Made a demon generator a while back. Figured I might as well share it, since I probably won't end up using it for anything.

Wish I had a working scanner. It looks squished because I took it from my phone.

I agree, i really do need to practice that some more. But, this is just a sketch to help me plop down the colours in the right places, i didn't intend the lines to be particularly fantastic. Were i to make it a proper line arty thing, i'd do it over once more and make the lines less terrible, of course. :v (also worth noting is that accuracy is inherently limited with a small tablet such as a Bamboo Pen and my GRANDIOSE SWEEPING MOTIONS)

not that my lines are any more precise on a larger tablet

also the nib on my stylus is starting to be worn

but oh well

That's what extra nibs are for silly :p

Anyways, I'm no expert on composition but I hope you don't mind some observations on my part:

Hopefully this isn't too harsh and is of some help :)

[EXTREMELY OFFENDED]

Nah dude i really appreciate it, it's hard to learn from my mistakes if i don't know that i've made them, so thank goodness for knowledgable people pointing them out. :v
's all valid critique you've listed, so i'm not even going to bother arguing, although i feel like i should provide at least a tiny bit of clarification regarding the way i've placed things before i either chop it up and Frankenstein it back together or draw a new thing:

SPIRAL. There's also an underlying golden ratio grid underneath which i've formed the spiral after, but honestly i haven't used it as much as i should. :P

also i don't even know if i have extra nibs aaa

meanwhile i have also painted an overexposed pear in like 5 minutes

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

As much as i like saturated colours and contrast, i may actually have overdone it here. :U

I did something! Ignore the lines beneath it, that was a failed attempt.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Granted it's not very good, but given the most art I'd done a month or so ago included stick figures (and not even good stick figures) I'll take it as an improvement.

Other than the fact that it's legs seem to be on different planes, that's a pretty neat bug there :D

Also shook, the golden ration is kinda bollocks in anything but architecture. What you want is the rule of thirds, dynamic balance and a bunch of other terms I can't remember right now. I'll see if I can find a decent tutorial of some of the often used compositional tools.

But really, the best approach to this stuff is to see some master painters and try and figure out how and why they composed their stuff as they did and then try and apply that stuff to your works. No point in bumbling around in the dark if most of the room has been mapped beforehand, just gotta learn how to read the maps :D

I think they were, though - the picture I used had the bug on a curvy leafy thing, so the legs were splayed out a bit.

If nothing else then i can at least borrow books in the library, they have quite a few. :v
As for mapped room metaphor, i totally get what you're saying (and it is absolutely a good idea to look at how masters do their thang, i would recommend that to everyone), but my brain is silly and wants to look for the less trodden paths, to see if there might be something cool hidden there. In other words, maybe there are other ways to do things that i like better, even if they may be less effective at getting me from A to B. If not, well, i'll happily take the trodden path to victory. :U

Do an apple an orange, and a lemon too.
I'LL GET BACK TO YOU ON THIS
