Was bored and really should've been studying so I painted an eye with the help of some beer.

Something from imagination, inspired by the Altis Island from ArmA 3 a little bit.
Everything is leaning to the right too much, though - that's what you get when you are drawing without a ruler.

As a guy who loves drawing with pencil but sucks at any sort of landscapes or backgrounds, that's eye candy to my eyeballs.

Man, I love landscapes. A shame that my drawing skills rarely extend outside of the people range.

Anyone of the equivalent to the royal bloodline in a nomadic group would have a sun tattooed on their hand, or a scrotum on their forehead (it's a little-known fact that fraternities are based off of long-forgotten tribes).

I tried making a trippy edit of one of those using just green and purple layers set to multiply and overlay, also in gimp. Looks like bleh but it's kinda interesting for a 5 minute job done at 12:00 at night when I'm tired. The things tired me thinks of doing instead of going to sleep.

I done made me a picture of an armored automaton. Also, I'd like to say, I'm not a great artist, so don't expect it to be that good.
Still, I'm kinda proud of it. I may make it my new avatar. I didn't include legs/feet because I really can't draw feet or boots correctly.

Criticism is welcome.

This is pretty good! I like your linework. What'd you make this in?
As for criticism, there are a few things.
Firstly, you're doing gradient shading. It's not a good way to shade because it makes things look really weird. Also it makes the non-shaded areas look verrrry flat.
Another thing is you're ambiguous and magical light source. This is called pillow shading and it's very bad to do. You aren't doing it too extremely like other newbie pixel artists seem to do. Most people have their lightsource come from the upper left or right corners of the image. Here's a helpful image tutorial.
Finally, white is not a good thing to make the shine of metals from, unless you're making a grey metal shine, like chrome.

Here's a quick edit I made to the shield-bearing arm:

The lightsource is coming from the upper right of the image.
I can send you some other tutorials if you're interested. :)

On top of what Jack says, as i like to say to people...

Contrast is your friend. Make them shadows and highlights count, else they might as well not be there. :v (although obviously the highlights on clay are going to be less shiny than those on chrome)
It's harder to spot mistakes with faint shadows, and i know that the smooth look that it can give is tempting (i've been there), but do note that reality actually tends to have rather significant jumps between light and shadow, so it's much easier to underdo than to overdo. Hell, you can get away with having the darkest shadows be as much as 75% darker than the midtone! (cylindrical case in point; midtone is 60% brightness, darkest shadow is 15%, middle shadow is 30%)
Sometimes you can even get away with having completely black shadows, but that's usually reserved for certain stylizations. Do note that if you use more than one colour for the shadows, you should rarely jump directly from midtone to darkest shadow.

eye see what you did there

oh yeah also i was doodling in Krita again and lo and behold my immense creativity takes an unprecedented form

I was dumb enough to not place the construction lines on a separate layer, and i couldn't be assed to remove them by hand. :v

Ha, thanks. I made it in Paint.Net, with heavy use of the line tool. I would've done more by hand, but I have a shitty mouse and I don't have a real mousepad.
I appreciate the feedback, and I'll try to use your tips to redo it.

I'll also keep this in mind. I appreciate all the feedback.
