, much, much more a vig. You see, as a vig I can go off my vibes and information to actually slay the cultists, whereas as cop there lies danger of millers( is there a role list?), and It takes time- I might get culted while I gather info. Vigilantes are instant.

There are no millers in this setup. Check the first post in the specific rules.

It's been too long.

I'm not sure what the Bay12 standard is, but what I normally do is hunt normally D1 for the leader, most basic scumtells should still apply. The following days I would keep hunting for the leader normally while looking out for inconsistencies with everyone's playstyle, which tends to change a little when someone gets converted (but not always). If there's nothing to go on, nailing a cultist is better than a mislynch.

Powder: How familiar are you with cults in mafia?

Greetings, all!  Captain Jack here!

Jack:  What effect do you think your status will have on D1?  D2?

Day 1, people will trust me and won't vote for me.  I'll still need to actually play well to do well, but I'm not going to be lynched today.

Day 2 and on, the only major differences between any other player and I are that I can't be the jailer and that I can't be the cult leader.  The latter is important, as it makes me less of a target for lynching: the goal for lynching is to get the leader ASAP.  If I end up looking like a cultist, I'll still be lynched, though.

Jim Groovester: If you were the jailer, how would you use your power?

Dariush: In a situation where there's a person you very strongly suspect of being a cultist, but not the cult leader, and a person you somewhat suspect of being the cult leader, who would you vote for?

Max White: Once the cult leader is lynched, how would you handle the remaining cultists?

Toaster <joke>To push for Max White's death if I wind up converted to the cult</joke>

Actually, I'm continuing to take lessons on how to scumhunt better.  While I feel I've been pretty good in making my cases and such, I'm having a harder time pinpointing who actually IS scum, and thus I'm working hard to wind up mislynching less often.  The fine art of separating scum from town takes a while to acquire.

I'm actually more proud of my after-death work in the BM before the current one.  I pretty much NAILED the night actions from Day 1.  If nothing else, I'm starting to get a handle on how scum think, and good targets for them.  I feel that will help me here a lot more.

NUKE9.13: In the last couple games I've seen you, including the aforementioned Witches' Coven, you've been mislynched for your playstyle.  You set off an awful lot of alarm bells despite being town because of it.  How do you intend to handle this ongoing meta here?

Jim: What traits do you think the cult leader would want in earlier converts?

Dariush:  Hello, Merlin :P

Do you think there is a time when it would be wise for the jailer to claim?  If so, when?  If not, why?
