Did I do it right?
...
Can I use that for my desktop background?
Sure, almost wish I'd kept the 2000px across version XP

Did I do it right?

That is one of the awesomest applications of Shookography I have ever seen. Props, man. Props indeed.

Last week my art teacher introduced our class to the greatness of Bob Ross. With the guidance of an episode of The Joy of Painting (a TV show he had on PBS in the eighties or so), I made this with Photoshop.

FTFY

Set width and height in the image tag and suddenly everything becomes not-huge.

I know, but then the details are less visible.

No, then you click it to return to normal size. Everyone wins.

But that's silly, nobody has a 300 dpi screen and your image is bigger than most monitors [anybody here got a 28 inch screen?]
everybody is going to have to make your image smaller in order to see it anyway, and by doing so obscure the details,
so why not just do the work for them and give them a smaller version, it's going to look the same anyway after I shrink it by
going to view image.

Yeah, I guess that was a dumb move on my part. :( Sorry.

Don't sweat it, it's not that important. I just see it so often that people will make huge images
with the intent of preserving detail, and post those huge images to the forum under spoilers.
High resolution is important, but not really to the web where everything is 72 dpi [some people have 96 I think]
300 or higher resolutions are mostly for printing (which looks crummy when you get pixels) or work that you
plan on resizing down anyway so that you can ensure that major details will be preserved even through simplification.

Here is a DF related image I've been working on. All that's missing is the dwarves. I made it using Blender.

At the end of the century, Dwarf Fortress will probably look like this.
